One sticking point, solved unconventionally (28 = row 2 column 8): 28, 17, 78, 87 (XY-Wing in grid corners; two-way chain from R9C1), 95, 64, 51, 32, 82, 75, 74, 53, 91, 93, 32, 11, 72, 71, 99, 97, 83, 63, 55, 67, 79, 77, 26, 45, 59, 38, 27, 39, 19, 24, 35, 23, 34, 36, 44, 48, 56, 68, 42, 62, 46, 66, 47, 57, 15, 33, 13, 84, 86. Dear Timberlake, I've been a bit out of sorts over the last month, but I'm now perking up again. Thank you so much for featuring some of my puzzles throughout October. I was hoping to see some of the harder ones, but those that you showed had a fair range of medium and low-end hard techniques. From now on, to avoid criticism from some viewers, I'll post grids with a minimum HoDoKu score of 1000.
Your puzzles were a joy to feature, Julian. I found some interesting strategies in this mid tier puzzles. I may another round. Of your suggested puzzles on the future. Glad you are feeling better.
It took me 76 minutes to get the first solution. Then 15 additional minutes to check other solutions didn't exists, I have prooved there is only one solution (I wrote my solution sketch for myself, but didn't care about writing out the details, this time I'm more interested in now seeing your video after I solved it). I used bifurcation, in fact trifurcation for a 7 in 3 places in the same quadrant. I used to call bifurcation "suposiciones" in spanish (I'm argentinian) before this video, I haven't read sudoku literature or community, interesting! It took a lot of effort. I used to do bifurcation in paper and it was a mess of pencil everywhere, in this websites it's way more organized with ctrl+z and ctlr+y! I just got the idea next time I try it on paper, I could make a copy of the whole sudoku before attempting it! Thank you for the puzzle and I'll watch the video eventually after I rest after this hard ordeal!
Solved (over an hour. but I got there without birfucating). 2-string kite (or I guess it's an XY-wing) from the 12 in R1C9 knocks out the 3 in R9C1. Another 2-string kite (or I guess an XY-wing) disambiguates the 67 pair in block 5. I spotted the first XY-wing before I even finished Snyder marking, took me forever to see the second one. I never did figure out what's special about the blue cells, watching to see how you did it. [Watched] - OK, you just did the routine stuff in different order from me, I didn't get to the blue cells until almost the end just because I was doing routine stuff elsewhere on the board.
Nice job finding the XY-Wing so quickly. I'm glad you watched to figure out why some of the cells were blue. I think you would love the rest of the pack. Have you considered joining the Smartie Party?
I finished the puzzle at my usual slow rate. With sufficient pencilmarking, I noticed that the four shaded cells formed a quad once a 4 was removed from the top one -- and a 4 was indeed removed. I found a superfluous 189 XYZ-wing that removed an 8. A 123 Y-wing removed a 3 from the fourth corner, and led to a 456 Y-wing that gave me a few more digits and removed the 4. I think that the rest was cleaning the centermarks.
Hi, I am wondering if you can help me with a problem I have with a specific puzzle. I was solving a puzzle and thought the X wing will allow me to place a digit but I was wrong.
