Thanks for this I really enjoyed that, coming from the uk its hard to get a grasp of the sheer scale of life over there! I normally post some sarky/humerus rubbish but i am totally humbled by the engineering brilliance
Your photography is freakin' awesome , loved the boats, the sun, the salutes, only problem was that I didn't know who I was looking at most of the time. Thank you for filming I enjoyed every minute! Thank you also for encluding my old girl and favorite great Lakes boat Alpena, it means a a ton to me to keep them out there and moving freight
Wonderful compilation of footage! It's nice to see some of the boats that don't make it to the Duluth-Superior area, where I do most of my filming. I need to travel to some of these other locales next summer.
Mr. Sam, Thanks for sharing these vids. Especially the older boats we don't see anymore. Iffin' ya' want go on YT and look up my playlist "MORE Lakeboat Lore".
OMG ! Would it be great to have this video in HD DVD Blu Ray 4K ! I'm a "SUBWOOFER" Oficiando and need lots of subwoofer material in my life. Those boat horns are near perfect for me. I had a Home Theater set up in the dedicated lower level of my home. Unfortunately I was attacked by Meniere's disease and have lost all hearing in one ear and 80% in my other. But so what? Your video has challenged me to get out my best most expensive audio and video recording equipment and get out to all the best sound locations and get more Hi Def 4K recordings. Thanks for the push Sam.
I think the Great Lake Shipping is undervalued, and of course, misunderstood for their significance, their contribution, and the the risks they take. The Edmund Fitzgerald is only one of a long line of prequels to the dangers of Great Lake Shipping. The story isn't over, their is always another chapter to be written sooner or later.
Very good video, but camera clicking unwelcome. I prefer to hear more of the ships engines, some of them are great and seem to travel long distances over the water. Some of the clips could be longer…
Hi Sam, thank you for the great videos! My family loves watching them when boating season is over. We like to anchor near the shipping channel and eat lunch to watch passing freighters. How do you go about gaining access to your filming locations? I know for a fact that some of the footage was from port of Monroe.
Hankinson could be a Swedish name, or a Finnish Swede name. I used to watch these 'boats' as they called them in the upper peninsula of Michigan. I watched them in the Marquette area.
The sweetest music 🎼 of all, birds singing and waves lapping and engines churning, thank you for not putting in anything that didn’t belong !!
Love to hear the engines rumble the waves splashing and the wind , thanks for a great film!!!

Nicely done, Sam. Thank you for investing some much time and energy into this. It's nice seeing some boats we never see on the St Marys.
Dan Vaught thanks dan!

Let the Fitzgerald and her crew rest already. There WAS NO REASON to bring up the Fitzgerald.
Wonderful atmospheric shots!
Amazing how these ships can stay afloat!!
Great video
Awesome!
Excellent!
I used to watch the boats at the Marquette docks.
The Missisagi in this Video was launched in 1943. A grand old girl. Still working.

Wow! The bridge clearance at 4:30 was rather tight! Where is this?
Manistee
Anybody remember Captain Hooked of Newfoundland on the Lakers?
so not at Marquette, MI where the smaller boats go for taconite.
Nothing from Marquette in this video, maybe next year!
