- Being the only rose among the world of thorns is tough, but do it right, focus on your goals and enjoy every moment of life and soon, every sacrifices will pay off. Here are my 10 tips for my fellow female seafarers, based on my personal experiences to help you succeed in your own journey. Cheers to equal rights and opportunities.

She’s speaking base on her experience in cargo, but it’s way different in passenger cruiseship where thousands of crew from different nationalities and a lot of lady seafarers too so harassment in any form is a NO NO as we have ZERO TOLERANCE on board Small wrong action you might loose your job right away. But part of what she says also apply in cruiseship where you can get a lot of attention specially if you’re a first timer on board that’s why you have to be tough, and I agreed on everything she said! Act right! On my experience i never step my feet on a crew bar, my life was just work,cabin, and gym. I distance myself even in crewmess cause sometimes being too friendly misinterpret as flirting. I gained respect from people through my action! And one more thing, bow down to you! You are so tough! I can’t imagine myself working on a ship as the only girl, you are so brave! You gained my respect 👏
I felt like my heart skipped a bit while reading your comment. Like what I always say, I really want to use this platform to share my experiences specially to young ones who are just starting because this male dominated world that we're in is really overwhelming at first but once we get to know how we carry ourselves properly everything seems to fall in place. Let me tell you that I'm also proud of you for always guarding up, we can only rely on ourselves when we are onboard. I wish you well and I hope you get all your heart's desires, fair winds and following seas love.

Salamat s mggaling n tips Jy. Mdami s mga tips mo di lang applicable s pagka-babaeng seaman kundi s kahit anong trabaho n di normal (abnormal) o kkaiba ang working environment. O trabahong medyo 'toxic' ang relationship. Mganda rin n maririnig ng mga lalake, o mga seamen (vs seawomen) n gumagalang s mga babae. Para malaman di nila ang 'best' way n pakitungo s kanilang mga babaeng ktrabaho - tulad ng nsabi mong, keep distance, no emotion but devotion, at iba pa.
Tungkol nman s mga libro dahil hilig n ninyo mgbasa, subukan ninyo ang ebook-reader; tulad ng kindle o nook. Msarap s mata kpag nagbbbasa, khit matagalan, khit s dilim dahil may backlight. At ang dami-dami ninyong mllagay n libro (e-books), s ebook-reader, 100, 200 books kayang kaya . At di n ninyo kailangan magdala ng mbibigat n libro.
Very Good ! May integrity . Tama yun na always keep distance at huwag dumikit dikit dyan ka talaga mapapa away lalo na kapag may mga asawa yung kinoclose .. God bless you

kakatuwa tong vlog na to. lahat ng sinabi ni mam ay true talaga. especially the devotion not emotion part. lalo if nasa passenger ka tapos 1st contract nanjan lahat ng matatamis na salita para makuha ka. susko. kaya dapat talaga be strong and learn from what maam said. as in lahat ng sinabi nya talaga dapat marinig ng mga women na gusto mag barko.

The advice you gave here is excellent and is applicable for both men and women in any professional environment. I've seen too many otherwise talented men never get taken seriously and stalled in their careers because they still dressed fratboys, in a corporate environment, and one of them would show up to work hungover even he was mid thirties.

Be a seaman/woman and see the world free 3rd. Nice tips and advice's to inspired the newly seafarers. I'm BSMT grad we back 93. My apprenticeship is albar shipping company. But, pagbabako pinili KO pumasok SA PMA Kasi that time 19 palang ako. Ingat kau palagi

Bilang cadet at sasampa pa lang. What attitude should we possess para po hindi maliitin ung kakayahan namin at anu po ang best way to express ourselves, kasi meron pong nakapagsabi sakin na " mas mabuti nalang na umaktong mangmang sa harap ng superiors kay sa magmagaling " do you agree with that po ?
Hi po Miss Jy, ask ko lang po if nag aral kayo ng self-defense like muay thai or taekwando. Kasi po as a future shefarer, natatakot po ako ma harass lalo na po sexually and alam naman natin na pag sa pisikal mas malakas talaga ang mga lalaki. But I do really idolize you po kasi sobrang confident niyo po and happy, I do hope po pag makakasakay na po ako ng barko is ma adapt ko po yung personality niyo as cheerful and so positive niyo po though sabi niyo hindi talaga mawawala yung mga sad moments but you have your goals and you have your family as an inspiration and supporters. Sana po di kayo tumigil sa pagvlovlog kasi mas namomotivate po akong ipagpatuloy tung nasimulan ko na.
Hi Minze, I did not have any particular training with self-defense. I can say na you really have to carry yourself with grace and confidence. Kailangan equipped ka with knowledge on how to do your job flawlessly kasi that's how you will gain their respect. Not all naman is good people sa barko, may maeencounter ka din na mga kakaibang tao but then you will always see red flags, so maaga pa lang you know na kung sino ang mga hindi mo dapat pagtuunan ng pansin. Along the way makakabisado mo din how to adapt. Just always look after yourself kasi wala kang family and friends pag dating na sa workplace. Basta focus on your goals lang and everything will be okay.
