Считаю этот альбом, самым сильным! Самым красивым! Самым музыкальным, особенно композиция "Квешенс". Это просто шедевр! Слушал, слушаю и буду слушать......
I thought I didn't understand that song because English isn't my native language, but now that I read the lirics I find out why, and now really don't understand a thing.
Jorge Guerra The lyrics can be very confusing. Lot's of hidden meaning to them, from the songwriter's--that is, Bruce Springsteen's--childhood. The lyrics mean next to nothing to everyone but him. Some of the lyrics (if not all) have been explained online, if you're interested in looking them up.
John Henshaw Yes, they're in English. I meant they have no meaning to other people. To Springsteen, the lyrics hold special significance, about Madman drummers bummers - Vinnie "Mad dog" Lopez, the first drummer in the E Street Band. Indians in the summer was Bruce's little league baseball team as a kid. In the dumps with the mumps meant being sick with the mumps. Boulder on my shoulder was a "chip" on his shoulder. Some all hot, half-shot, heading for a hot spot, snapping fingers clapping his hands was being a "know it all kid growing up, who doesn't really know anything." Etcetera. He wrote this song in his bedroom, primarily using a rhyming dictionary. Or as Bruce put it, "the rhyming dictionary was on fire."
+Jorge Guerra I disagree with +lyrics4me . I think the lyrics mean exactly jack crap. They are mostly set up the way they are because they rhyme. Secondarily, the song is meant to be bat sh!t crazy. But that is what I love about the song. It is bat sh!t crazy and the lyrics mean nothing but that is half of the appeal. There is something psychedelic and mysterious about it.
+Kent Short Honestly I thought the same thing but I searched on the internet to find if there was any meaning and the explanation they gave seemed to make sense to me. www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=964
Wow! I grew up loving this song, never understood the lyrics. Now that I see them, I still don't understand. They must've have had some wild drugs when they wrote this one.
I thought it was.... wrapped up like caduceus another roller in the night. caduceus: an ancient Greek or Roman herald's wand, typically one with two serpents twined around it, carried by the messenger god Hermes or Mercury.
There were actually 2 versions of this song, one by Manfred Mann, and the original done by Bruce Springsteen. Bruce's version says "cut loose like a deuce, another runner in the night", referring to a car. And then there's Manfred Mann's version that says "wrapped up like a douche". Bruce explains the lyrics on a live version, and jokes about that one line change that made it a hit for Manfred Mann.....

Great cover of a great Bruce Springsteen song!
Always loved the guitar solo.....
Amazing guitar solo, I put it up there with any of Page, Hendrix, Gilmore's guitar solo's. Friends and I have tripped balls to this song.
It's a song about a teenage boy in the summertime becoming a man.
One of the ultimate road trip songs.
I thought it was.... wrapped up like caduceus another roller in the night. caduceus: an ancient Greek or Roman herald's wand, typically one with two serpents twined around it, carried by the messenger god Hermes or Mercury.

Mann says "revved up like a deuce". People just hear what they want to hear.
Cool story even though it never happened.
@@sweetcup6694 I guess Bruce didn’t know what he was talking about, either.
