Auction EK Honda Civic Hatchback - Mechanical Damage?

- While at an auto auction, I came across this 1998 Honda Civic EK Hatchback. These are becoming more rare as the years go by. A true icon of the Honda scene in the 90's until today. This car looks to be stolen though. Is it worth restoring?

@@stupidvideos1449 I would say do some light mods not extreme, maybe nice wheels but not an arm and a leg wheels, nice coilovers *but not slammed* just an inch lower or something around that so it looks nice, no crazy camber, if the engine is trashed maybe a b18 swap..... a b18B swap it is a bad option for some but at the same time a better engine just keep the b18b *stock* don't do anything to that apart from maintenance, idk if there are oem bigger honda brakes that fit in the ek but if possible something like that if not just put a little more aggressive pads on stock brakes, idk if some people would agree but changing the steering wheel to another one from a more modern civic like the fk civic wheel, a nice audio system, some seats like the steering wheel from a fk civic but an si civic in specific and the rest keep it as is, that should make it a nice car to ride and take to a trackday and touge and etc while still being pretty much daily drive able
edit. I almost forgot, the 5th gear can be changed to use an ls trans gear to make it longer wouldn't say it is something to do to it but doing it would make it nicer to drive on the highway aand change the gauge cluster to one with an rpm counter, I know that really doesn't matter that much but would be nice to see from time to time how the engine passes 6k rpms and keeps going up until redline
Just do the k swap b swaps are expensive af now. Get hasport mounts. Nice coilovers, hondata and a few little bolt ons. Nice rims and tires and that’s a car. People where I’m from would die for a clean ek hatch k swapped cleanly.
Idk about supercharged or turbo, but id LOVE a full N/A, ITB K series build. Wont make crazy power but would be a blast to drive
Wheels, tires, short-shifter, swaybars, z6 head, intake and transmission. Thats all I did to my 95 and it's so fun to drive.
That thing is so clean. If you have the kit you really should consider getting this. It would be a wonderful car

A mechanical issue is nothing to that adult lego toy. The body on that car is absolutely worth every penny so long as there is not rust underneath

Best part is, even with rust, it’ll still last you 100k more miles

Lol My first car had that engine. Blown head gasket and would overheat in about 10 mins. Only drove it on the freeway because that was the only way to keep it from completely overheating and shutting off. Good times

This is actually the rarest EK hatch color sold in the US, Taffeta White, only available for the 2000 model year, on hatches believe it or not it's rarer than Midori Green. There's like 2200 taffeta white hatches, and 5000 midori green hatches.

My track car is a old Civic, and so is my daily. They where just great back then, they still had something to prove.
You don't need anything that's mechanical if you're going to swap it. Body looks perfect and that's all that matters. Probably a good price for mechanical damage. I'd jump all over that one plus it's 99-00 front end. Definitely the one to get!
I love Hondas. I didn’t always. But now that I understand them. They are a blessing to the car industry 😊

Old manual transmissions especially out of Japanese made cars always feel amazing, my transmission has 130k miles put through it and has no shifter bushings and needs the return spring replaced but it still shifts great

I miss mine so much that car was bulletproof best daily I ever owned. Just basic maintenance, timing belt had already been done. Used to get @40mpg.

hondas will always be my number 1 preference i know there badass hondas outhere but the ek is just the one for me 💯
That's nice and all, but you need to remember that Hector is going to be running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines. And on top of that he just came into Harry's and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust.
Just sold my 2000 Civic Hatchback. Was in great condition and planned on K Swapping it! But decided to get rid of it and fund the Datsun/RB25 project 😂. I would recommend getting this car. I owned that Civic since 2011 and it was a great car to drive. Completely stock, never modified and it even had manual windows lol.

If you buy it, do what my dad did to his EK. Garret turbo, k24a3, doctronic ecu. But not a dry k24. We got drag cartel, wiseco pistons, and Manley rods

I used tonhave a '93 Del Sol Si, and it had the best feeling transmission ever. It wasn't stiff, but it wasn't sloppy, and you could just bang-shift it all day, and it wouldn't care. Linkages are just so much nicer than cables.

I have a Vtec hatchback from 99. It was great up until the point where I had to get MOT done, it had no cat. I put on a cat but the exhaust fumes were still too bad, and a leakdown test revelead that I need new pistonrings.
