My favourite moment was hearing the teacher, Olga Evreinoff call Akane, "Akane-Chan". There is something very sweet and mindful about that. Loved this video!
Amazing. Olga Everinoff is the coach and she knows absolutely everything about the choreography and how to make it completely effective. I can't believe that I had the opportunity to work with her a long time ago. I had about as much talent as a potato and yet she was still kind, demanding and patient.
correct name is olga evreinoff, not everinoff - from russian "evrey" meaning "jew". the language situation in this episode is quite comic. all three of the participants in rehearsal are native russians; all ballet terminology is naturally in french, and the rehearsal takes place in england, so olga evreinoff speaks english w/ballet pianist and w/ballet dancers, but they often switch to russian. also, you can hear olga evreinoff calling vadim muntagirov "vadik" - it is a diminutive for "vadim", muntagirov's first name.
The Coach is wonderful, and also I admire how quickly the dancers respond to her suggestions. There seems to be no ego or mental dullness going on, as compared to real life in amateurville. Nice to see professionals!
Miguelito Miguelito watch „Agony and Ecstasy“, here on TH-cam about English National Ballet. 😅 I can‘t imagine how that ballet master is without a BBC team around 😬🙈
@@mathildewesendonck7225 Yeah, I came here right after watching Agony and was shocked that Olga doesn't put down anybody, or doesn't get irritated. I couldn't blv my eyes and ears. True intelligent a person. I'd say aristocrat.
I don't know how old Olga is here but you can still see elegance in every long line of her body. Her arms and hands are beauty in motion. She has forgotten more than most will ever learn and her love of the dance will always shine out of those fortunate to be trained by her.

Read her biography and do the math (spoiler: she's most likely 90+), she's indestructible.
I fully admire and respect Olga Evreinoff to teach Akane-chan with this minute and precise manner. Akane Takada is I believe one of the best dancers for the role of Nikiya with her extraordinary flexible movements and emotional expressions.
I’ve watched this video I think more than twenty times and it’s always so mesmerizing and ravishing, as the first time. I think the rehearsals have a life no finished piece has... These dancers are so docile and so easily conform to the instructions, and then everything, every movement, every gesture looks so perfect and brilliant. I love these people. They are art themselves, their bodies, their movements, living masterpieces.
Imagine having the passion of your life? You will grow old with soul content of love. The ballerinas, the coach, and pianist , i always think they re doing their job because of love, not money.
I'm discovering Akane Takada in this video and only today. My God! She has beautiful lines, beautiful face and her dancing i stunning. I don't know how old she is but I think it's time for the ROH to show us people with that inner elegance.
I was very young when i saw the ballet in London. Now i am 75. I want to come again & see the ballet. What is the price of a ticket??? Pleas, give me the price for a senior lady . Thanks😄🙏🙏🙏 . I will come especialy from Isrsel.
So grateful to the RB for making so many wonderful videos of class and rehearsal/coaching available for us to see. It occurs to me that I hope they film (videotape, whatever) as many as possible, if not all such sessions, throughout the company and repertoire; what a fantastic resource for future dancers, directors, etc. Sadly, we are all mortal, and these treasured professionals, guiding younger generations with all the wisdom, strategy and artistry they've amassed, will not be living and active forever, so capturing all we can of their work seems essential.
What a treasure Olga Evreinoff is, as is the pianist and of course, the dancers, Osipova, Montagirov and Takada. All are top of the world class professionals and it is such a joy and privilege to be in the room with them, virtually, witnessing this extraordinary coaching session. This is exactly what produces the sterling quality of a Royal Ballet performance, consistently and predictably. Glorious, always! I have watched this video many times, still finding every moment to be worthy of full attention. Evreinoff is really magnificent. Wondering if there are videos of her dancing. I think it was with Leningrad Kirov.
I watched the class video and now this one. I really really like how Olga Evreinoff ran her class and runs this rehearsal. She has a very welcoming presence and also gives really meaningful direction that is specific and understandable. The dancers can make the improvement and correction.
I always took for granted there was lots of work behind ballet but watching this video is just amazing. How they turn in one second from a casual position to the most delicate and sublime movements can only be achieved after many, many years of sacrifice and dedication. As for Ms. Evreinoff, I'm speechless.
Barbara LeMere even I understand it, that means something 😅 „High note in the air“, or „don‘t walk to far downstage, you will run into the group“. That’s really useful and easy to follow. Olga is great!! Many ballet teachers can‘t give clear instructions, I don‘t know why
@Olga Evreinoff...whew! I simply love watching her in creative space and company classes. She is completely the truth and is sensitive to the work and the artist in her teaching and coaching!!! Also, the musician is doing it!!!!!!! I feel you!!!
Royal Opera House thanks for acknowledging Akane - I hadn’t even heard of her before but after watching this video- WOW!!! She deserves to be acknowledged.
These dancers and teachers and musicians are ALL incredible. They are all learning and loving life through music and movement. Such a beautiful gift to watch and listen to.
Wow did any one else see the other dancer doing the splits in the background. And the dance teachers voice is so soothing. Those ballet dancers are absolutely amazing!!
If you are interested in this ballet look out for the Paris Opéra’s Nureyev production with Isabelle Guérin, Laurent Hilaire and the impeccable Élizabeth Platel as Gamzatti. Happy watching..
I love watching these. I have never been a ballerina, but it helps me fall asleep at night visualizing ballet. Thank you for these videos beautiful dancing music and coaching. 💕
I don't know anything about ballet. But this is one of the most magnificent and magical things I've ever seen. I think I want to learn to appreciate ballet.
Gorgeous and Flawless!!💗It's just too mesmerizing to watch Vadim and Natalia even in practice such perfect couple as I enjoyed watching World Ballet Day!!💗
I really enjoyed watching Olga's detailed coaching of Vadim and Natalia. But what also impressed me is that they are all Russians bilingual in English and maybe more languages as well. I think I heard Olga speak French as well in a different video. And I'm also impressed by the other bilingual Royal Ballet stars such as Marienela Nunez and Carlos Acosta.
Akane Takada ist amazing ! And artistically perfect for the role :-) I love this Ballet and will be watching it next Saturday in Berlin. I can not wait, feel so blessed for that :-)

Trust me Akane is just fine the way she is! She flies through the air effortlessly. I've seen both Natalia and Akane back to back playing Giselle and for me I found Akaner quite similar to Natalia in physicality .
Trust me I've been a teacher in Japan for 22 years!! More strength training for her legs and core will transform her performance even more and prolong her career. For example at 6'00''......that's all......she's still a beautiful dancer with so much more potential.
Wow you cant please that coach, she is adorable though, you would certainly want to please her, she is so kind, so detail-oriented, she knows that choreo like the back of her hand, what a legacy she holds in her mind
You please a coach only by doing what's she's asked of you. This isn't a primary school talent show. If they mess up, it could ruin her reputation. She's actually super kind and calm for a ballet teacher of her caliber 😀
"Speak, rather than make a position" . . . brilliant
Yes, Russian souls do speak the best when it comes to artistry.
Also, Osipova is very fluent in this language)))
Olga Evreinoff's coaching is gold. This level of detail makes the difference between a generic performance and artistry.
