  • When a person is admitted to hospital, a discussion about "code status" usually takes place. If a person has a "DNR" or Do Not Resuscitate order on their hospital chart, then they would not receive CPR if they pass away. In this video, Dr. Didyk reviews the basics of a DNR discussion in hospital and how a hospital or community DNR order can fit into an older adult's advance care plan.

My mother sadly passed end of April and I remember a few months earlier after my mam had a fall and had a fracture, but got told if my mam didn't come round after the operation they would resuscitate once and if that didn't work would give up , I go back to Robert the Bruce watching a spider toil till it got its web built and not give up at its first attempt, fortunately my mam survived that operation but I felt annoyed at what I perceived, if it was his mother would he have given up at the first attempt,
I can't help feeling the attitude to nursing In the past decades would have tried harder, I am disillusioned.

What about if you are in memory care and you have a DNR BUT they find you unconscious with a pulse? Do they work on you like you were in the hospital?

9:56 I've always thought it was a mistake to let ambulance crews drive very fast when they have critically ill people on board: it puts them in danger. Also people becoming violent is a great reason not to revive someone and let the die, And the elderley get in the way and there's too many people on the planet and...........

10:14 most, most. What about all the medical practioners who don't think the patient's well being is the primary concern, can we have their names and addresses?

10:58 the resources saving old people might better be put elsewhere into for example viagra pills or athlete's foot cream
