besides singing which is in some rap, both metal vocals and rap do not have a defined pitch and are completely reliant and based off of rhythm. you can take rap vocals and turn them into metal vocals, you can take metal vocals and turn them into rap.
Incredible melodic mastery demonstrated by this band. One of the most under-known bands I have ever heard. I want to say "underrated", but I seriously doubt that anyone who hears this music would rate it under anything but special.
i love absolutely everything about this band. everything works so well. even the rap. and the screams sound so evil. i love this band. definitely deserve to become massive

@@willmurphy8650 Hey, man! I do remember you and your brother in the earlier records! Loved how much atmosphere YOUR keyboards added to the sound. It somehow gave me a mix of Final Fantasy Music & Pipe Organ *vibes*. Be it Revitalized EP or 3.14, loved those so much. The 2011 teaser promised to be a masterpiece I know about JIA, but nothing seems to be happening. I believe Marc either has guest appearances or some side project, same for Eddie, these guys are incredible musicians. Dang it, Rob's vocals are phenomenal but I can't even guess what he does these days. And same goes for you and your brother. PIE was such an incredible thing, comprised of incredible talents. You came there and created something truly unique that forever stays in my top 3 bands. Akin to Native Construct, that made 1 masterpiece and disappeared. But over a decade I still hope that you might return, it's so sad if you won't But hey, I'm super glad to hear you're still around! Would be cool if you guys at least listed your projects somewhere. Also where do I look for PIE updates or for your personal project updates? I appreciate you reaching out. I and my friends have been fans since being university freshmen, 12 years ago and till now. Oh memories. And aside that, the music is just that good so I listen to these EPs to these days. Cheers from Russia, hope you guys are all doing well. Looking forward to the updates =)

You two managed to get this good at music, yet also found the time to get good at something entirely different. Hats off to both of you
For some reason this is the first time listening with headphones. I thought this song was great before but now, I thhinnnk wait what? I just heard an indescribable sound. I liked it.
Jazz has a very common starting point that most people nowadays will tell you they start. Start with the Miles Davis album "Kind of Blue". it is a beautiful album and from there you can start listening to other eras of Miles Davis or you can move to people like Ellington or Armstrong. those two are fantastic.
Thanks everyone for showing mad love on the songs just want to let everyone know how much we appreciate it and for giving this an INSANE Like to Dislike ratio! sincerely, Robert Richards and them 3.14 sexy boys
I first heard this song back in high school. I went to a performing arts magnet program where I was a guitar major. One day during my freshman year I saw some upperclassmen as well as a couple of my freshman classmates huddled around the large stereo system the guitar teacher had installed in his classroom. They were talking about this incredible underground band that they claimed had written the most mind-blowing song they’d ever heard. Surely enough, they put this on. Now, personally I have never been big on growling, especially not back then when my musical tastes hadn’t broadened much, so I was only half paying attention to the first half of the song... but then it went _”So you will not_ *choose.”* (3:44) Then it happened. The song went quiet, and in comes a SEXY fucking jazz section. I was floored. There was no _way_ I heard that right. This wasn’t a jazz-infused riff or a jazzy solo over a blast beat, this was a legitimate, honest to god jazz break. It was serene, and it was absurd, and it was wonderful. Then it seamlessly transitioned into a fucking *CRUSHING* breakdown in a way that oddly enough brought to mind Testament, specifically Souls of Black era Testament. (5:23) It was an eye opener for sure. I still have this song on my iPhone to this day. Maybe it’s time I finally learned to play it... that is, if I can figure it out by ear. I have never been particularly good at that, and I doubt many tabs exist of this relatively obscure song, much less any _accurate_ tabs.
Jeez, I forgot how Goddamn good this song and EP were. Even more amazing, considering the level of musicianship, is that half the band was under 20 years old when this was written. Rob is really a super talented vocalist. Catchy cleans, quality screams, good lyricist and the rapping somehow works (lyrics make me laugh every time). So glad PIE has rebooted with Rob, and still have the core of Mark (lead guitar) and Eddie (drums). Just fantastic musicians. I really hope they are able to finally put something out, ad the world needs to hear their music; it's that good. Good luck, fellas.
look im just saying that any band that can incorporate progressive metal, rap, hardcore, and FUCKING JAZZZ into a song is seriously amazing its something i have never heard before and im stunned at how well it played out like when i heard jazz and hardcore together i was like eww wtf but i may have to change my pants after hearing this musical genius you guys are definitely going places and im going to make sure i have no plans so i can go to your show in august
Ok here's some background for you. Most metal fans don't know what real jazz is. They will usually say something is jazzy if its soft (like btbam's soft parts) but that's not honest to goodness jazz. This song however has ACTUAL jazz in it at 3:50. The guitarist is hybrid picking and comping, the drummer is giving a soft swing and snare rolls, the bassist is holding back and playing some blue notes here and there, the piano has a classic jazz style to it. It's beautiful their versatility.

@Cammadore64 i think that was the point. but they're also quite intelligent - it's like a foreshadowing of Painted In Exile's rise (now you see us on the frontpage), but i think it's also just taking the piss out of rap artists
This song has nu-metal/pop rock, hardcore, metal, jazz, and rap qualities with some subtle symphonic hints. At first I thought this was going to be a typical nu-metal song with rap style lyrics that lack any kind of complexity then it kept throwing new angles to the music until I'm completely upside-down wondered what just happened. And to hear rap, guttural, scream, and clean lyrics in one song is shocking, and at the same time pretty damn cool. I'm interested to see how these guys progress.
I think the transition to the jazz section is "filler" in that while we wait for the decision of the children to choose who's life they will take, here's some nice jazz to pass the time.
