Hythlodaeus being the first choice for the title of Emet Selch is actually covered in one of the Shadowbringers short stories, along with other fun stories like how Azem summoned Ifrit to stop a volcano from erupting and destroying a village that had some really good grape vineyards.
Well, that was Azem's excuse. Emet-Selch saw right through it, though. The rest of the Convocation had decided to leave the islanders to their fate, something Azem, who had actually walked among and learned about them, refused.
Considering all the Greek parallels of the Ancients, I assume the peculiar "glow" of the Ancients' eyes is a reference to the Greek ancient theory of vision: the belief that your eyes emitted light, which would then reflect off objects allowing you to perceive them. (Visual emission/extramission theory) Also, the "68.3% Dynamis" is a reference to how current day science calculates that Dark Energy makes up roughly 68.3% of the known universe.
Hythlo and Emet are the best. I was so afraid when they mentioned time travel.. But my god did they pull it off good! I can't wait for your further journey through Elpis
Thank you for letting us come along on your journey. Getting to re-live these moments through you makes me feel like I am witnessing them fresh all over again.
There is nothing worse than going into Emote only chat only for a mod to start typing shit out, like whats the point. "HEAR FEEL THINK" DID YOU SEE?!?!?! RIGHT ON THE NOSE
2:23 I've heard of losing yourself in someone else's eyes. Now I've literally seen it. 4:10 "I would die for birb girl." =-( 6:33 Aww. I was hoping to see your reaction of watching the great, wize, and power ancients fall out of a tree. 7:01 "Why are you smiling?" He doesn't like you, doesn't trust you, and would look forward to booting you out by force. That's why he's smiling. 9:10 All he had to do was wait one more scene and all his fretting and worrying would've been explained. He needs to stand up and laugh for a bit. =-) 11:18 And HERE is the problem. 11:49 Keep clicking, Terra, before you give yourself anxiety again. 22:42 You have to do it. Do it. Nip at Emet! 24:21 We understand totally, Terra. Our hearts beat for Hythlo too. 26:55 When my friends have achieved their dreams and lived their lives to their fullest, so to shall I. 27:24 Oh god I'd never considered that. Hythlo volunteers to be part of the sacrifice, maybe because he thinks being talented in sight and nothing else means he's expendable. Emet doubles down on the plan his friend sacrificed himself to advance, while Azem is absolutely horrified and refuses to have anything more to do with it. /sob 28:39 Precisely. That little sit down with Hythlo was something special.
Ascians have weird eyes, but not all of them. If you look at those NPCs in Elpis, many of them have normal eyes(Emet and Hythlodaeus were forced to remove masks, but most of Ascians in Elpis are wearing them, which is nonsense.). But maybe its matter of "talent" for creation magic, idk.
Hythlodaeus - the prettiest character in FFXIV, hands down. I absolutely adore that character. **Really** looking forward to your stream on the 22nd too, my birthday is the 26th! April babies for the win! *Edit: so loving watching you play through this!
Blue bird friend is best friend! 🐦 Other than Emet and Hythlodaeus, of course. Noticed someone was asking if Ancients ever showered... They're based on the ancient Greeks, obviously, who had a lot more melanin than what you would think of in a modern-era Caucasian person, hence their darker NATURAL skin tone. It's not dirt lol...
The Limit Break argument is insanely fierce, and no, Dynamis is not Limit Break. There's one later scene people keep pointing to, and a previous one rewritten, and neither of them hold up when looked at from other languages. The Encyclopedias very specifically call out LBs as Aether, not Dynamis. There is something to the idea that Dynamis might *trigger* a LB, but LB themselves are a channeling of aether in every description.
It's such a weird coincidence how every description written before the writers of FF14 came up with the concept of dynamis doesn't mention dynamis :P Teasing aside, though, the Encyclopedias are written from an in-universe perspective, so that doesn't tell us what's true about limit breaks. It only tells us _what the people of Eorzea think is true_ about limit breaks (or any other topic). Though even if they weren't written from an in-universe perspective, as cool as they are, they're still just paratext, they're outside the game. Either interpretation is compatible with the facts as given in the fictional universe portrayed in the English translation of FF14, so a reader is free to select the interpretation they prefer. There is no true answer for any unanswered world building question in any work of fiction, after all, since there's no way to test one answer against another. There's only "is it compatible with everything that was explicitly said in the work of fiction".
It is worth remembering that the Encyclopaediae Eorzea are written as in-universe books, and thus cannot be considered omniscient truth. Considering how akasa/dynamis is stated by Nidhana to currently be considered a Hannish fringe theory, it serves as a convenient explanation as to why it hasn't been covered in any previous publications. Whereas whether or not LB is dynamis, it clearly plays a part yet we likely don't have the full answer yet. In general the revelations concerning dynamis throw a lot of previous aetherological theory into question, and it is likely that many phenomena previously attributed to aether are in fact at least partially dynamis-based. The best examples of this are pre-EW storylines such as Bard and Dancer, and perhaps to a lesser extent jobs like Dark Knight, which deal heavily in themes of emotions manifesting as tangible phenomena, showing that clearly some forethought (or at least masterful repurposing of older narratives) has gone to the introduction of dynamis as a plot point.
68.3% is no random number...its the percentage of the universe we (irl) call dark energy
That is… kinda terrifying ty

The fact that Terra and Metion are both empaths and also, coincidentally, have the same hair colour is just too perfect.

Stumbled into your videos last night and what a lovely treat to find this morning just as it went up.

I'm sure she'd love to hear that. :)

Anyone know where I can get the full stream? Twich doesn't have it - just the 6.0 finale and up, and the VOD channel only has up to STB. :c
I think rather than embody the concept of Hermes himself, Meteion I think more resembles the concept of the “bluebird of happiness.”
She's magical Twitter
1 second and i see something cursed this means it will be a good video lol
i played this when it first came out, and i didn't catch it then that at 1:22 Bewinged Girl says she want's to hear, feel, think

*Edit: so loving watching you play through this!
It’s said that his initial design was too pretty, they had to tone it down. People would be too distracted.
I beg to differ. Venat/Hydaelyn is the absolute hottest in the entire game.
For dudes... yeah, Hythlo takes it.
I like this Meteion character. Hopefully nothing happens to her

Mods need to ban Terra he's telling spoilers
