Listening to Jinjer has spoiled me. There is so much music which doesn't just grab me anymore. But their whole discography just keeps fresh no matter how many times I've listened to it. Subbed and observing your Jinjer journey.
Jinjer is one of those bands where it really doesn't matter where you dip your toe into their pool of work - you're gonna find something awesome. Their catalog is something well-worth exploring and enjoying for sure.
That's my favorite thing Roman does aside from the dissonant chords in places for tension is the little runs between chugs. It's like voice - guitar - voice - guitar. I would think it's just that they are a three piece instrumental with vocals and know how to fill voids to sound fuller but they even did those things when they had two guitars.
Rewatched the reaction after spending some time in the comment section. You are absolutely right Eric, music is subjective and no fan can make a song palatable to an individual- that's up to the band and the track they create. I happen to enjoy prog and having grown up on Long Island, have enjoyed Dream Theater since early on and really like what Tim, Scott and the Clay's are doing in Polyphia. I also saw AC/DC 8 times and really love The Warning- the simpler compositions that are executed flawlessly. My wife and I have many crossover songs or artists we agree upon, but others that don't strike one of us as it does to me or to her. That said, I'm glad you are into Jinjer's sound thus far and look forward to see your take on more of their unique approach of blending genres.
Jinjer does not do things to show off. It's all about the music. You're in my favorite two rabbit holes with The Warning and Jinjer. Both bands, even though they are miles apart in sound, have that unique sound due to their love of what they do. It's not a showcase of how awesome they can play. It's just playing what they love. And if Vlad could get that snare any tighter he may cause a black hole to open. After Tati said there wasn't going to be a new album this year I was heartbroken. Then she turns around and finds her muse...and this is the first drop? I can't wait to see them in October!
Roman is to Jinjer as Alex Lifeson was to Rush. Great, but you sometimes forget, because of how amazing the rest of the band is. Roman shines on this one IMO.
As a huge Rush fan, I could not agree with you more. I've made the same comparison. I say Roman is kinda like Alex on crack lol. Or Alex mixed with Allan Holdsworth. Jinjer is my favorite band since Rush retired. I feel like Vlad is to Jinjer much as Neil was to Rush. And Eugene is my modern day Geddy. He keeps me pushing to improve as a bassist. But Rush never had a Tatiana. As much as I love Geddy--and I looooove Geddy--Tatiana grabs me in a whole different way than he ever did.
The three musicians all have their parts and they are technical, the hard part is coming together as a band and making it a complex composition that is also likeable. Jinjer pulls this last part together seamlessly - then you get Tatiana adding her unique vocals and poetic lyrics. It sounds as one and is a well crafted work of art. Technical and pleasing with great cohesion. Jinjer doing Jinjer things 🤘
I couldn’t love this any more even if I tried. And I couldn’t agree with you more about what you said about some other bands that do certain things because they can. Metal, djent, operatic, growls - those styles on their own really don’t do that much for me, but Jinjer have other elements that keep it interesting and have me absolutely hooked. Can NOT wait to see you delve further 😍
Jinjer is definitely one of those bands that make it easy to be in the mood to give a listen to a track you've not heard yet. Especially when there is a new offering. Having watched more of your reactions after finding your channel through The Warning, I think putting Jinjer into a rotation will be thoroughly enjoyable for you, your channel and my fellow subs here. You picked up on the Djent style early in this one. The vocal melody was complimented by the complexity that Eugene, Roman and Vlad always provide with the instrumentation. Tatiana's characters are Frida Kahlo, Joan of Arc, Marie Curie and Cleopatra- women who fit into the female empowerment message of the song.
Loving this song. Yep, just a tease, heard the new album is done, this will be the 5th, definitely looking forward to it. Not all their songs start with cleans before getting to harsh. That amount of cleans to start here reminds me of a couple songs from the last album "Vortex" and "Wallflowers". Told ya Roman ,Eugene and, Vlad are just awesome musicians.😂 Tatiana is representing women from history in the video, Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, Marie Curie, and the painter I've seen commented as either Frida Kahlo or Georgia O'Keeffe. You got a lot of suggestions for this band in last video, just pick any of those, can't go wrong.🤘🤘
Dude, they are on a different level. I got her outfits and references, and just how powerful the song was lyrically on the last few listen throughs. WOW is all I can say. This band does not fuck around at all, and I am ready to bathe in it's glory!
I've not seen Georgia O'Keefe mentioned yet and my wife did just have an ah, yes moment when I mentioned it to her after we both has considered the painter to be Frida Kahlo, who seemed to fit into the revolutionary nature of the other three. Not at all discounting the long career and importance of Georgia O'Keefe. Thanks mate!
If jinjer is setting the standard and i do believe this is the case. Then their new album will be legendary and an epic classic almost even before it is released. I just can't wait.
Yeah my friend! I have the same reaction to this song. It is absolute fire. Pure endorphin rush. And I think it's perfect to go straight from Pisces to this. They actually give me similar vibes. Now that you've seen a bit of the range they display, you'll be in the spirit to boggle to more changeups! They have a very recognizable sound, but surprise is the order of the day with this band. Expect the unexpected. Just when you think you know where they're going, they throw a curveball at you. You'll find several varieties of metal, along with flavors of other genres even outside rock. You haven't seen a live video yet. On some level a lot of people have to prove to themselves that one small woman can do all that without crazy effects. You're hip to the growl, so you're kinda ready for it. Tatiana simply has a unique instrument. She's a unicorn. We're enjoying your journey with Jinjer. They do tend to take your brain by storm. At the beginning of this video you said you were SLOWLY becoming a Jinjer fan lol. I think it's a done deal now my friend! You'll not be sorry. There's a lot to love here, and if you're anything like me, the more you hear the more you'll love. Enjoy! It's a great time to be a Jinjer fan.
Your reaction style has grown on me in a hurry. I really like how you have musical knowledge and aren't afraid to use it. One of my favorite songs by Jinjer is- Pit of Consciousness (live in Kiev)...imho, that song really showcases Tatiana's growling range...low deep guttural to higher pitched screams and everything in between. The guys really show out also, but I like it more for Tatiana. You earned my sub when you did Nightwish, but I will be sticking around for the Jinjer journey 🤘👍✊ Link to the song in question...th-cam.com/video/vEhxuNuHWls/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Q4fVXQFKrDfd1VRV
@@Reactingtothespectrum Joined the Discord channel to take you up on the one on ones...And might I be so bold as to suggest that you do a double reaction of Pit of Consiousness...Live AND OMV, to get a sense of how good they are at sounding "studio" while live on stage. Jinjer is simply paving a new metal road for others to "attempt" to emulate. They are creating their legacy with every song, every interview, every video. They will go down as one of the greatest bands of all time, with company like...Pink Floyd...Rush...Led Zeppelin...Metallica...mark my words, the legacy will be huge and undeniable.
Brother you have a lot to very good music to listen to. There's no bad songs just some you will like more than others . But everything and I mean everything is good. Hey man this is totally your channel and we watch to hear what you have to say good, bad , or indifferent it just gets better from here. Have fun with this journey. Oh I forgot 😂😂. It's jinjer time and I'm here for that.
Great point about the fact that some bands sacrifice musicality to technicality and that easily becomes boring. Jinjer has some recipe how to create songs. First of all guys compose the instrumental part of the song. Their current main composer is the drummer (although all of them make some contributions). He's a classically trained pianist but as a drummer he seems to be like a mixture of Joe Morello (from Dave Brubeck Quartet) and Tomas Haake (from Meshuggah). As a result their last albums full of patterns intricate in all sences. It's all about odd time signatures and changes, unexpected transitions, unorthodox song structures. And all of it represented with a top level of technicality. Their music oftenly described as a "metal jazz". And yeah, sometimes that music have a risk to fall into the technicality for the sake of technicality, interesting for some people but not for many. But it's just a first step of the composition. When the instrumental part is done the guys send it to Tatiana. She has to come out with lyrics and with the vocal layer. Tatiana shouts something like "WTF is that, have mercy, how do you think I could sing above all of this mess?!" Then she procrastinates days and weeks with the lyrics while listening to the new music, procrastinates straight to the deadline. And then she comes to the studio and sometimes just intuitively in one take creates her vocal layer. Tatiana is not only the great lyricist. She's a great composer of her vocal part, it glues all of those intricate patterns to some holistic composition which combines musicality and technicality. And note - Tatiana doesn't like Meshuggah. Actually she used to hate it but then she discovered that their live shows are amazing. But all in all she doesn't listen to that kind of music in her free time. Moreover she doesn't listen to any metal nowadays. Today she listens to Tchaykovskiy (according to her recent interview).
IMO you are absolutely right, sometimes the musicality falls by the wayside due to the technical difficulties. Sometimes it seems to me like in sports, who jumps the highest, who runs the fastest etc., but that only has a limited connection to music... technical skills should be subordinate to the song and not the other way around! I have been a musician myself for a very long time.............. thanx for complex reaction and warm greetings from germany

No, thank YOU!! I know there's sooo much to fill in, and I'm really excited!
Jinjer doing Jinjer-Things! Love Jinjer!
A lot of us Jinjer fans refer to this as Jinjer doing Jinjer things! They really are their own genre at this point!
Exactly.

one of the most interesting reactions to this song. I 100% agree with your thoughts on technicality and enjoyment.
Great reaction. Glad you are enjoying the Jinjer ride. Pit of Consciousness live in Kiev is one of my favs. Keep up the great work sir. 🤘🔥
