@@thunderin4 Thank you, my dear. It's okay. It wasn't your fault. Actually, there is more to our shared history than most people think 🙂 For example, thanks to the Holy Roman Emperor Otto III Poland was recognized as a real kingdom in the first place. Later, between 12th and 14th century, thousands upon thousands of German settlers from the overpopulated areas had come to Poland after the invitation from local rulers and landowners. The newcomers helped with building and modernizing Polish towns and villages. Despite the initial conflicts between the locals and immigrants the assimilation took place. Many friendships and marriages had happened, many children were born. And so after years of integration, the next generations of those German settlers became Poles. That's partially why we have so many words of German's origins in Polish. For example: das Dach → dach der Schwager → szwagier There is much more, but to sum it up - we are basically your family ^^ So welcome, dear German cousins. It's feels good to love you again 😊

Everybody thinks German people are cold, but if you go there they are actually very friendly! We were visiting from Canada, and many people working the shops and hotels were so encouraging whenever I tried speaking German to them, despite being fairly new to the language. Also you could ask basically anyone there for assistance and they’re likely to at least try to help.
@Walter White I don’t think Americans are terribly fake - no more than us Canadians at least. I think over here we just tend to smile and say hello on the streets or ask how you are doing as a pleasantry rather than an actual question or comment that you respond to. Different meaning behind the actions is all
I think there is a big difference to not agree with a government and their politics and to not like a whole country. I dont dislike any country, they all have their pros and cons. But i disagree with a lot of the countries politics! That might be the reason why most of the Germans answered with "No"
I hate people and western governments who think they have the right to stick their noses in foreign politics. They don't like meddling in their politics, but they like to stick their noses into the politics, electoral system etc. of other countries. Who the fck you think you are?
Most of us are. And some aren't. But you are not the only one who is surprised by that. Some tourists I got to interact with (people *love* asking me the way for some reason) said the same thing.

As a British woman I love the Germans for how they act! I find them to be much more approachable in a way that Scandinavian people are too, as I personally find loud people a bit overwhelming. @雅典第一公民伯里克利 So a sample size of two people you meet and didn't like and you decide to paint them all with the same brush... Not smart. They were former state socialist btw, they never called themselves communist. Aso their system has nothing to do with how they feel about foreigners. It's because many feel like second class citizens in their own country having had everything they worked for simply thrown into the trash as worthless, mass unemployment and breakdown of society after die Wende and the Treuhand who closed down huge numbers of factories- even the ones who were competitive with the West and allowed West German companies to go there and buy up East German ones for pennies only to close them down so they could destroy any competition while asset stripping them. I know exactly what went on back then, have spoken to many people there including my partner and have read many books about it. It's because they still 30 years later fall behind the rest of Germany in asset ownership and employment opportunities with unemployment still higher in the East. Go there and see the abandoned homes in the countryside and the towns full of only old people because all the young have left. That was all the product of the takeover of the East. "Reunification" is a joke because it was never a unity of equals, simply West Germany imposing it's rule, dominance and control on the East throwing out the good with the bad. And the far right saw an opportunity to exploit people's unhappiness, fears, disillusionment, resentment and anger by scapegoating foreigners as being the cause of their problems. THAT is why racism took hold more in the East than the rest of Germany, so get your facts straight.

I'm so sorry about the past . 🙏
Our ancestors were idiots.
Greetings from germany
@@thunderin4 Thank you, my dear. It's okay. It wasn't your fault.
Actually, there is more to our shared history than most people think 🙂
For example, thanks to the Holy Roman Emperor Otto III Poland was recognized as a real kingdom in the first place.
For example:
das Dach → dach
der Schwager → szwagier
There is much more, but to sum it up - we are basically your family ^^
So welcome, dear German cousins. It's feels good to love you again 😊

Anche a me la Germania sta abbastanza simpatica
That might be the reason why most of the Germans answered with "No"
Yeah for example North Korea, the US, most middle eastern countries etc

As a Russian I’m delighted to always be in Berlin, usually just playing games. Or just walking. God bless Germany.
