It's the royalties people forget the $25k/month salary. That's peanuts.
The royalties are in billions of dollars over 40 yrs, that's where Macky Sall and his brother will make their killing off the back of the poor Senegalese peasant. These offshore companies that are minority shareholders in Timis Corporation are wholly owned by Macky Sall, his brother and their cronies.
In a country where horse-driven carriages are used as ambulances to carry pregnant women for miles to see a midwife to help with delivering their babies. In a country where power and potable water shortages are as common place as mosquitoes in the summer. Etc etc.

MARIO de ANGOLA stupid to say what you said, do you really think he even cares about being embarrassed, he is a thief and a traitor so embarrassment is the last thing he cares about, it’s the money stupid he cares about the most, wake up Senegal as a country is being robbed and you speak of embarrassment, this should cause the people to go to the street, he embezzled the equivalent of Senegal gross domestic product per year, it’s almost the annual budget of Senegal. So what do you think embarrassment still the right word to use and who cares how he feels as oppose to what he did, if this is how Senegalese people think then they deserve that kind of leader.

karim Bouarfa I meant, embarrassed just because of the BBC report. Even the leader of opposition party it has been quite surprised in this report with the articles showing proofs about President Sall’s brother involved in this traffic influence business...However, the guy didn’t assume, but all of us we know that’s likely true.

If it were you or I in their position we'd probably be corrupt too. All over the continent we do not see corruption as a cancer but rather as the "smart thing to do". Unfortunately, we complain about corruption but we have a pro-corruption mentality.

As a Sierra Leonean, I know how foreign investors in the mining sector have recked our country. The painful part of the continuous exploitation business is that our people in authority give these fraudsters a working platform. They do all the groundwork for them reaping the people from what belongs to them.
We the young generation look forward to governments in Africa that will put the people at heart when giving licenses to foreign companies for our natural minerals.

This narrative of corruption/bribes being perpertrated individually, i.e only a single person is involved, is misleading. There has to be landscape, a network, that facilitates it: teamwork and coordination is key for the whole racket to work.
