This is a video created in Winnipeg for Economic Development Winnipeg, Winnipeg's tourism and economic development agency to promote the site visitwinnipegno... which sells Winnipeg as a great place to move to because of job opportunities (even in the recession) affordable housing and plenty of cool things to do. And also because it exists.

I went to high school just outside of Winnipeg. Our sociology teacher showed us Reds in 1985, and I distinctly remember Warren Beatty mentioning Winnipeg, and the murmur of the class. And this was in the middle of my obsessive personal interest in the 1919 General Strike!

About 45 years ago I sat down with my dad to watch the 39 steps ... First time I'd ever heard Winnipeg mentioned in a movie, I've never forgotten it, I danced around the living room.
