We left Beaverbank in 1976 when I was 6 years old. My Grandfather was Herb Barret who had passed away by this time. My uncle was Paul Barret . Both of these by marriage and adoption. I can still smell the aromma of fresh cut log from the lumber yard. Nothing smells like that in the whole wide world. A love of nature , fishing and wild life began there. I reflect upon a brief sputter in time and reflect on childhood days of sun and snow in Herb and Elsie's House. In those days , On that property there was a barn, tractor shed , a metal shed, a well and a chicken coup.I burned the chicken coup down one night . Yah. I was THAT kid. lol. It was an accident. Well, sort of. LOL . Seeing this video gave my heart a tug. I went back in 2001 and stood on the shore of the Lake . It has changed so much. Filled in with houses. I wanted to knock on the door and say hello to the new owners but thought better of it and just moved on. I believe the school you displayed was the public school I went to. At lunch time they would roll a television in on a tower. It just so happened that the reruns of the 67 spidernan series would air during our lunch. That show had a Big impact on a kid my age. That and the Six Million Dollar man. Not that any one cares. lol. Memories.
I also remember a girl that lived on the other side of Beaverbank road. She was the oldest child of her sibs. I remember her Dad used to burn the brush and weeds off the property surrounding their house. Her name started with an M. and she had bright Blonde Hair. She dressed like Marsha Brady. At least I thought so. One day I somehow found myself invited in to play . She led me to her room. We played house where Mommy and Daddy lay down . Of course nothing happened. We didnt know too much about what Mommies and Daddy,s did. LOL. Later at school, I managed to toss a note to her where I had scribbled out in crayon. (I love you), But when she read it and came to speak to me on the playgroud, I remember the odd look on her face. Was it sad? No , that wasnt it. Was it angry? No that wasnt it either. "Wow this love thing was pretty weird stuff," I remember thinking. The funny thing was I wouldnt let her come talk to me. I kept running away. Lol. This was around the age when kicking a girl in the shins seemed appropriate to some boys. In our heads, it was a sure fire way to let her know you liked her. LOL. Dont mind me. Memories.

I remember My Grandfather's Horses. He had a pair of Massive Clydesdale Horses. His name was Herb and his property was just off the edge of B. Lake. They were beautiful animals and won shows at the time. Also he had about 30 head of cattle at one time I remember. I never counted them but that is what was being told to this then 5 year old kid who pronounced Tractor as (Tract Tore) instead of (Trac ter) That would be my Uncle Paul that let me in on that tidbit of language memory.
