  • All people disagree with one another at some point-even Christians. In the early church, a disagreement arose concerning whether the Gentile believers should be required to adhere to the Law of Moses. In this message, we learn how the early church found a biblical solution to this divisive subject.
This teaching is from our series 44 Acts - 2017 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

As usual, FANTASTIC.. I agree 90% of most of your teachings.. This one is a very important chapter for sure. The one point that I might be concerned with is the usual misinterpretation of Moses Law vs GOD'S eternal law .. the 10 commandments. They are the ones written into the fleshly tablets of our hearts and are ETERNAL. I pray a continued blessing on your ministry..

Always enjoy Skips educational commentaries. Listen often. My personal interpretation of Paul's telling of "a man" being taken up to the third heaven is not a veiled report of his own experience. If it was, then he lied in the telling. Why would he do that? I think he know if he was in the Spirit or not, right? Yet, he said twice, he "did not know." My personal belief is he was talking about John's vision of heaven. AND, it was "unlawful" to write down what was seen, cuz the Angel told him so. Thus, when he shared it with Paul, Paul heeded the warning and refused to write details in his epistle. Therefore, if some folks suffering near-death experiences, or being deep in prayer, etc, say they have seen heaven or hell, who are we to say they haven't? The Angel of God didn't tell them to keep the event secret. We need to all stay humble and not over-think the Lord's Word or His unique Callings and Interactions with each of His children. You may be a greater Apostle than Paul, if that's God's will; and if so, I'd think He'd have lots of amazing visions and miracles laid in your path. Amen? Finally, Paul could have been talking about his uncle Shlumiel. We don't know. But I don't think he spoke of himself. Paul was a laboriously litigious wordsmith, as learned from his Pharisaical days. Why elude to himself as someone else? No point. Love to all...

Paul taught the Gentiles "You must no longer live as the Gentiles do..." Ephesians 4:17 God originally commanded circumcision and kosher laws for all of Israel. The Pharisees were legitimately confused and wanted their Gentiles brothers to enter into God's kingdom on the terms God established in his law. They were learning that the spiritual revival of the kingdom was underway and men were being eternally changed through justification and by God's Spirit and circumcision wasn't needed for them to receive those changes. Even the Apostles and elders realized that the Pharisees had raised a good question and they met to "consider these things" and they debated a long time about it. It was a period of learning for them all. Lighten up on the Pharisees already. The elders and apostles did impose some basic Noahide/Mosaic regulations on the Gentiles (Don't eat blood, don't eat food offered to idols, don't strangle animals you eat, and abstain from sexual immorality) What did the Pharisees think the Gentiles were becoming? Read Ephesians 2:11-3:6 God revealed a mystery to Paul which he reveals in these passages and elsewhere. Spoiler - it's about Israel NOT "the church".

Acts 15 starts with the reason for the letter.
Act 15:1 And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.
So immediately we see that they were teaching a false gospel, by relating circumcision to salvation. Salvation is only through the righteousness of Jesus Christ, but that doesn’t void God’s perfect and eternal laws. This teaching is about how the law of God means nothing until your heart is properly circumcised, thus salvation doesn’t come by the law, but by the One who perfectly fulfilled it, to the point of death on the cross!
God puts no difference between Jew and Gentile and never has. Anyone can look back at Israel (the Nation) and see even the twelve tribes were not of a pure race. God has always had one way to the Father of us all. Genetics has nothing to do with the Jews or the Gentiles; it has always been a matter of the heart. The Law of God is for HIS people who love HIM!
    True Israel explained:
Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed (True Israel), and heirs according to the promise.
Act 15:9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
In the past they looked to the cross, and for us we are looking back at the cross.
Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation hath appeared to all men, Tit 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Tit 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope (His return), and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; Tit 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Tit 2:15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
Verse 5 is referring to verse 1. Circumcision = Salvation (Wrong)
Act 15:5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
Does anyone think that you can “go into the entire world, and preach the gospel…” by trying to first start by saying salvation comes through circumcision? Who would listen to you? You must always start with the milk of the Word before you can try to have them eat meat, also that our salvation is through Jesus by our faith that accesses His grace (Rom. 5:2, Eph. 2:8). Nowhere in Acts or elsewhere does it say God’s eternal and perfect law has been abolished or that it is just for the Jewish race, in fact Jesus and Paul, along with others teach the opposite.
The doctrines of men have led many into a false understanding, and because most don’t thoroughly study His Word ever to discover Truth. Many Bible translations came from Hort and Wescott, who greatly perverted the Hebrew and Greek definitions, and they were “anti-Christ”! Today’s teachings in the church are fairly new, and began around 150 years ago.
One thing you can always trust is the Words of Jesus to give you the Truth by what He said!
Understand that they are “writing unto them” in this next verse (20). That they first leave their religious practices (…pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.) Then they will learn the law of God (Torah) on every Sabbath Day, where the law of God is taught in the synagogues. Besides, so then is murder, adultery, drunkenness… now OK?
Act 15:20 But that we write unto them, that (The starting point) they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. Act 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath day.
    Jesus teaching the same thing!
Mat 23:1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, Mat 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat (the reading of the Torah/Law every Sabbath in the synagogues): Mat 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

    (3) Physical circumcision is the one burden referred to in here because even if it was a requirement (though it never was in the entirety of the Scripture ), it would be burdensome not just to the entering Gentile but to his family or friends caring for him for 2 weeks. The physical circumcision was given to Abraham as a sign of His covenant with him (Genesis 17) and the seed after him for generations to come and in Exodus 12 as a requirement for partaking in the Passover feast to someone who embraces the faith. Is physical circumcision a requirement for salvation? No. Abraham became a believer before God required it from him thus the Jewish believers of the circumcision camp felt in Acts 15 was a requirement for salvation. It was their misapplication of the Law like Christians commonly misapply the Scriptures of today. Circumcision of the heart that deals with getting rid of sinful flesh nature or deeds through the Spirit is the same application. Heart circumcision is not a requirement of salvation either but by faith in Jesus alone through His Grace. Physical and heart circumcision will come next as the Spirit that now leads the believer into all righteousness will direct, teach and guide him. The Law of Moses is not the heavy burden or yoke referred here in either text or context otherwise why giving the five Laws of Moses (counting the Sabbath) to an entering Gentile and hearing more of Moses’ Laws when read in synagogues every Sabbath. Once again sexual immorality and eating foods sacrificed to idols are not meant to offend the Jews but are sins that will certainly lose the believers’ adoption (Galatians 5:19-21, Revelation chapters 2 and 3, and elsewhere).

    (5) The speaker assumes that the Torah observance is specific to the Jews only as he claims in his interpretation by saying (paraphrasing) ‘we want you to become Jewish to be saved’ in reference to Acts 15:1 That is further from the truth. The Laws of Moses or Torah has NEVER been a property of the Jewish people. The Laws of God/Torah is His property and those who embrace Him must embrace His Torah/Statutes/Mtzvah/Ordinances so that they will become His own people (Exodus 19:5, Leviticus 26:3-12, Ezekiel 11:19-20, Exekiel 36:27-28). Exodus 12 talks about the gathering of the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel as they left Egypt verses 3-6 and described this assembly as Sons of Israel and the mix multitudes in verses 37-38. God called them ALL His Armies (verses 41,51) and together as ALL Sons of Israel throughout their generations (verse 42, 50) TWICE after verse 38 in refrence to mix multitudes. So this gathering was the first ever mega-mega “jew and gentile” coming together under one Torah, one Law, one God , one Nation and a Holy people. Then this is going to be repeated in Revelation 7.
Thus for the speaker to say that the circumcision camp of Jewish believers’ intention was for the entering Gentile believer to become jewish is far from the truth. This speaker has spoken mostly untruths and false understanding and false beliefs. Mostly his opinions and comments are MISREPRESENTING the Scriptures.
Thus Acts 15:20 is only the beginning of observing the Torah of Moses as they will learn more when they gather on SABBATHS every week and hear Moses read in every synagogue not for fellowshipping with the Jews but learning Moses’ Laws as they point to Jesus who was born under the Law. Sexual immorality and eating foods sacrificed to idols have never been for “not offending the jews” as the speaker opined. Contrast that to what Jesus said in Revelation chapters 2 and 3 and what Paul said in

I find it interesting that Abraham( Gen. 17) was circumcised and God told him to be blameless & walk before him..yet no law was given to him..how one was to " walk before God & be blameless(perfect)" yet no terms or instruction( Law) was given on how to accomplish this .no way on how to obey- no guidelines given is recorded. Yet, in vs.10 God seems to indicate Abraham & his descendants end of the covenant is circumcision " this is my covenant"- no code of conduct prescribed..which does make sense considering circumcision usually carried terms on how someone was to be separate and instructions on how a person becomes separated or distinct....More perplexing Gen.26:5 says " Abraham obeyed Me & kept my Charge, my Commandments, my Statutes & my Laws" where where these given & when??? It seems confusing given that the Abrahamic covenant is the model for the NT covenant..and the whole " by faith Abraham" discourse in Hebrews 11- " the hall of Faith"

Remember, the law of Moses came after 400 years of Egyptian captivity and pagan influence. As evidenced when Moses was absent for 40 days receiving the 10 Commandments and many of the Hebrews rebelled and turned to old pagan Egyptian idol worship. The Lord destroyed them and the remnant that was left was instructed in the new law to remove all memory for future generations of the pagan ways. Abraham had no such engrained influenced to unlearn. He spoke directly to God and was corrected directly.

There are so many problems with his teachings. It’s fine to disagree on Scriptures but to misrepresent it as it relates to Acts 15 is absolutely unacceptable:(1) The debate was about adding physical curcumcision as a requirement for salvation in addition to the faith by Grace in Jesus. The Jewish believers in the circumcision camp thought so and implied that it is also true for the rest of the Law of Moses. But James decided in behalf of the Jews and Gentiles that salvation is by faith through Grace ALONE that a Jew or a Gentile is saved (not that he does not know that as can be studied in his writings in the book of James). But then in regard to the Law of Moses, four things were required as verse 21 reveals the reason: “for Moses from ancient generations has had in every city those who proclaim him, since he is read in all synagogues every Sabbath.” Meaning, the new Gentile believers were required to observe some of the Laws of Moses for they will hear the rest of it when they gather on SABBATHS in the synagogues. These Gentile believers were also observing the Sabbath as the Law requires and will know what other things were required. It was not meant “to not offend the Jewish believers” NOR was it for the sake of fellowshipping but was to begin the Gentile believers the ways of righteousness. James who made the decision said in James 1:25 , “the one who looks intently on the Law, the PERFECT Law that gives freedom and continues in it , not becoming a hearer who forgets but a doer who acts-he shall be blessed in what he does”. Furthermore, Paul in Galatians 5:19-21 warned the Galatian believers TWICE that those who practice sexual immorality will not inherit the kingdom of God. Jesus in Revelation chapters 2 and 3 says that those who practice sexual immorality and eat foods sacrificed to idols will be in danger of facing His wrath or for those who do not repent that their names will be removed from the Book of Life. (2) The idea that Acts 15 was about an arguement in regard to “becoming jewish to be saved” is full of textual and contextual errors. So now that the Gentile believers were required to observe five of Moses Laws (not for salvation), have they become part Jewish? The observance of the Law does not make a Jew more Jewish or a Gentile becoming Jewish but simply embracing the Law that Jesus gave to Moses. Romans 13:8-10 states that “the one who loves has fulfilled the Law...love is the fullness of the Law”. Or Jesus says that the 2 greatest commandments of loving God and neighbor “on these 2 hang the Laws and Prophets (Matthew 22:40)”. Romans 7:12 says, “ for the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.” So what is the purpose of Law of Moses. Galatians 3:24-25 reveals its role or purpose when it says “therefore the Law became our guardian to lead us to Messiah, so that we be made right based on trusting. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under the guardian.” Meaning the Law being holy and our guardian points us to Jesus that by trusting in Him, we shall be made right. Thus when Acts 15 required the Gentile believers in Jesus to observe the five laws (including the Sabbath-not for salvation) the Laws of God/Torah will be properly applied on the new self (the new wineskin) as the believer will gradually learn what it is to love God and what is to love his neighbor. Thus when he looks intently into the PERFECT Law and does what it says , he will have done well as he will love God and neighbor thus the phrase “love is the fullness of the Law Romans 13:10 which gives the full meaning of the reason for observing the Law/Torah.
Romans 8:1-4 which now describes in full and in depth the meaning of the passage: “therefore there is now no condemnation for those in Jesus....the law of Spirit of Life in Jesus has set you free from sin and death. For the Law /Torah (holy and perfect) was weakened on account of flesh. (But by) Sending His Son in the likeness of sinful flesh (under the law) as sin offering, He condemned sin- so that the REQUIREMENT of the Law/Torah might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit”. Jesus is the requirement of the Law of Moses. Acts 15 thus is saying that Gentile believers who embraced Jesus as their God and Savior were now required/obligated to observe five Moses Laws (counting the Sabbath) as a beginning for the rest of the Laws

ACTS 15:1-41 , " 1.And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.
( Circumcision means to remove something . In the covenant with Abraham , it is the removing of the flesh of foreskin ; which is the completion of the creation started by God , on the first day that man was formed . Man was created in the image and likeness of God , but every other creature was made in their kind . Man was made from the dust of the ground , GOD IS NOT . God is teaching man how to become the kind . On the eighth day of man's creation , the flesh and blood of the earth will be removed , and man will become the kind .
1 Corinthians 15:49-53 , " 49.And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.50Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.51Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality ".
This covenant was not with Abraham and his seed only , but the stranger bought with his money , not of his seed .
GENESIS 17:9-14 , " 9.And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.10This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.11And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.12And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.13He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.14And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
IN GENESIS 17:13-14 , " 13He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.14And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.
THIS IS ALSO FOR THE STRANGER/GENTILES WHO HAST BECOME THE SEED OF ABRAHAM BY A PRICE .
ACTS 20:28 , " 28.Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
GALATIANS 3:26-29 , " 26.For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.29And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
THE CIRCUMCISION OF FLESH OF FORESKIN IS AN EVERLASTING COVENANT WITH ABRAHAM , HIS SEED AND THE STRANGER PURCHASED WITH THE BLOOD OF JESUS .
Biblical circumcision means to make clean .
The circumcisions for the cleaning of sin went through the two mediators of the covenant between the Father & the children of Israel .
The circumcision of the heart/spirit is a sin sacrifice of atonement through faith , through the mediator Jesus Christ ; which is repenting of your sins , then believing by obedience ; which is keeping your mediator Jesus Christ commandments ; which he received from the Father .
People forget that there was also a sin sacrifice of atonement through works , for the flesh/body ; which the God of Israel gave through the mediator Moses ; which was called the law of animal sacrifice and oblations , or circumcision of flesh/body for sin . Moses , like Jesus was the mediator/husband/protector/covering , for the one's under the covenant between the Father .
The key word the brethren used is SAVED ! To be saved means to be redeemed , or forgiven or justified ( made clear ) of all your past sins ; which requires a sin sacrifice of atonement ; which comes under a priesthood .
The sin sacrifice of atonement of works ( animal sacrifice & oblations ) came under the mediator Moses , through the priesthood of Leviticus ; which was not of faith ; which clean your flesh/body , not your heart/spirit . The Father requires a clean heart/spirit to be accept by him .
Psalm 51:16-17 , " 16.For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.17.The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise " .
The circumcision as of the manner of Moses is not the circumcision of flesh of foreskin , the everlasting covenant through Abraham ; because Moses did not circumcise his own child of foreskin ; also no males were circumcised of the foreskin after leaving Egypt , until the LORD told Joshua to have them circumcised of foreskin before they entered the land of Israel ( Joshua 5 ) . The circumcision as of the manner of Moses was the circumcision of flesh/body for sin ; to clean the flesh/body , not the heart/spirit . )
2.When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.
( Paul and Barnabas did not agree with the men from Judaea . The mother church was located in Jerusalem . The church is the covenant between the Father and the children of Israel , or the Woman ; with believing Gentiles grafted into this covenant through faith . The seven Churches in Asia were the remnant of the woman Israel , or the church , before Judaea was destroyed in 70 A.D. . )
3.And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.
( Romans 2:11-15 , " 11.For there is no respect of persons with God.12For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;13(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.14For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:15Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another " .)
4.And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
( Acts 14:25-28 , " 25.And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia:26And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.27And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.28And there they abode long time with the disciples " . )
5.But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
( The sect of the Pharisees which believed that the sin sacrifice of atonement of the heart/spirit through faith , goes through the mediator Jesus Christ ; not the blood of the animals & oblations )
( The children of Israel continued in the sacrifices & oblations for the cleaning of the body ; when it becomes unclean due to touching a dead body , woman on her monthly , etc ... , but not for sin ; this came through the mediator Moses ; but the Gentiles were never under these sacrifices & oblations . )
6.And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
( There was much discussion pertaining to what was required of the Gentiles )

    (4) The speaker brought up 613 laws in the Tanakh and dismisses them as burdensome and are a yoke then he carelessly equates them to Talmud. Nothing is truthful about it. Talmud is extra scriptural derived from oral Rabbinic traditions that they have added side by side with the Scriptures whom Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for because of their clever way of setting aside the Scriptures over their man made traditions similar to OSAS, OSFS, Calvinism, Catholicism (all man made doctrines). The 613 Laws that the speaker so despised and put at a negative light includes “love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength (Deuteronomy 6:4)”, “man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God (Deuteronomy 8:3)”, “fear the LORD your God, walk in His ways, love Him, serve the LORD your God with all your heart and soul (Deuteronomy10:12), “circumcise the foreskin of your heart (Deuteronomy 10:16)”, “sanctify yourself, be holy for I am holy (Leviticus 11:44), “rise up in the presence of gray-haired and honor the presence of the elderly (Leviticus20:32)”, “you are not to curse the deaf or put a stumbling block before the blind (Leviticus 19:14)”, “you are not to hate your brother (Leviticus 19:17)”, “you are to keep My Sabbath (Leviticus 19:30)”, “they are to make for themselves tzit tzit on the corners of their garments (Numbers 16:38)”, “you must not add to the word that I am commanding you or take away from it (Deuteronomy 4:2)”, The Ten Commandments (Deuteronomy 5), “at the end of seven years you are to cancel debts (Deuteronomy 15)”, you are not to twist justice, not to lay with animals as a man with a woman, not to take your mother’s sister as your wife, not for a man to lay with a man or a woman with a woman, a man engaged to a woman but has not married her must go back to his house and marry her or he will die in battle, the judges must investigate thoroughly, when you build a house , you are to make a guardrail for your roof so that you do not bring the guilt of blood on your house if anyone falls, you are not to charge excessive interest to your brother, when a man takes a new wife, he must not go out with the army but must be at home for one year and make his wife happy etc. - Deuteronomy.
In Deuteronomy 30:10-11 Moses wrote “when you listen to the voice of ADONAI your God, to keep His commandments, and His statutes that are written in this scroll of the Law/Torah, when you turn to ADONAI your God with all your heart and with all your soul. “For this is the commanments that I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you nor is it far”.
God Himself said that His Torah/Law/Commandments are not too difficult or the speaker on this video content who wants you ro believe that it is burdensome. Who do you follow? Do you follow God who said His commandments are not too difficult or the author who says that God’s Laws/Torah is burdensome.
Some of the Torah/Laws of Moses apply specific to men or women, land , Temple, and proper way of doing scarifices and offerings, clothing and food laws. His Feast Days are gathering of believers eating, drinking, enjoying fellowshipping and not doing any regular work on any Sabbath. God has multiple no work days than any country in the world and all He likes for His people to do is to gather and celebrate with food, drinks and learn about His ways. How in the world can that be burdensome? Even better now that blood sacrifices for sin is no longer needed as He is now the High Priest forever.
The Pharisees added to God’s Torah/Law in Jesus’ times ,but the christians of today removed God’s Laws/Torah of Moses and call them burdensome and say we no longer need to do them until they read Acts 15.

I did not finish this video. Due to the misunderstanding that your teacher is pushing. However he is correct we are only saved through jesus. He is incorrect jesus says anyone who teaches my commandments will be great in the kingdom of heaven. Anyone who dose not will be least in heaven. Jesus also says not 1 one of the smallest things of the law will pass away until the hevans and earth pass away. Gods word will always line up . If it dose not we must test the teacher . The burden he refers to is the oral Torah. They are not referring to the written Torah . It evan speaks of this in dueturatamy this is not a heavy burden or hard. please never forget to read all of the bible and test everything with the word of God only not man.

Hi! I’m a fairly new Christian, just a few years old! What is the element of this particular explanation in Acts that isn’t correct? And would you refer me to either a book or another explanation of Acts? Appreciate your opinion. Thanks!

What’s the difference between the oral Torah and written Torah besides the form? Is the written Torah more complete?

respectfully this is wrong, and the exact point of Acts 15. We don't need to be circumcised, even though it's in the written Torah!

    (6) The speaker says that none was able to follow the Laws of God. Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Caleb and those that were born from the wilderness for 40 years did obey the Laws of God completely. During Joshua’s time, God gave them rest because they obeyed God completely and were allowed to enter the promised land in Canaan. In fact, God gave them rest on all sides as they have obeyed God completely. That was the promised blessings of obedience to His Laws. They also have become so zealous of God’s Laws that toward the end of the story of their taking over Canaan, when the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half-tribe of Manasseh built an altar by the Jordan not prescribed in the Torah, the rest of the tribes of Israel assembled to go up against them in war (Joshua 22:12). Then in Joshua 25:31, it says, “Israel worshipped ADONAI all the days of Joshua and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua and had known ALL the work of ADONAI that He had for Israel.”
Thus for the speaker to suggest that none was able to obey God’s Laws is completely wrong.

For you to suggest they could obey the law completely, robs the glory of Christ that is only due Him.
      Hebrews 10:1-4 NKJV
For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. [2] For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. [3] But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. [4] For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.
Each of those men had to offer sacrifices for their sins.
If they had kept the law completely, none of them would have remained in their graves and Moses specifically would have been allowed to enter the promised land.
      Romans 3:19-20 NKJV
Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. [20] Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
