Bought an Aeroburner Mini recently - love it. 12°, stiff shaft, hit it as far than my 10° "big driver", but with less effort and more consistency. Can even just about hit it off the deck and goes further than the 3 wood. It's essentially replaced both 3w and Driver in one for me.

Super useful video! In my opinion, you make the most relatable golf videos that are also informative on the Internet. Even more so than Mark Crossfield, who can be a bit obscure sometimes

Another option is going with something similar to my bag setup. I have 2 drivers, 1 9° head clicked down 1, and a 10.5° clicked up 2. Followed by either a 5 wood or 17° super hybrid of some sort. The higher lofted driver gives me plenty of control and is only about 10 yards shorter.
I will say I don't have super high swing speed, and 3 wood was basically a tee only club for me, so I added the 2nd driver originally with the thought of backup driver for travel, but it's stayed in the bag after testing.

I dropped the driver. I use my 3W as my driver. Also, I switched to senior shafts. I set no distance records for sure. I do get that ball on the short grass more often than not. I cannot say that for any driver. My goal is to erase hero shot attempts from my brain and do not lose a ball. If a par 5 takes four shots to get on, I have a chance for par. Sometimes I 'm close to the pin and one putt for a par. I'm really put time into practicing my short clubs to include lagging with the putter. That pays off for shaving strokes. Driver, mini-driver, 3W, 5W, 7W, use what you can use to keep it in the fairway most consistently.

@@jeffnahass8373 That is cool. My 3W is an old Calloway Steelhead III from 2002. I added lead tape to the bottom of the trail side of the head to balance it out with my shaft. I can get 210 to 215 from the tee. Dink and dunk it.

I like the smaller head with more density. I went back to a Titleist 975 with an X100 shaft. The large head is just too freaking big.

Yeah I feel the newer ones are touch to close to an actual driver. But theirs a market out for those typical heads as well.

@@jeffnahass8373not quite, moment of emerita is an objects resistance to twisting torque force times distance, ie more weight further from the force creates more resistance to that torque that’s why they are big… I do put lead tape on my driver though because force is mass times acceleration…. I can’t swing faster, but I can swing stronger with more weight it tends to go further for me at least… the bigger head gives better forgiveness is what I’m trying to say

Hit 2004 cobra ss 350 cc driver head with reg flex mid flight shaft just a far as my pxg gen 4 driver with senior flex shaft. My cleveland comp launcher 3 wood goes 10 yards less off the tee box. 3 wood and mini driver head have more club head speed and straighter ball flight with a good swing. Newer clubs don't always ensure better performance!

So I have an Aeroburner mini myself which comes in and out the bag. Mainly when I’m playing a shorter course and don’t need the length of my driver or perhaps my 5 wood in the bag as not going to use it. A prime example is one local course where there is only one par 5 and if you hit a good drive then it’s only a 5 iron in. While there a plenty of holes, actually pretty much all that dont need the length of a driver. One par 4 is only 235ish so perfect mini for me. Therefore in that case the mini is a great club in the bag and very accurate. On a longer course I will always stick with my driver and 5 wood to get more distance off the tee and have the option of the 5 wood off the fairway on par 5s.

I had a problem a number of years ago and i took an inch off my driver (well i bought it an inch shorter so it was done properly)....the problem was more in my head but i never even considered a mini driver...i had a 3 wood that was adjustable so i dialled that down to 13 degrees while i waited for my new driver. The new driver worked brilliantly i was hitting it out the sweet spot (mostly) so I actually gained distance overall. Sure a perfect strike with my older driver went a little bit further (only about 8 yards) the new shorter length shaft meant even my bad drives were still somewhere on the course and playable. Kept that for 2 years then went and got a new driver (normal length) and just carried on driving much better. It was actually about 15 yards longer now because i was confident i was swinging a bit faster.
My point is that with many 3 woods now you can lower the loft and you don't have to pay out for a mini driver as your 3 wood can do that job for most of us

Had a cobra f8 driver and ended up cracking the face , not willing to spend a lot of money at the time for a newer driver , I end up finding a old callaway big Bertha Hawkeye for 30$. After playing it for a year it’s older that the rest of my clubs by 20 years but with the smaller head it’s so much more consistent than any new driver I’ve tried and I can’t get rid of it as much as I’d like to !

I cut 2 inches of the shaft of my Ping G30 driver, results, more consistent, more penetrating flight, and no loss of distance, in fact I'd say 10 yards longer

I don’t understand the mini driver… I’ve never been paid a cent to play golf… so I might as well put on a show?… your average golfer I feel should care less about their scores and have more fun…. I really don’t care if I loose a cheap Bridgestone e6 on that par 5, pull a fresh one out of my pocket and crush it!… that’s stroke number 1 sir and yes we will still double bogey that sucker after a 4 putt and a foot wedge… who cares I’m not going through the mental gymnastics of adding up my score at the end but I will remember the feel of that 300 yard tank on the 18th that keeps bringing me back to the game!… swing hard just in case you hit it!!!
