Loved hearing your review! I have found Harrow to be a bit hit and miss for me. I will think about trying this one out.

Thanks for watching! It’s hard to say if I wholly recommend this book - her writing creates too many caveats and quibbles. But it’s relatively easier than her other books and I’ve been DNF-ing a lot lately so I was happy just to finish something lol!

I reallly agree with you on her writing!!!! CLunky and dense 100%! Have you read "The Once and Future Witches" by her? I just found that book for me to be such a slog and struggle! WAYYYY overwritten! Its like 500 pages and worse for it in my opinion! I wanted to go in with a red pen and edit down the thing for her 😅
Thats a really good point about this being chosen for Reeses book club pick! And it is a good choice for a wider audience!
This is a great review and youve piqued my interest to check this one out! I never thought I would read another book by this author but I love the idea of this haveing thriller elements with maybe a touch of gothic vibes to it! ALSO an Alice in Wonderland connection is an instant buzzword/theme for me!🙌🙌♥♥

I agree Opal seemed very young. And I didn't like the forced romance thing.. omg yes it was hard for me to read..! I had to re-read sentences over and over. Was a bit redundant.

Exactly! I’ve been in a weird reading stretch where I’m DNFing everything so lately i get a little overly positive when there’s something I manage to finish! Thanks for watching!! 💜👻🎃🍂🍂🌺💀

@@giantcupofcoffee I should have DNFd Floating Staircase by Ronald Malfi yikes lol. Yeah I gave Starling House a 4⭐ for now because I do like gothic fiction.. but definite issues with it. Welcome! 💛

Lol yeah that word game didn’t even try. I was thinking of that when I was like…if The Underworld was such a famous book, how did no one else ever read this and figure it out 100 years ago?

@@giantcupofcoffee yeah word puzzles are another hobby of mine.. I naturally look for stuff like that even if it's not there lol.
      yes good point!
