We Americans almost didn't get to experience roxette. An exchange student brought back their album from Sweden and begged his local radio station to play it. After some time and it never played student went to reclaim his album. Station played it at the last minute and that one time play caused it to spread like wildfire across the states. I'm so thankful for that student. Roxette hands down is the soundtrack to my teen years!!

The b side to this track ‘I could never give you up’ is fantastic, features a Spanish guitar in the middle eight section and is on ‘look sharp’ album too. Great reaction to this amazing song, thank you

RIP Marie Fredriksson. Amazing voice. Amazing spirit to battle the after-effects of a horrific brain tumour. Life saving treatment but the results were traumatic. Battled that for 18 years when they only gave her 12 months to live originally. Per Gessle wrote most of the songs, Marie sung most of the lead vocals. They also have the best "home videos" from all their tours.

True talent is very sexy regardless of what someone looks like.
But like you said, no problem with people having work done. As Dolly Parton said, "if something is bagging, sagging or dragging, I'll tuck it, suck it or pluck it."

Marie was a huge fan of Joni Mitchell. Marie even performed in front of her at an awards ceremony in Sweden. Joni can be seen in the audience with her eyes closed enjoying her performance, taking it all in. Per gifted Marie a portrait of her favourite artist for her birthday once.

Very well said about the female performers! Although less common in the 80's and to some extent the 70's there were some girls that dressed in a way that clearly screamed, "I have no talent and do not understand the subtle art of being seductive." Then there were so many women that could show up in a 'potato sack,' and have everyone following them around like puppy dogs. The women from the 40's into the 90's more often than not were there due to talent and did not have to sell their bodies to get a legion of adoring fans.
People just liked the bands and the terms girl band or boy band were mostly used to denote a band that was just barely shy of being gimmicky. Heart was talked about just like any other rock band at the time. Joan Jett and Lita Ford as well. There will always be outliers and there were some girl bands like Vixen where they were more about selling sex than music.

Would love for you to react to some Cliff Richard, I've been waiting for someone to. Or atleast a great reactor like you anyway. Not blowing smoke, but there are very few truly good ones out there, atleast not ones I tune into every day anyway.
He is a great UK talent with the most number one hits for any artist in the UK. And a very very long career. On this list are some of his sixties songs aswell as eighties and so on.
    Cliff Richard songs:
    We Don't Talk Anymore
    Mistletoe and Wine
    Theme for a Dream
    Do You Want to Dance
    Lucky Lips
    The Day I Met Marie
    Scarlet Ribbons (for her hair)
    She's so Beautiful
    Spanish Harlem
Suddenly (duet with Olivia Newton John)
    True Love Ways
    The Twelfth of Never
    Two Hearts
    When I Need You

Thank you for your reaction, Chod! I love it when you do blindsides, which I assume this was. I don't know if this is true or urban legend but I have heard that this group was all but unknown in North America until some producer put their song "It Must Have Been Love" in a movie called "Pretty Woman" that pretty much made a star out of Julia Roberts. That song and "Joyride" are other songs you may wish to react to if you wish! Anne and Nancy Wilson of Heart are two more women you missed, but your heart is in the right place (if you'll pardon the pun)!

'The Look' launched them pretty hard after an American exchange student brought it backback home from sweden and asked his local radio station to play it. As it lay in limbo in a stack on a desk, he got annoyed they didn't play it and went back to ask for it back. Radio station guy went to get it, but thought "might as well pop it in and see what he's so worked up about" heard a few bars and was hooked. Started playing it and it spread fast...

Jesse J is another contemporary singer who is super talented and doesn't need a lot of bells and whistles.
I you ever get the chance, check out her performance of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" or Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" from The Singer 2018 competition in China.

Oh, we had a few female singers who were great vocalists that hyped up their femininity, even if they didn't have work done, for their image in the '60s, '70s, and '80s. Check out Cher in her "Turn Back Time" video, or any of her Bob Mackie outfits on The Sonny and Cher Show. Or, check out Dolly Parton. Both incredible entertainers to whom image was, and still is, very important.
