I'm still rockin a 16 GB Air 2. At the end of the day, I mainly use the iPad to read, or watch video, or even as a media remote for devices such as the Chromecast. The larger screen is easier on my eyes then a phone. So, my iphone is pretty much just that, a phone, a wallet for apple pay and way to get a ride with a service such as uber. Great video as always, have a great day!
Clinton W Salvato I bought my 64 GB iPad Air 2 and am also very happy with it, using it as a Pro device. Am also currently testing iOS 11 which makes the iPad Air 2 even more powerful. I don’t regret not buying the Pro last year.
I'm looking forward to seeing what iOS 11 brings. I still have an iPhone 6. Even though I can upgrade now, Haven't really felt like I've needed more then I have. My main reason to upgrade now, would be to get a new device under warranty. When I first got my mobile devices I pushed them more then I do now just to see what they could do. Now that I've settled into a regular usage routine, I find my heaviest use still comes from the computers.
I can understand that, if you plan to store a lot on the device. In my case though, I don't have a lot on the device, and most apps are online or network related, so, no data is really stored on the device. Most of my storage is connected to my iMac as that's where most of my data is. The last time I checked, I had between 9 and 10 GB free on the iPad with my regular set of apps.
I just recently buyed the 9,7 IPad I thing the Slightly more Little Screen helps alot with the Reachability and the overall control on iOS you can reach the back Botton at Apps Better because of the Reduced hight at landscape and also Portrait mode
I bought my iPad Pro yesterday and I was on the fence about going for the 9.7 model 128 GB, or the 10.5 64 GB (9.7 128 was 30 dollars cheaper than 10.5 64 as of the time of this comment) I ended up sacrificing a little performance to obtain double the storage capacity, considering that my iPhone 64 GB is coming down to a10% space left, so I set the sail for the 128GB 9.7. I'm planning to upload movies and probably download all my photos from iCloud for immediate, non network dependent access to all my over 6000 photos. There will be plenty of room for all the music library too. My main use is multi tasking for productivity, PPTs, pdfs, agenda, note taking, etc, and steaming videos and Netflix. I'm not an artist but I got me an Apple Pencil along with the purchase to play around with note taking mainly. Which way would you have gone ? Give me your thoughts guys. Thx
I have the 9.7" pro model and I got a good deal on Groupon even though it's a refurbished model. That being said, I don't think I'm going to upgrade unless it's very significant to the new model. I need to upgrade my iPhone but I'm waiting for the 7s plus or the 8. For my needs, the Pencil replaces the mouse and makes it almost a laptop replacement, but the Surface Pro is not a perfect laptop replacement.
...Yes, very well, but can we talk about that techno-shrine on those shelves at right? Because I feel the shrine deserves its own long discussion. Admirable. Formidable
What brand of alternate keyboard would you recommend? Thinking about getting this for my sister but she doesn't care for their keyboard/cover. She's a late blooming student with limited space so something that can also be used with her Air 2 and phone would also be great, if there is such a thing. Thanks.
Any thoughts on using it in portrait mode without a case - as in, is the bezel to the left and right in portrait mode wide enough not to avoid accidental screen touches?
For a mobile processor this thing flies but until iPad gets some sort of hybrid OS X operating system it will never be a laptop replacement for many - unless all you're only browsing the web and other similes light tasks..
Question of the century! Will USB devices be recognized by the yet to be released. FILE app? For example will I be able to hook up my dash cam and move files off it to the iPad. No? Then not a PC replacement nor full featured. Staff at the Apple Store...no idea. Also: printing. It's a "problem" that the only way to print with iOS is wireless. I have mine working but it's far from a no brainer with legacy printers that don't support AirPrint directly.
Going to wait for a big upgrade to the 12, get that, give my 9.7 to my wife. I have the WiFI/3G along with the keyboard case, pen, and about 8 other cases, so thats too much money to throw away after a year.
If you own the 9.7 pro model you really definitely don't need to upgrade to this in my opinion. Don't give me wrong it's a great piece of kit but still unless if you're really a pro user and you need some aspects of the absolute newest model and you run your life business stuff off of it then it's viable but for people that do have the 9.7 and use it more like a normalized iPad or not as their primary device but as a companion device they can definitely still do the job quite easily. And has great cameras great screen still and is very fluid and just until before this came out that was the top-of-the-line as is with all technology. That's my opinion and advice to anybody don't upgrade if you don't need to you can only get better as time goes on LOL
Good review my friend. It's a nice machine but just to expensive. It seems like everything you said was always EXTRA. Not even a set of headphones? That at least needs to be included again. Great review man, I'm going to look elsewhere for a tablet.
Great Video as always. However, how can you call the case elegant when the keyboard flops around and doesn't even lay flat. It doesn't seem like a $159 case. More what you would expect with a cheap $29 knock off. Keep up the great reviews.
I think it's a mistake for Apple (or anyone) to try to force iOS to become a "productive" interface. It never will, it will just make the consumption-first aspects of it more frustrating. Even though I'm all-Android, for argument's sake, I'll accept that iOS 10 is pretty much ideal for a "normal consumer's" tablet. IMO, what they should do instead is make a "desktop mode" of iOS that you can switch on and off, or that recognizes when a keyboard/mouse is attached and asks which mode to deploy. That mode can function basically like MacOS, but more optimized for a small tablet screen and running iOS tablet-style Apps. I think normal people would really dig this.
I get why they do it... they want that "extra 100 bucks" to be a no-brainer... but Apple makes me mad with their storage options. Every entry-level iPad now should have 128 GB storage
I highly recommend not getting the Apple Keyboard case. Go with the Logitech Slim Combo instead. It has a backlit keyboard, shortcut keys and Apple pencil holder. All these extra features for $140 (Logitech) vs $150 (Apple)
Yes, they released both models at the same time. As a matter a fact, they worked with Apple, who helped them be the first one on the market with third party keyboard case. They are in high demand since they have been sold out for the past few days at all the Apple stores near me.
It's pretty easy, I have an iPad Air 2 and an iPad Pro 12.9" - if you're not a welfare slob just buy both. But lets say you are an EBT card carrier then you really only need the iPad Pro for one reason - and it's a huge reason - and that is the Apple Pencil which is simply the best device of it's type I've ever used - and that includes full sized Wacom tablets. The Apple Pencil is a fantastic device and the photo/art apps for the iPad have gotten really really impressive. If you like to draw - like really draw in detail, an iPad Pro is one of the best devices you can buy at any price. If you're not going to draw or do stuff where you need to be very exacting, then just stick with a normal iPad. Sure the iPad Pro is faster and sounds much much better, but anything newer than an iPad Air 2 is really really fast and you're not going to notice much of a performance difference. If you have an iPad older than the 1st gen iPad Air then you should upgrade already, those things will quickly because unusable the second you use anything new.
Honestly your a piece of shit for saying that “ slobs on welfare “ by your logic can’t afford nice things ? I’d hate to be you for a day I’m sure there’s many people out there on welfare who I’d rather associate with then you
Well said rod I completely agree, theres a lot of salty poor people watching this video. I don't understand, if you don't like apple ( or can't afford their devices ) why watch the video ?
John Squarez I can appreciate that you like bezels and that's fine but they don't protect your screen from intact they are part of your screen at the border which is glass and really has no difference when I comes to protection I can understand your hesitation when regards to your thumb or your fingers interacting with the screen intentionally but their software is pretty good regardless everybody has a preference and I don't knock you for it
John Squarez I agree. Whenever I use one of the older iPads I always appreciate having a place to hold the iPad without covering the screen, however, there may be some 3rd party cases that fix that issue. I've got a case for my 2017 "cheap" iPad that actually adds extra width to give the user something to grip. It even has concave ridges at the back that make it even more comfortable to hold. The brand of that case is called "Kayscase" protective case.
Sad how some people hate an object. Idiots. Of course their are a lot of shills out their paid by Apple's competitors to say, :I hate Apple" Waaaaaahhhh!!!!

$150 for the keyboard case!? Madness! I do love the iPad though.

Benjamin Jungbluth yeah reachability is a huge issue when you're as fat as you are
Yeah well you're a kiwi fuck so I'd rather be fat.
I just got the ipad pro 9.7 128gb model 2016 refurbished. Im happy.
Camilo Velasquez the 9.7 pro will outdated soon. Cuz only 2GB RAM iOS 11 and up will get more animations feature
You did fine, Camilo. The iPad Pro 9.7 is a great tablet and you'll get many years of use out of it!! Congrats!
Lambert J. Thank you for your comment ! We ended up also buying a 10.5 iPad so we can enjoy them in the family for some years to come !
Got mine yesterday as well. First iPad since the first gen Retina mini. Big step-up :)
I have the 9.7" pro model and I got a good deal on Groupon even though it's a refurbished model. That being said, I don't think I'm going to upgrade unless it's very significant to the new model. I need to upgrade my iPhone but I'm waiting for the 7s plus or the 8.

Put OS X on an iPad and I'll buy one today. iOS just doesn't cut it for me.
MacOS is getting closer and closer to iOS unfortunately.
No I don't need it, but I want it! Just can't decide if I want space grey or silver, ugh first world problems.
Lon, always letting you know what you need to know
Should I sell my 2017 9.7 standard iPad to the 10.5 pro?
Great review! I'd love one, but I can't justify the price. I use an iPad Air mostly to browse the web, watch TH-cam videos, and listen to podcasts.
With all the other (cheaper) options out there now, you’re insane if you spend 160 on that cheaply made keyboard case.
...Yes, very well, but can we talk about that techno-shrine on those shelves at right? Because I feel the shrine deserves its own long discussion. Admirable. Formidable
Finally, a decent comparison
Thanks for tuning in!
Hey Lon, Always a great review!!! I'm also curious why a mouse from Apple or a work around isn't available. Seems silly. J
+J Hort in sure there have been some debates in their offices about this. Likely they don't want to cannibalize Mac sales just yet
Great review,
Liked, subbed 👍

+Carmen Nooner I need to look into that - I haven't used a third party keyboard in awhile but I am sure there will be new ones soon.
Thank you very much for this great review for the new iPad pro
appreciate it
Wonderful review ,very comprehensive.
Great video👍
Excellent review, congratulations.
Thanks!

Thankyou. Nice review.
$810ish for base model and keyboard. That's tough to take.
handquake just say you’re poor.
lol
handquake That's Apple. And that's why I hate it.

i got the ipad 10.5!!!
Interesting Review. Still, I don't like Apple much and this didn't really change my mind.
Will you reply to this comment and if you do would you say the 10.5 iPad Pro is a worthy upgrade from the iPad Air 1
definitely

I'm an aspiring single oxygen trying to pair with one of my brothers. What advice could you give to this lonely atom
Where is your review of the iPad Pro 12"?
+majorghn I have not reviewed the 12
Man I wish all smart devices had 120hz
Well said. Thanks.
The only thing hung I do now t like about iPad Pro. Is that you can only message other apple users, where as with android you can message anyone.
+Edward Bishop if you link to your iPhone it will also SMS
Not the first, not the most, but the best.
If my keyboard popped up like that I would return in. I have the Smart Keyboard for the 9.7 and that is not normal.
legends says that ,"lon doesn't reply to comments".
What legend is that?
"Priceless" ... ;)
legend says that Lon doesn't send this iPad Pro to StanSprinkle as a gift, just cuz
gumball Wrong! He most certainly does, if comment warrants a reply or response.
That's a myth
I get why they do it... they want that "extra 100 bucks" to be a no-brainer... but Apple makes me mad with their storage options. Every entry-level iPad now should have 128 GB storage

I still think the 9.7 iPad looks better. Plus I will save some money and just get the 32GB Space Gray 2017 iPad instead.
Do Geekbench & Antutu, you'll see the difference. ;)
That keyboard is atrocious.
I hate that everyone is getting rid of bezels. I like bezels. they protect the device from impact and on tablets they let you rest your thumb
Umm... bigger bezels give no extra protection to the device. Not to mention how dated the side bezels on last gens iPad look in comparison.

No kidding, you need to be able to hold the device somewhere, having a bezel allows you to do that.
John Squarez soooooo don't upgrade?
Hey lon even though I absolutely hate Apple I still enjoyed the review I just wanted to tell you good job on the videos
Master Chef2462
I hate apple too!
Master Chef2462 what a coincidence i hate apple too
Master Chef2462 I absolutely love Apple and I enjoy my new iPad Pro
G. nice
Sad how some people hate an object. Idiots. Of course their are a lot of shills out their paid by Apple's competitors to say, :I hate Apple" Waaaaaahhhh!!!!
Get an Eve-V instead - is a full Windows tablet that comes with keyboard and stylus inc. for the same price.
(With better specs too of course)
Oscar Cooke-Abbott And how thick is that? How heavy? Does it have 120hz? Does it have ultra low latency? Does it have P3 wide gamut?
Oscar Cooke-Abbott nope. This iPad is just as powerful as that one
Oscar Cooke-Abbott What score does it get in Geekbench 4
Oscar Cooke-Abbott thats thousand of dollars
That's just a giant iPad mini
an iphone is just a smaller ipad mini
a macbook is just a larger ipad mini with a keyboard
an ipod is just a smaller ipad mini that isn't touch screen and can only play music
Old Macs in the background lol lol lol
It would be funny if they said there wasn't enough room in the iPad pro for a headphone jack. Lol.
I prefer ipads because it's still have the headphone jack
covfefe?
Is this what apple calls innovation?
Tom Tom
apparently. REAL innovation comes from MICROSOFT. go Windows mobile!
A.S. B.R. Or Android devices like the galaxy s8 which Apple will innovate by copying
Tom Tom Find an android tablet with better technology, go on, I'm expecting a reply probably a year from now lol
Tom Tom They aren’t copying Samsung. The iPhone 8/Edition will have a 4K 60 front and back camera Thinner bezels, won’t be tricked by a photo with facial recognition
Crapple. Just burn you money if you want to waste it that bad.
iPad is overrated, overhyped, and overpriced.
Aqua Angelo Michael so are your wife
I hate apple. so I will not be getting this
Anthony R. Mine delivered today 🔥😁
