    I subscribe to a lot of beauty ‘tubers (I’m sure we all do here) and enjoy their content, however, Lexi strikes me as the most trustworthy of the bunch! Some of the channels with really big subscriber numbers are doing a lot of sponsored content that is transparently disingenuous despite their best efforts-no shame to them, it’s a business model, after all, but I really feel like Lexi tells it like it is no matter what, which I love. Lexi, you are my TH-cam makeup best “friend”!--Oh, and about the foundations, the CDP Radiant Matte is the best formula I own for my oily skin with large pores, CDP for the win!

    Thank you for such a thorough review! I love that you put them in alpha order, label them, provide your color (my coloring is similar to yours), tried them all on, showed the oxidation of colors, ranked them as to your preferences, and provided such a deep dive on the pricing. This is the kind of review that is super helpful for those of us who splurge ever so often. (reminds me of a Consumer Report type of approach to analyzing foundations.
    I wonder, have you tried any of the Tom Ford foundations? I'm curious about the stick foundation.
    Also, have you ever used a concealer as a foundation? I've successfully used the Thrive foundation, great for travel (ease of packing).
    And as per concealers, I find the color-correcting tubes (e.g., from Lancome) that are brightly colored, I have the green and yellow ones, a little fiddly, tricky, and time-consuming. Of late, they have drifted to the bottom of my concealers. What do you think?
    BTW I think the Chanel Les Beige looks the best on you on camera. Your skin is lovely!

    • @LexiJong
      @LexiJong  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! I have not purchased any Tom Ford foundations but I have tried a couple a long time ago. At the time, the stick foundation wasn't impressive on my skin which was oilier than it is now. I know it is a favorite for many people though. I have recently tried a sample of the Shade and Illuminate and I though it was nice but I need to try more of it to get a real feel for it.
      I have used concealers as foundation in the past and occasionally do that with stick concealers/foundations during the summer like the Westman Atelier and Merit sticks or the Jones Road pencils. I haven't tried Thrive yet but I have heard great things about the brand in general.
      I haven't tried the lancome ones yet but I tend to not usually use my color correctors either. I have a few from various brands and I just find them not worth the effort usually but they are great for times when I want to be more flawless and have more time to do my makeup.

A little suprised by a few of your favorite foundations given all of the new releases. I have not picked up too many newer foundations and pretty much stick with the KGD moisture and suqqu cream as my top 2. My most frequently worn is the sisley phyto-teint with a light coverage! I have loved givenchy foundations in the past but have not bought one recently. Some amazing formulas. I have learned over the last couple of years how important primers really are. Great video! I prefer foundation with no SPF and no fragrance. I'm surprised you didn't mention Surratt. His Dew Drops is in my rotation. Only problem with it is that I couldn't get a color match. I bought 1.5 first which turned out too light. Ended up buying 3 also. One pump of 3 and 1/2 pump of 1.5 works mixed together. I have both Koh Gen Do formulas but colors are a problem for me since they discontinued shad 112. Their samples are out of date, so figuring out what might work is rough. 113 is much more warm than 112. I agree that the 2 formulas mixed together look the best. Finally, I use the Westman. I originally bought shade N which was too light and cool. So glad they added shade .5 which is a slightly darker more neutral shade.

    • @LexiJong
      @LexiJong  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Andrea! I have a first version of this video that includes the Surratt but I have used mine up since that time so I don't have any more on hand. The surratt foundation is great but I agree that shade matching is challenging. I hope KGD fixes their samples soon. It's been a long time now so they should just pull the old ones and create new ones reflecting the current products and shade range. Thank you so much for sharing!

It’s so beautiful even after wearing for over 8 hours!! It’s as beautiful as the Sublimage and Cle de Peau’s The Foundation. It’s nicer than the Sisley le Teint, in my opinion. Thank you for this foundation exposé ! I will certainly be referring to it. It was very difficult to distinguish, on-screen, any notable difference between all the foundations you applied. They all looked great. Currently, and thanks to your review of it, the Westman Atelier stick is my main go-to. I did try the Chantecaille cushion foundation, and I really love the finish, especially where my pores are enlarged - unfortunately, I had to return it because the Nordstrom SA sold me the wrong shade instead of admitting that my shade was OOS. I have a question for you: which of your liquid foundations is closest to the Chantecaille cushion foundation, in terms of finish?

    • @LexiJong
      @LexiJong  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Jocelyne! The Chantecaille shade range is high for a cushion but pretty poor for a general foundation imo. I had a hard time shade matching with that one because I am in between Aura and Alabaster. In terms of finish, none of them are quite like the Chantecaille because it can be so sheer or provide more coverage but I think the KGD aqua looks the closest on the skin. You can sheer out the KGD for less coverage as well - it mixes nicely with moisturizers that I have tried.

    • @LexiJong
      @LexiJong  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Maureen! I think it depends on what you are looking for in the foundation in terms of finish but I would recommend getting samples of the Koh Gen Do and Cle de Peau foundations. I think the CdP are pretty perfect. I think some of the Chanel ones would be great too depending on what you are looking for. The Sublimage is great if you have a shade match but they have a limited range for that product (I feel the same way about the pricey Sisley one but now that the price is so high, it is hard to recommend it.) In my opinion, you just really need a foundation that doesn't move once you put it on so if you have oily skin (which I know isn't as common at 60+) then the MUFE would be great.

      @@LexiJong Hi Lexi, I’m looking for a light foundation that can be applied on wrinkled and textured skin without emphasizing age. I don’t even use over my entire face - mostly just to cover any redness. At 65, I still have combo skin - an oily nose and chin and dryness around the perimeter. Don’t really want to wear powder. Also, very important that it doesn’t pill over my SPF. Thinking of trying the Koh Gen Do first. I really love your channel and never miss your product comparisons.

      They have expanded the line since I purchased mine but none of the shades are truly rosy imo. I think the best option would be 000N or 00C depending on how fair you are. I have the cushion foundation in 00C and the new matte foundation in 000N. The 000N is a better shade for me.

    Lexi. Thank you for this video. I love trying foundations and continue to look for the perfect blend. Im disappointed that Sisley increases their prices so I’ll probably try other brands. Cle de Peau is one of my favorites too. I just purchased a bottle of the Geurlain foundation. I love the bottle. Thanks again for your incredible reviews of foundations!

      Definitely! I personally like the Suqqu and Cle de Peau for special occasions but with photography you may want to veer towards something without SPF. The Koh Gen Do options are both fantastic options imo.

    Amazing video! Can i just check if you find the koh gen do shades perfect for you? I am in the UK so have to blind buy from beautylish but the swatches online look a bit too pink! The colour on my neck is almost identical to yours , i always find a foundation works on my face but my neck is much lighter and it just looks off. That is my biggest struggle and in the UK u cant send a product back once opened :(

      Thank you! I find that the Koh Gen Do shade 012 is a pretty perfect match for me. I think KGD and Cle de Peau I10 are the best matches on my skin. Blind buying is a challenge! I always double check what I think with findation (.com) to see if their database agrees with my thoughts.

    Good advice. Have you tried the ABH luminous foundation yet ? Would it be ok to mix my cle de peau matte foundation with ABH luminous foundation or would it not be a good idea to mix two different brands together. Thank you

    • @LexiJong
      @LexiJong  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t tried that one. You can definitely mix brands. Sometimes certain formulas aren’t compatible but you will know the first time you try it whether you like it or not. Usually a disagreement between formulas has to do with the water vs. oil content but there is nothing that limits you from mixing brands. I find it is the best way to get what you want.

    Brilliant video but didn't trying out all those foundations irritate your skin? It did look very red, possibly normal for you.

    • @LexiJong
      @LexiJong  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I didn't put them all on in one day. I first test all of the foundations for a while and then I wear a different one every day usually to record the application and refresh my thoughts as well. It can definitely be irritating though and there were a few where my footage was missing and I had to wash my face and reapply but in general, I try to plan these types of videos well in advance to avoid any harm to my skin.
