Absolutely, ACRONYM is exactly that helped me in my secondary and postgraduate studies even in entry-level employment exams and/or competitions. It's been great! It works and really amazing!. Anyone can create the acronym that would be very familiar to his/her activities, hence, easier to remember. Yes, that's the keyword: familiarity, hence, easy to remember.

Dear Scott Brueckner sir, I can recall since 1962 how when my classmates struggled with learning spellings (English) to me it was just the opposite. I could recall the real difficult ones (mostly, not always) without knowing mnemonic at age 6 just God's grace. Suffice to say every moment of your (nearly) hour-long class was interesting. I too started as lecturer in English in 1977. I imagine I can lecture not only when awake, ... that too is God's grace. There is a little secret you missed to impart. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (King Solomon's own words). God bless you for sharing your secrets (tricks).

Then uses the next twelve minutes to demo three common acronym examples. Then uses four minutes to demo the acrostic (sentence instead of word) for EGBDF. Prof seems like a nice fellow. Just go to 28 minutes to get to 5 Qualities of Good Mental Pictures and help with names.

I use to remember names with my own method and that is,
When I meet with a stranger and I ask his or her name, mostly that name I find in my relatives or friends or villagers or school mates or famous personalities or some time the name of places, so i relate he or she with those people or places and then it's easy to me to remember the name of that person

This is great! Thank you so much for sharing this! The two digit squaring of a number ending in 5 also works for 3 digit numbers that end in 5 - 655 ^ 2 = (65*66) and stick 25 at the end = 429025. Harder to do in your head - but a lot faster than the multiplication algorithm. It even works for 4 digit numbers ending in 5 - 6755^2 = 675*676 and stick 25 at the end (I assume it goes on for longer numbers). Maybe you could do a proof of why that works.

      It applies to all integers ending with 5. The proof is like this: (10 * X + 5) (10 * X + 5) = 100 * X * X + 100 * X + 25 = 100 * X * (X+1) + 25
