- Actor Riz Ahmed is one of Hollywood’s fastest growing stars on screen with roles in “Nightcrawler” and “Rogue One,” but he’s also made a name for himself onstage on stage with a career in rap. In this week’s Sunday Sitdown, the Emmy-winning actor sits down with Willie Geist to talk about how feeling like an outsider eventually turned him on to acting and where he draws inspiration for his evil genius character Carlton Drake in the new Marvel movie “Venom.”

‘Venom’ Actor Riz Ahmed Opens Up About Challenging Stereotypes | Sunday TODAY
Not ashamed to say I’m a little obsessed with this man. He’s truly grown on me.
Talking stereotypes and there comes Indian music in the background.. smh
LMAO I THOUGHT THE SAME THING
pakistani though
I think that's a bgm from one of his own songs. And yeah it was Indian, not sure why that made it stereotypical.
Political correctness takes the fun out of everything these days. 😅
@@thecraft2091 it's a same thing for west
Indeed, and the worst thing he's not Indian.
Atlast we Pakistanis are getting a representation at this level, hope this open doors to a set of v talented ppl who are unknown to the rest of major world atleast for mostly good
Alas or at last 🤔
Both
The best thing about Riz's success is theres no tokenism the dude is immensely talented and smart to boot. He also picks his projects well from small budget Chris Morris films like Four Lions to Nighcrawler or premium TV like The Night Of.
IN America, never in the UK
Very happy to see us Asian being represented, he’s incredibly intelligent and articulate. Great actor
That's a clever man right there
okay he pulled off that American accent perfectly. I’m also a brit from London... could never do it to save my life
Representing. So proud of my man.
Can't wait for the day he becomes THE James Bond. Hope that day is not too far ! 🤞
Impossible. He is a fine looking guy but simply doesnt look like a James bond. Not to mention James bond has always been pictured as a white man and most people wont accept a brown james bond. It would be bad for business. I wont blame white people for it because i myself dont think of a coloured person when i think of James bond.
PS - I am brown myself.
@Rana Ali Akhtar Alam Khan i dont. But i am not so insecure that i would support stealing the white man's role to feel good about myself. I would however support a brand new brown British spy character.
@@FactFusionU tbh me being brown aswell I could see him playing Bond if he builds himself up but that's gonna take time.
@@FactFusionU are you one of those people who think brown people are stealing your jobs? hahah
@@FactFusionU well why not? There was a remake of Annie, who was a white ginger girl. In the remake she's black. So why can't we have a brown James Bond?
Riz Ahmed has a league of he's own. 🔥
So handsome.😍😍😍
Why did you put the Indian music in the background while talking about his childhood and you talk about stereotyping gosh
It's the music to some of his rap lmao
Its from one of his songs.
Not Indian, Pakistani Music
He was the lead in The Reluctant Fundamentalist before the Nightcrawler
And that too a beautiful portrayal of someone going through all that post 9/11 situation against Muslims specifically
i love his confidance
Love the beard!! 😍
@@sara78889 thanks Queen
I'm so proud of this brother 😊
Great very talented man
riz ahmed is a great actor only a matter of time before he is a household name in the USA
PROUD TO BE ASIAN AND MUSLIM.
I love you Riz Ahmed.
Peace to ALL..
Love you as a MUSLIM BRO
#UnderstandIslam
I had never heard of Riz Ahmed before watching Venom. And... wow. I should watch the movies he plays in more often. ♥
He must have worked so hard to follow his passion as a brown man in a white dominated movie industry, where good people are white and villians are brown or black
Yes! Brown bond that sounds cool
Riz is such an amazing guy. He does great representation for pakistan worldwide.
Omg he intelligent and cute like Pakistani British guys
Riz Ahmed englistani what a song English - Pakistan making Pakistan proud 🇵🇰
Pakistan represent!!
He is not pakistani he is british. Pakistan has nothing to do with his success.
Zinyak Dude he's Pakistani. Wtf is wrong with you !
@@fahadnaushad4557 I think he is talking about his nationality.
@@umar7182 British Pakistani mate! His of Pakistani descent so still Pakistani.
He'd make a great bond, he's definitely got swagger and is sauve.
👁 Gorgeous eyes 💖 💖 💖. He's so smart and amazing in every single TV and movie role!
So proud ❤️❤️❤️
Great guy. I love everything he did, but I still haven't watch Venom..
Hottest man alive for me...
He seems like he’s one of the up and coming brightest actors , someone that can use his college degrees to take characters to the next level is pretty awesome !
keep growing brother
First half of the venom was kinda boring but the second half when he became venom was really really great!! I want a sequel for venom Soo badly I want to see venom in action!!!!
Lĺ
You've just told me something I didn't want to know..
@@abcdefghijklmnopqrstuywxyz1Spoiler alert...
@@slowknife2873 It definitely is lol
I didn't like his character very much. I didn't like how he kept bringing up the world is ending over and over again.
Oh man, I remember you now, you were in four lions.
Love this man
I disagree I think Carlton Drake had started off as a man about for good but become sociopathic in his approach
Riz Ahmed... What an incredible & talented artist... Brilliant character actor.... Intelligent.. Insightful... Intense
Proud of you bro
he so hot
True.
indeed he is. and i love his style. he always looks cool..
He’s a total daddy
someone he’s actually British and his parents are pakistani
@@Sh4h01 ehhhh kinda i guess
Wembley is in LDN, Willie.
Riz for Bond 👌
I really love Riz and he is super talented, but man does he tell the airport story often :D
Riz is bae 🙏🏾
Yooo Riz is a legend
Four Lions - blew himself up
Star Wars - get blown up
Venom - blown up
Sure does take stereotyping too far
H.R. gaming4plebs 😂😂
Four Lions went right over your head if that's all you took from it.
it's a satire, but he does get blown up a lot
@@hrgaming4plebs570 Glad to see your takeaway from a movie is one scene.
sure there's a whole lot of lesson learnt feom the movie, but you can't deny him getting blown up in each movie is almost like Sean Bean will always die in 99% of his movies
I'm muslim, n I want to act like Riz, my parents don't know that I want to be an actor, they want me to a computer engineer, I just don't know wt to do😅
Listen to your heart and follw your dream.........
The night of season 2?
There is always some ppl pushes you out and they are always small in number but
In authority.
To me he sound like the guy name shetty something the monk🤗😂
The critics say: "Well, we know the evil scientist from the comic books, rigth"? Yes, we know the evil scientist but that role has never been played rigth to this day. He was threatening, mad and kind in one person. The most evil scientist from the marvel universe feel not threatening at all....so the role of the evil scientist and the roles of the villain are for this reason split into two positions and here was it the fist time this role off the the villain scientist has been done rigth...
Many wouldn't have noticed it but when they started telling about his background, they played Indian music. 😂. Pakistani music ia different guys.
jamal bond
Venom is Tom hardy riz ahmed is riot
And dear sir who might be Carnage?
@@bhanubaxla woddy harilsion
love from pakistan
💖
where I can get that nice pullover?
Cultural music has no border
He's Riot!
In movie he speaks with american accent, but in interview he speak with his deep british accent.
He'd make a great Bond but I'd love to see him as a Mafia boss.
👍👍👍
And cool
I liked your photos from childhood. Are you was a good boy? ;)
Tell me how such a sweet child has grown to very purposeful and unstoppable person with goal to succeed? 👌
Shame on Americans for humiliating such a talented person.
He'd be a great James bond but I'm sure it wouldn't save the movie it'd probably still be cheesy
All I know is he is super hot!!!
_l m a o_ @ 2:24. Oh, American media...
My name's Bond,James Bond.
Riz Ahmed: My name's Bond, perwaze Bond😂
Only Asian might get this joke.
i'm asian and i don't get the joke here. can you please explain?
Brown Eminem
He looks better clean shaven
Nah im loving that beard
It's not a Marvel title
So?
It's not an MCU movie. It is a Marvel character. The opening credits even have the same Marvel opening sequence that other Marvel movies do. It just happens to be produced by Sony.
Venom is from marvel comics
He was born in Wembley England....so first of all he is English, second Pakistani !!!
Would he also be first English if he wasn't an actor?
Lol you really have no idea how it works 😂😂
@@daniyalk713 Well then would you kindly explain to me how it works?
Robin LaBouche he is English because a paper says it but originally he is totally from Pakistan
Your a top geezer absolutely correct.
He's so hot
1st
He is hot
🇵🇰 🏴
I want to marry him, is it possible?
Marry me 😍
Iqnt the robot series actor a muslim to win an emmy
Isn't it bad he stole his "rap name" lol
Everytime I see this guy he wears an uglier sweater than he did before
Asians have to go to US to make it, never here in the UK
