Very useful to learn the W Wing towards the end of the video. I spotted the 89 pair in block 1 and there were a couple of hidden singles that I found and I was able to solve the puzzle after an extended time. Thanks for posting this video!
I filled the same candidates notation free till 12 mins of ur video time .Then i got stuck , sneaked into ur description for the strategies demonstrated , solved it further using wxyz wing on my own, also found the x wing on 1's ( although u hv not mentioned abt the x wing in strategies demonstrated) , just missed the last strategy which was w - wing for 29 pair . Wonderful puzzle indeed!
I have no problem with you peeking at the strategies. I put them there to give you a hint, and also to search my channel for specific puzzles featuring those strategies. 😀
Solved . I just wanted to confirm is my WXYZ wing is different.., no way the same. After searched any other WXYZ wing or other strategy, didn't get it. Puzzle not let to get any other strategy to solve. I find the same WXYZ enough to solve puzzle, X and W wings followed your way. Very good puzzle, hard puzzle, only thing I'm notable to get alternate way. Thanks for the puzzle and good explanation.
For me, the solution to the puzzle came with the 89 pair in column 2, which forces that 789 triple in the south-east area of block 4, and a 4 in r3c3. Note at that stage that the 1s are now restricted to the left side of block 4, and hence, the rofght side of block 7 is confirmed to be a 125 triple, and you can solve for 3 in r9c1 and r4c2, and hence 6 in r4c3 and r7c2, and 4 in r9c2. This info was enough for me to finish promptly without any strategy other than basic sudoku. Fun puzzle
@GT I , too , discovered the same 789 triple in box 4 and pointing 6's in box 4 but how can you justify at that point of time , the 1's restricted to the left side/ col of block 4 ?
@@sharmilisharmili472 I realise there was a short cut in my comment, sorry !. Good catch !:) I actually had to work quite a bit on row 4 to establish that what seemed to be a bi-value 16 cell at r4c3 was in fact a 6. I do not remember exactly how, but I reached a point where I had a 12 in col 1 and in column 7
@@jefferystephens7677 Awesome. We all start somewhere. I hope to see you in the comments more and hear how you are doing with your solving journey. 😊👍🏻
When you found the 489 triple in column 7 at around 11:48, you wrongly concluded that you needed 1, 2, 6, 7 to complete column 7. (Column 7 already had a 7). That led you to falsely conclude that R4C7 was restricted to 12, which was wrong. You should have concluded that 1,2,3,6 was needed to complete column 7, leading R4C7 to be not a bivalue cell, but instead a 123. Leaving you with a very difficult completion from that point on.

That was complicated, I could never have solved it without your help.
This was a tough one, Bill. Have you heard of W-Wings or WXYZ-Wings before those video?
@@SmartHobbies Yes I have seen them before, but I only do the Newspaper puzzles which don't usually need these strategies to solve the puzzle.
@@billdaniel8310 I love doing the newspaper puzzles as well.

Cool, Georges. Glad to see you had enough with the 1s and 789 triple to get the rest of the way. Thank you for sharing.

It's fine.
11:57 couldn’t be a 2,7 because of the 2 in the bottom box lol
Nice catch, Chris. I mistakenly marked 7 down the column instead of 3s 😮
76 minutes 😅 I was stuck looking for a chain but was able to solve it using the unique rectangle technique.
I am impressed that you stuck with it. This puzzle was not easy. What type of unique rectangle did you use?
Took me 28 minutes but I got it except where I made a couple mistakes because of fat fingers 😆
Nice job Jeffery! Have you solved any of Bondye’s puzzles before?
Actually no. I'm pretty new to hard level puzzles

So u work day goes doing sudoku, maybe say boss 4 day work week
I wish!
R1C5 would be 15 not 17. It ended okay though.

@@aaronwells8836 thanks, that was my problem too, I don't get it, why there could not be 3 instead of 1 in R4C7 at this moment
