I guess we can conclude that most gamers had cool moms. My mom bought me the Turbografx 16 for $199 back in the day and she wouldn't even spend $10 for a shirt. She didn't get me a game though so I was stuck playing Keith Courage in Alpha Zones for months!

Hey Johnny's mom! Allow me to say that you did a great job raising your son! Your son's positive attitude is great, and it really helps some of us who are having difficult times and just need something positive in their lives to turn to sometimes.

What a nice chill mom.
It’s so funny he calls her the English “mum” instead of “mom”, even though Johnny doesn’t have the accent since he mostly grew up in Canada where it’s “mom” like in the U.S. I think he does it out of respect for her culture and dialect, it’s adorable. She’s a treasure, it’s very evident he loves her.

Jamie Williamson look I’m just pointing out that there is no such thing as British accent, If your from Britain you can have either a English, Welsh , Scottish or northern Irish (Ulster) accent. I’m a fan of Gebs channel and Johnny’s.....and by the way being the son of a biomedical scientist doesn’t make them a silly person 👌

This was awesome. She clearly has good taste to remember Phantasy Star Online and the music. The music in that game was phenomenal. After seeing this it’s easy to see why you turned out the way you did, you had a great mom. Hearing about how they drove down here to the states and went through all of the effort to get you that book was really cool. It’s times like those that we remember when we’re adults. I remember when Phantasy Star came out for the SMS, I asked for it for Christmas but never thought I would get it cause it was like $90 when it came out, but my parents didn’t let me down. Thanks to your mom for doing this.

Good for you to have your wonderful mother on. Hold on to every moment you have with her, my mother passed away and I miss her more than anything. What a good sport for her being on the show. Call your mom and tell her how much you love her today. Sometimes tomorrow never comes.

This just showed up on my timeline. I remember watching this back in the day. Just unfortunate how things went, but she always looked very happy and proud of her son. Sending all the positive energy, and we thank you for letting us get to know a little bit about your mum.

My mom is almost 69 so she's right behind your mom. My mom would actually play the NES back in the day. She loved Tetris, Dr Mario, Ice Climber and Wrecking Crew. I can still see her sitting there playing those games back in the late 80s / early 90s.

So much nostalgia emanates from this video! I'm 39 and I share a lot of the same memories with my parents... playing video games while mom was watching, enjoying the music specially from Mario & Zelda franchises, trying to understand why that hobby is such a big deal for me. My parents did spent a lot of money on games and consoles on birthdays and Christmases... I do think video games helped creating special bonds and much of my best memories are gaming related. There was something special about parents from the 70/80's era... they were so patient with us kids! Kudos to your mom and all moms in general, one can never thank them enough for the dedication and love they give us!
Your mom is great for coming on the show and embracing your hobbies. I truly appreciate that because my parents unfortunately were not encouraging when it came to video games and art, its actually one of the reasons I became a nurse. I love my profession but it did make my parents proud, so I leaned towards that ,and at the time games were thought to be for kids and they saw no future in it so they were negative about my hobbies.

Man, one of the reasons I was into gaming was to escape my Mother. You’re a lucky guy to have such a warm and lovely woman for a Mother
Johnnie, you really brought back so many great memories with my mom. As much as my mom didn't get it as much in current days, she used to play Super Mario Bros. for me to see the ending when I was 5 years old in '91. The best memory I have of my mom is when my mother would fall in love with puzzle games like Tetris and Columns. She actually hogged my Genesis and played Columns until she reached level 60+ and it got to the point that I had to get my dad to get her off. She still occasionally plays games with me from time to time and brings up casual memories of my sisters and I playing games. To this day, she still watches me play.

you guys are so lucky you got your parents to buy you things when you're just a kid. Me i bought it on my own self but i was happy too, my parents never supported me on video games so whenever i got free time after school i go to a part time job and buy all the games i have from that time till today.
