I think Secret Rings is the most underrated Sonic game in existence. The graphics for the game look awesome for the Wii, the music is pretty great, and I found the gameplay pretty fun when you unlock the skills. Plus I didn't really find the motion controls that bad.
+super koopa 64 Yay I am not the only one that things Secret rings is better than Heroes. But I completely agree with you Secret rings linearity works much better together with the basic Gameplay than it did in heroes, Combat doesn't slow the game nearly as much down as in Heroes and the only Bugs I found in Secret rings are annoying at worst because unlike Heroes with its buggy Light dash and rail grinding are the problematic elements in Secret rings not nearly as much used really the worse offender in Rings is the catapult and even thoughts work better than Heroes Special stages.
Ryno Behnke I disagree completely. Heroes had actual control over my characters that Secret Rings only wished it could achieve. I can't tell you how many times I chucked my Wii Remote across the room because of how unresponsive and stiff Sonic was leading to many unfair deaths. And the combat didn't slow the game down. Especially when you fully level up your team so they can cut through enemies like a hot knife through butter. And I'd much rather prefer a jank Light Dash over the god awful rail grinding and 2D sections Secret Rigs had. Don't even get me *STARTED* on the missions! There's a reason I don't have the game anymore.
+frankpro53 Sorry but I can't stand Heroes super slippery controls on small platforms over bottomless pits which is heroes basic level structure for 80% of the game. And I can't count the times the dash of the power Characters over shoot me into my death. Problem is you first actually have to level up and which this level system working like this would be a 2d shooter Aka losing every things ones you die (Which by the not correctly homing homing attacks, the over shooting power Dashes, the many many bottomless pits, the malfunctioning Ring dash and the completely brocken grindig above bottomless pits can happen really quickly) means that you have to fight way to many enemies with way to long health bars for ever because the door wound open Or you can actually properly use the switches for as long as this guys are still alive forcing you to fight them which brings the game to a hold. Funny that you mention the bad grinding in Secret rings when Heroes is the only game that has grinding that is just as bad as Secret rings only with the difference that Secret rings has to to many grinding segments that thoughts that do existed don't happen over bottomless pits where one problem by the rail switch will kill you which as already mention happens a lot in heroes and to make matters worse has heroes entire levels filled to the brim with mandatory Grinding like Rail canyon while in secret rings there are barley any necessary grinding segments and though that do exist don't want you to switch rails in a few seconds. And secret rings 2d sections aren't nearly as bad as Heroes spezial (Bug) stages or this stupid Gokarts segments were after 2 hits it becomes a pur gamble if you will survive not to mention that precision this segments wants from the player when there just as slippery as the rest of the game. Oh speaking of missions how are doing the Chaodix Still looking for hermit carbs and missing chao's Or how could we forget that we have to go through the entire Game no less than 4 times before reaching the finally which one team having to do the worst missions ever one being just completely combat focused one being the standard Team Sonic and one getting the tutorial. There is a reason why I haven't finished Heroes So I hope I didn't sound like an ass but I really don't like Heroes
Ah. I really miss Griffith. His Sonic voice was perfection from this point. Always will be to me. When it comes to story, visuals, level themes and soundtrack, this game really does well with those things. Such a shame that it's ruined by the poor control scheme. It really would have been so much better if it had the physical controller option. Although, Black Knight ended up being the much better game because it fixed these issues. The funny thing is that you can actually use the GameCube controller in party mode which I had a lot of fun with. I assume you're playing at level 99? What skills have you equipped? Sonic's move-set does seem to improve since he moves a lot faster than before but I never bothered continuing to follow through so I never really experienced Sonic fully levelled up in this game because my patience was gone at that point. I imagine it would probably be a better experience.

Maybe the voice just have grown on me but as the series progress, his voice seemed natural to me. It matches Boom Sonic's more laidback or teenager attitude or Modern Sonic's hyperactive status.

I sync them with sound (Dump Audio feature in Dolphin) and finally render the whole thing.

seriously who thought it would be a good Idea to make this the second Zone of the Game especially when compared to Sand oasis and the rather limited move set this early in the game is such a platform Heavy level like Dinosaur Jungle way to early in the game. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the reason for Secret rings bad reception namely that barley anyone made it past this level after which the game gets a lot better.
To be honest I had very little problems with the motion controls(I actually find it plays much better than black knight) and this also flows into my point a leveled up Sonic plays a lot better than Sonic during earlier parts of the Game which means that putting a level like Dinosaur Jungle forces the players to deal with a very weak and badly to control sonic in one of the most platforming based zones of the game. I have seen and heard multible times that people stopped the game when reaching this level because it just plays horribel with an early in the game sonic. And really this was during the play through also my personal low point (well minus the get no rings mission in Pirat storm that one was a bitch) Which Is why I give this level partially the reason for the games bad reception because the level wants to much from a low level Sonic who lacks speed especially in his sideways movements.

Да, младший анлишед не такой интересный. Управление не очень адекватное. Движения влево-вправо по движению мыши. Остальное на кнопках клавиатуры. Катапульту пока не знаю, как заставить работать. Если бы это был не TAS (который я записывал, когда игра медленно работала), то так красиво пройти ни за что не получилось бы.
If you really like taking time to level up things and just want a fun and chillax game that REALLY can go fast, then TOTALLY get it. If you don't like to take the time to get rewards, then don't.
This game had a lot of things going for it in visuals, music and art direction but the fact that it's ENTIRELY on rails and you have to use some really imprecise technology to control Sonic makes it one of the worst Sonic games I ever played, honestly. It's definitely ambitious, I'll give it that, but ambition means nothing when you can't even control Sonic properly through this mess. I'll take 06, Shadow and hell, even Sonic Blast on the Game Gear over this game forever and ever because I'm given free control (Plus, they're all good for a laugh, Secret Rings is stupidly boring). I'm glad Black Knight fixed all the issues SR had and was actually a fun and, most importantly, playable game. Secret Rings still looks amazing for the Wii though and this video actually made it look playable, congrats dude.

I don't want to judge dialogues in Forces yet but Secret Rings dialogues are definitely better than anything post Black Knight.

The bad reception was pretty much because of the very badly implemented motion controls.

I have seen and heard multible times that people stopped the game when reaching this level because it just plays horribel with an early in the game sonic.
And really this was during the play through also my personal low point (well minus the get no rings mission in Pirat storm that one was a bitch)
Which Is why I give this level partially the reason for the games bad reception because the level wants to much from a low level Sonic who lacks speed especially in his sideways movements.

И пройдя недавно ПС2шный Анлишед я понял что не смотря на ужасно непонятное для эмуля управление и не смотря на то, что я игру так и не осилил - удовольствия я получил намного больше от неё, нежели от анлы. Как ты управление настроил до адекватного состояния? Подскажи?
Да, младший анлишед не такой интересный.
Управление не очень адекватное. Движения влево-вправо по движению мыши. Остальное на кнопках клавиатуры. Катапульту пока не знаю, как заставить работать. Если бы это был не TAS (который я записывал, когда игра медленно работала), то так красиво пройти ни за что не получилось бы.
Вот с катапультой и у меня затык произошёл как раз. Х)
А младший анлишед вызыывает у меня просто физическую боль...

The game sould be better if you could go at your own pace instead of auto running, and his speed sometimes is ludacris.

The controls are pretty bad but if you are interested in other aspects of the game, then by all means get it.
If you really like taking time to level up things and just want a fun and chillax game that REALLY can go fast, then TOTALLY get it. If you don't like to take the time to get rewards, then don't.

This game had a lot of things going for it in visuals, music and art direction but the fact that it's ENTIRELY on rails and you have to use some really imprecise technology to control Sonic makes it one of the worst Sonic games I ever played, honestly.
It's definitely ambitious, I'll give it that, but ambition means nothing when you can't even control Sonic properly through this mess.
I'll take 06, Shadow and hell, even Sonic Blast on the Game Gear over this game forever and ever because I'm given free control (Plus, they're all good for a laugh, Secret Rings is stupidly boring).
I'm glad Black Knight fixed all the issues SR had and was actually a fun and, most importantly, playable game.
Secret Rings still looks amazing for the Wii though and this video actually made it look playable, congrats dude.
