    O bummer, should have watched your video before today. The other video said they are slow growers so I bought a 5 gallon tree.
    It’s my first, never tasted one, but couldn’t resist all of the YT crunching on these fruits 😂 and had to get one.

      @@flackfruit do you have Tiger Tooth? If yes, which one is better crunchy texture GA866 or Tiger Tooth? Also how are they dried, if you tried them?

      Yes, I got fruit the first year in the ground, It quadrupled last year, and this year it is looking like I will get two seasons of growth. Maybe it is not a sugar cane Jujube, does it flower at all? Even my Shanxi fruited the first year in the ground.

    The soil looks as if it might be fairly poor. Sorry if you covered this elsewhere, but did you put down any fertilizer for these? I have some trees and am going to try some Chicken manure based stuff this year, hoping to speed developing and fruiting. Nice trees in a very interesting setting, I must say.

      The soil itself has no compost or mulch in it. It is just silty loam soil. I put composted horse manure on top of the soil after planting and then 4 inches of woodchips on top. Beyond that I don't fertilize, they produce a lot of fruit. Thanks for the compliment. Chicken manure is great!

    Do you try to hand pollinate? I have tons of flowers but not as much fruit as I would like. I tried using a little paintbrush, but I'm not sure if it helped.

      No, I don't pollinate the Jujube, the ants and wasps do a great job. They are so small I don't think a brush would do much. But if you are having a hard time growing fruit I would hand pollinate between two different varieties. Best of luck.

    Thank you for the video. I just bought a 2 ft sugar cane jujube from Etsy. It’s alittle tattered from shipping but over all I think it will be fine. I’m in zone 9B central Florida. Under the right conditions how much height will they grow in a season?…Also what time frame do you think it will take for it to start producing? Thank you

      Congrats!! I planted mine in the spring of 21 it fruited and grew to 6 ft its first year. That is the nice thing about Jujube, fruit produces on first year growth. It is now 12 ft tall and it produces thousands at only two years old. I have to cut it back each year so it doesn't get too big.

      @@flackfruit That is great to hear and thank you for your reply. One other thing I forgot to ask…Have you started any new trees from air-layering?…

    Did you get your tree from TYTY? What size did you buy? I have two ( sugarcane & GA866) on order and went with the 3-4’ choice. Hoping I get at least some fruit next year. I live on the gulf coast so very hot.

    • @flackfruit
      @flackfruit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I purchased these from Trees of Antiquity located in CA. The size and success of growth from TofA is much better than Tyty..... through my experience. But I am in Utah and shipping from TofA is only a day or two, whereas shipping from TyTy takes about a week. Even with that size you should get some fruit the first year you put it in the ground. I will graft a GA866 to my sugarcane next spring to try it out. Best of luck to you.
