Besides better insulation you do know that just the color white reflects more sunlight.. I'll give you an example of a simple experiment done. There was a mountain in tibet that no longer was getting any snow when in decades past it was always covered and the melting snow for water was needed, all that was done was that an area that had rocks was painted white and just because of that snow began to accumulate all around that area so a proper test would of required equal colors
Can confirm. I took a trip to Tibet and up to Everest Advanced Base Camp I. Between Lhasa and Everest's Rongbuk Valley there is a town called Xigazê (pronounced she-got-see), just southeast of there was an ice fall that would normally be 150-160 ft tall even during the summer. The locals showed us pictures of how it was way back in the day and it was 20-30 ft thick. They showed us pictures from 2010 and there was maybe 20-40 ft of ice at the very top and it was very thin, basically non-existent. When we were there in 2016, it was making it all the way down to the bottom along the white painted face though it was only about 3-6ft thick at least it was it was there. That experience kind of slapped my cheeks with regards of the whole global warming myth [sarcasm]. It is so effective that the locals paint all kinds of things white now. Many believe that it has magical powers to bring back what used to be there when they were growing up and technically they aren't wrong. It just won't be all the way back.
Very nice video, but I must agree with the other viewers regarding the cooler color. White does reflect the sun rays, thus making the exterior color. I am surprised that after three days the grey cooler still had ice in it. For the price difference, I don’t feel the Yeti is worth the $$$ + I am surprised they didn’t include cup holders and measuring ruler.
I'm looking at getting one of these ozark trail coolers. I need it to fit in a metal frame that I have so it needs to be a certain size. Would you be able to give me the measurements at the very bottom please. Side to side and front to back. Thanks.
These coolers are also supposed to be cooled down first. I always have to sacrifice a bag of ice to cool down the cooler before putting anything in it. Once cool, then the next bag(s) of ice last a really long time.
Thanks brother...‼️ I think this is one of those instances where you get what you pay for scenario comes into play... I've always held to the notion that certain things and items I purchased throughout my life where I've lived by the philosophy that if you always buy the "Best" you'll always be happy with it.... 🙏🏻 🛥️🎣
Well said! Zayne ,very true, wen i started my channel i could not afford a 500$ cooler and i got a 100$ one, but now that i can afford a 500$ cooler i see exactly what you are saying cap. and if i would purchased the yeti at the beginning i would have saved $100😉👍👍👍⚓
Approach what's best with caution. The most expensive isn't always the best. Investigate and get the facts before making the determination like what we see here by the Capt!
Was on the edge of my chair waiting to see if you would actually cut that yeti in half.....lol. I have two of them for my boat. Love the cooler, hate the weight.
lol cap. and yes very heavy but the cooler that i cut was heavy too and was smaller i guess a good cooler will always have weight problems , thanks for your comment cap.
Ozark had a 160 temp on the outside of the lid and 63 inside, that's 97 degrees of insulation, the yeti had an outside temp of 106 and an inside temp of 56 for 50 degrees insulation, Ozark wins by 47 degrees. Now go get a dark colored yeti instead of the white for a real comparison. I have both and I can tell you that I see no difference in quality at all and if I would've bought the Yeti I would be pissed but I won it at a work christmas party.
Hi Capt. I was wondering how I missed this video when you posted it, then I realized I was away from home, and my computer, for a week back then..... You did a nice comparison here. I almost choked when I thought you were going to cut the Yeti apart! ☺ If Ozark would use a slightly thicker gasket to seal the lid better, (stopping air infiltration is critical) and go to white, not dark, coloring, it would greatly improve their performance. Flat-white is the best/most reflective color. (NOT silver/reflective like a lot of folks mistakenly believe by the way)... It's why commercial buildings and factories in southern/mostly-cooling climates use white-membrane roofs; for better heat reflection. (If anyone doubts the value of flat-white vs shiny silver; get two standard silver/chrome butter knives. Paint one flat white. Lay them side-by-side out in the sun for a an hour or so.... try to pick up the silver one with out burning your fingers. Then try try the white one....This is simple, applied, building-science ).
No worries captain I know you're busy sometimes but I'm glad you saw the comparison and yes I agree with you a 100% the color and the seal is number oneNo worries captain I know you're busy sometimes but I'm glad you saw the comparison and yes I agree with you a 100% the color and the seal is number one End us with the Ozzark fails And that cooler cost me close to $100 so it wasn't cheap to my knowledge but this other jety $500 one is a awesome Cooler especially that I'm out there for 5 days and this next video I will show you how good A-day and 5 days captain thank you for watching you're awesome viewer of my channel👍⚓️🛥
The perfect container for me to freeze ice in is the true 1 gallon round plastic pail that ice cream comes in from Sam's club and probably Costco. If you need it to ice down fish on the way home, it slips out of the container good after fishing several hours and you can refreeze the same containers over and over. Guess I'm either too tight or too broke, but I almost refuse to buy ice in the bags. No doubt about the quality of the Yeti cooler, but totally out of m y price range. I would never pay that for a cooler. I do however have their coffee cups and they are excellent also. Thanks Capt. for the great comparison video!
Very true cap. They are so expensive, my opinion this coolers should be priced at $250 no more then that but 509 is a ridiculous price cap. And yeti takes advantage of that their cooler are great quality 👌 Thanks for the great tips
I have a 150 Qt Grizzly Cooler that I bought at a special Costco event several years ago. Even though it was a "great" price, it was still a lot of money and I had my doubts that I might have caved in to marketing. Prior to moving to Florida, I used it as a holding box for a trip's worth of ice and to store my daily catch on trips out of Neah Bay, Washington. I cable locked it into the back of my truck where it sat in the sun. I would load an Igloo cooler with ice from the "mother cooler" to bring on the boat for the day and by night, the ice looked like your Ozark on day two. Four days later, the Grizzly ice was still solid. That 150 Qt cooler is way too big and heavy to use for day trips and I had been looking at one of the cheaper "knock off" brands of Yeti to replace the cheap Igloo to handle the life sucking heat of the Florida summer. Thanks for this video. I'll pass on the bargain brand.
Yes I understand you a 100% captain it took me over 6 years to make this decision this coolers are very expensive and expensive and since I fish 4 to 5 days at a time out there I need to keep my ice in good healthy conditions So my trip does not get interrupted by not having ice. And yes you can find another brand that is very similar for half the price captain thank you for your comment and navigate safe hello from Florida
Thanks for the comparison. A lot of yeti coolers are dark, and even darker than this Ozark trail. So whatever brand a person gets, if it’s going to be in the sun, it pays to get white. I think that was 95% of the difference in this test. I think the difference in seals is minor. Imo. But as far as colors go, all my cooler usage is while camping, so my cooler is always in the shade, one way or another. And that was probably a good idea taking the yeti sticker off, maybe it will take a little longer before it’s stolen lol. I actually just put in an order for the 35 L Ozark trail. Hoping to get decent results with it. It’s on sale for $57 so I can’t complain.
Wow cap. 57$ is a great price and you are right the color has alot to do with it and i noticed the seal of the yeti is much ait tite the the Ozzarr. Thanks for your comment cap. And enjoy your awesome cooler👍👍⚓️🏝
Thanks for the cooler comparison video Cap! There are so many brands out there these days, I’d love to have the quality of a Yeti but at a lower cost. I have a couple of Rtic coolers and I think the quality is right up there and at a much lower cost. I’m also looking for another small high quality cooler, looking at the Viking coolers from Iceland coolers. They come in a variety of colors and have a lot of great features and include a dry rack and cutting board divider. Also they do have a built in ruler and bottle opener. Might go with one of those
I have a yeti roadie. The drain sucks. The handle comes lose if you grab it and pull it towards you and it works no better than my igloo sportsman 20's. That being said. It does have a great finish and the rubber feet don't leave marks on the deck of my boat. Both of the handles on my igloo sportsman coolers have had their handles break in the same spot which was a easy repair and they have black feet which really mess up my boat deck. I'm still on the search for the right cooler for my needs.
awesome cap i hope this video helped and if you want to support this video please use my link if you shop at amazon and amazon will give my channel a commission so that way i can keep making videos like this cap. thanks in advance 👍👍⚓
Thanks for your video but there’s some biases here. First of all one color is white, reflecting heat 5:47 . The other one is gray when you compare the ice remaining and both coolers versus the 5X cost difference in a yeti it’s a no-brainer. These types of coolers are way too heavy. Just buy yourself a Coleman extreme for $40.
Well, captain when I go fishing for about 5 to 6 days. The jetty meets my needs. But yes, if you need something for a day or 2, any $40 cooler will do it. Thanks for watching captain.
@@OutOnTheReef same back at you Captain. When I also go on fishing trips, I usually have to get more bait sometimes tackle beer food and I always throw a couple extra bags of ice in. I think I pay $2.99 for a 10 pound bag of ice. So if I do the math, I can get myself an extra 150 bags of Ice and still be in good shape. And it’s Yeti and Jedi.
Not a good comparison to use a white cooler vs. a grey cooler for a sun test. Spray paint the grey cooler or find a white one if they make it then re run the test. That would be the only fair way to compare. Also keep in mind the price point. A $500 cooler better outperform a $100 cooler.
If you live Off the Grid, maybe a Yeti is worth the $$$. I never needed to store ice for more than 48 hours and make my own blocks at home. As everyone said, it's the color and when you think about it, the Ozark did a good job between internal and external temperature.
yes i agree cap. me im 4 days to 5 out at sea and keeping my ice healthy is a must to keep my catch cool but yes for a day or 2 any cooler will work just fine, thanks for your comment cap.👍⚓
I looked at a Yeti, but since I am not ready to make the Bahamas run yet I will hold off. I have the igloo and it keeps ice for about 2 days and only $89. Looking forward to your next adventure!!
Yes captain the igloo cooler will do just fine for 2 days but when you make it to the Bahamas 4 to 5 days at a time you need something that really works like great performance Like a jetty style but for now you're fine with 2 day cooler captain
That is a awesome ad on bor a new boat cap. In my new boat i did not get a new yeti🤣but i got a crooked boat lol, thanks for watching cap And it's nice to hear from you👍🛥
I happened to be at West Marine the other day after not having been there for like 5 years. I noticed they have their own line of coolers and they honestly looked really nice.
Nice test To be honest I never realized how much was loosing on the plug In fact many time I leave the plug off to help drain the water Now I know is a bad idea Also a trick someone show me tha may works great for you Put a dry ice pack on the bottom Will keep your ice for days without melting Saludos Capt
Lol John and I got really scared when I reviewed the video and I thought the same thing . But if it wasn't because it cost us so much I would've cut it to lol thanks for watching
I had to work out of town for a while, so I was sleeping in a van. I had an Ozark cooler with food for the week, instead of ice I would freeze water bottles I would put about 10 frozen water bottles on Sunday night by Wednesday evening they will still 50 % frozen it keep my food in good condition not once did it spoiled, so my comment is not about the cooler brand it about the trick with frozen water bottles, it has 2 functions ice and water to drink
very true cap price makes a difference , but wen i go fishing for 4 to 5 days at sea a great cooler makes a huge difference for me but if you are just fishing for one day any cooler will do cap. and that way you can save lots of money cap 👍⚓
That’s true capt. You fish a lot over night for days. I don’t over night on my center console so the ozark fairs well. I would think the difference would be a lot more as far as temperature wise tho. Yeti is def the best but gotta give it to ozark for getting even that close in the ability to hold ice. Not yeti but close
Hey long time no see. Actually u paid $600 x the yeti …lol. Those things are heavy and after u put ice in it it only leaves a limited amount of room. I’d only put the Coronas inside there If I were you. Nothing like an iced cold beer over 1k’of water. Have you factor the extra weight and fuel consumption / that Ll be cool .Good video captain as always. Be safe.
Yes I know it will be extra weight like a 150 pounds with the ice And is the only way that I can have my fresh fish catch And it's awesome to hear from you again captain
The only reason the Yeti performed better is because is white. Either paint the Ozark trail white or get a white one and they both will perform about the same
Captain, yes the color makes a difference. I have bought both Yeti and Ozarks. I have painted the Ozarks with white plastic paint from Rustolium, and the Ozarks last just as long as the YETI. I don’t know why Qzarks paint their coolers grey to attract more heat. However, I can’t justify buying another YETI when, a small fix to the Ozarks fixes the issue.
$500 verses $100. I do believe for that much difference all one would need do is spend maybe $15 for some white spray paint made to adhere to plastics and the difference between the two in terms of performance would be so small it would be impossible to justify paying $385 more for the Yeti. The white paint would lower the outside surface temperature by 50 to 60 degrees. That in turn would reduce the inside temps a lot. The Yeti had an outside surface temp of 106.5 degrees with an inside temp of 56 degrees for a difference of 50.5 degrees. The Ozark Trail had an outside surface temp of 160 degrees with an inside temp of 62.5 degrees for a difference of 97.5 degrees. So which cooler is likely doing a better job of resisting thermal conduction? I'd say the Ozark Trail is doing the better job. Of course that isn't certain unless we are much closer to comparing apples to apples. Right now that's not really the case. Again, for the difference in costs, once the heat absorbing qualities of the Ozark Trail is addressed it would be crazy to pay more just to get the same or less. And if you don't want to bother with paint a simple white towel would do just about the same as the paint. And if the towel got wet? Oh well, towels are always getting wet, aren't they? I think this is a perfect example of paying more doesn't guarantee you're going to get more. Often what you are getting is hype. One other point to consider is interior volume. The Yeti is bigger and it's keeping ice better than does the smaller Ozark Trail. So, that is going to make it all the more difficult to get an accurate comparison. However, $385 dollars saved would allow for the purchase of a second Ozark Trial plus the paint to make it less prone to heat absorption and thermal conduction losses, The resulting saved cashwould still be like $170. That will buy a lot of ice, food, and drinks.
Great comment and yes the color has lot to do with but the yeti has a better closing gasket then the Ozark and that makes a huge difference, i know the yeti is overpriced by $300 The real price for the yeti should be no more then$250 but for sure i see better quality on the build of the yeti cap.👍⚓️🛥💵💵
@@OutOnTheReef ; I can afford a Yeti, but forking out that much money for a cooler just hurts my feelings. Some say I'm cheap. I say I'm frugal. I'm retired, live on a fixed income (which is actually pretty good) and balance my expenditures against what I'm getting in return. The Yeti 120 hard cooler available today has a suggested retail price of $600. I recently built a cooler that has a capacity almost the same (120 qts v. 107) for less than $100 dollars, and it performs incredibly well. My fishing buddy has the Yeti 120 and we've done side-by-side performance evaluation between his high-dollar cooler and my el cheapo. The results really pissed him off. In fact he was so pissed he returned his Yeti, got his money back and had me build him one identical to mine and paid me $200. Please note the prices I'm including in the materials list below are current and is not what I paid for them at the beginning of this year when I built both coolers. Inflation has caused all materials cost to rise a fair amount.. Here's how I did it. I first went online and purchased an el cheapo Styrofoam cooler from a company named Air Sea Containers (item no.TEMP-F-331612. The cost was $29.99. I then went on line and found a plastic tote large enough for the cooler to fit inside with a little room to spare. This I got from Walmart online for $29.98, I purchased the Sterilite 50 Gallon Plastic Stacker Tote, Stadium Blue, number 14890403. I then purchase the chemicals for expanding marine grade foam through Amazon The product is Total Boat Floatation Foam 2 qt. Kit. The cost is $59.99. Finally, 2 cans Rust-Oleum 211339 Specialty Spray Paint for Plastic, 12 oz, White (total cost: $18.56.All other materials were scrounged or items I already have on hand. Also, I didn't include any shipping charges as this depends on how the items are shipped and to where - and that's if there are shipping charges. The cooler I choose is set inside the tote first . A measurement it taken to determine how much space exists between the lid of the cooler and the inside of the tote lid. I then divide the figure by 2 so I can determine how much insolating material I can line the bottom of the tote with and how much I can later add to the inside of the bottom of the lid of the tote. For both areas I used layers of corugated cardboard and sheets of bubble wrap. After cutting to fit I glued the bottom-lining layers to one another using hot-melt clue. I then sprayed this filler with a couple of coats of clear Flex-Seal I had one had. I then put the cooler back in the tote centering it left to right and front to rear as best I could. I then mixed small amounts of the expanding foam and began to layer it up until the foam was even with the top of the cooler with the its removed. ( A little at a time works great because rate of expansion is more than you might think.) . While the expanded foam continued to cure, I started prepping the tote lid beginning with the inside bottom surface. Again I used layers of cardboard and bubble wrap shaped to fit.. The problem I had to over come was how to bond the cardboard to the plastic lid, especially since gravity was going to be a factor. What I did was simply poke a few holed in the lid and then used thin wire to hold the plastic lid sandwiched between two layers of cardboard. I also applied some hot glue to the card lining the interior side of the lid. This was mildly a pain in the butt, but not too bad. The cardboard gave me a secure base to then glue all the other layer together. The final layer was cardboard - it needed to be since that, too, I sprayed with a couple coats of clear Flex-Seal so as to make it resistant to water absorbing damage. To fill the void between the sides of the lid area of the Styro-foam cooler and the tote area above the height of the cooler without the top installed I simply used terry cloth rags from old towels, Roll them up and set them in place. This insulates quite well and insures there is always something to wipe hands with. Also easily removed, washed, dried and replaced as needed. As for the exterior of the lid goes, I decided I wanted this to double as a cutting board. So I took some rock maple I had left over from building my wife a butcher-block top for the island in her kitchen. I ripped it into strips, and then shaped it so it fits snuggly within the recesses of the tote lid. Once sanded, treated and glued in place it looked like some high-dollar custom piece. Of course at the very beginning of this project I had painted all exterior surfaces that would show with the white spray paint. So, basically, that's it in a nut shell. I've got a big ol' cooler that holds a weeks worth of food and drinks, and maintains ice for about a week using only 20 lbs of ice. That's with it sitting on the back of the boat in full sun with temperatures in the 90's and low 100's. Empty it weighs about 20 pounds and when filled with ice and provisions definitely takes two to move around. But the same holds true for the Yeti 120. Considering this same creation can still be built today for less than $200, performs as well or better than the Yeti, and it is something a person can say they made them self, I can see no reason to spend an extra $400 to just have the most highly hyped cooler on the market. You spend a lot of time on your boat and I challenge you to give this a try. I'll bet you sell your Yeti after your very next trip. Oh, and I should also include the following: One; both coolers lack a drain plug. This is both good and bad. It is more efficient as a result, but more of a pain to drain. I made it less of a pain by purchasing a tiny 110V submersible pump used in small ponds or fountains. I simply plug it into the inverter I have on board the boat and pump all the water out in less than two minutes. I then just leave it open for a hour or so to dry before storing. And two: I realized that when I attached the cutting board I should have run a bead of clear silicone caulk around the recessed area of the tote's lid so water would not be trapped next to the wooden cutting board after rising it off with water.. I did make this modification later but doing it before would be the better option. It makes for a better finished appearance.
My white 80 qt. Engle cooler has outperformed my white Yeti cooler in keeping ice. Engle latches were absolutely plastic junk. Broke a latch within six months. Replaced the OEM plastic ones with their optional SS latches. I bought a snap on closed cell foam lid cushion for my Engle making it even more insulated and now I have extra seating to boot. BTW..I observed a thinner lid insulation(Ozark) compared to the Yeti shown in the video.
With the $400 difference, I would just buy two $100 ice makers from Costco and use it with that Walmart cooler. Or, buy a $500 dual voltage portable freezer from Amazon so that you don't have to worry about buying ice. BTW, you devalued that Yeti cooler once the label came off. Lol
The big deference in your test results and others is do to the color difference if you put a grey piece of plastic and a white piece of plastic in the Florida sun you will see the same temperature difference do to heat absorption. I agree there is also more loss around seal and plug. The biggest difference is due to color. Keep up the videos love them
I think the Color made some difference in your test .. Grey absorbs sun light . Whit reflects .. Therefore hence the outer temp differences. I cant justify the cost increase of the yeti since a good amount of the price goes to marketing . I owned and had experience with both.. In all Honesty I feel the value is in the ozark. For the price you can purchase several Ozark coolers and wrap one with an insulating blankets for long term trip in the sun..
very true cap. but in my case i go fishing for 4 to 5 days and any difference keeping my ice healthier makes my trip cap. but the Ozzark cooler for one day of fishing is a great cooler i agree
guess it depends on what u mean by "good". good quality coolers, yes, political ideology irrelevant to that. good company? i can see saying they bad if they america hating liberals. regardless, i'll never buy em cuz they more likely to get stolen and my engel does what i need, but if they also don't support america, all never buy em twice i guess.
Better but not 500% better. Maybe 50% better. You should of drained to see the difference in melted water to get an exact% difference in merited water for performance. But thank you for the test. It let me know $100 is totally width for what I'll be using it for
@Out On The Reef are you talking in 3rd person? Trying to figure if that was sarcasm or not. And I don't want you to think the review was bad. I thought it was a great review, but from my observation I'm just trying to inform the readers that yeti cost 500% more but only performs maybe 50-80 % better. So with that said if the yeti cost 200-250 than yes it would be a better buy.
@@antonioprado8068 I agree captain the price It's a lot hot. But if you have A long time application like days the jety will work a lot better I agree with you
This is not a fair test as the color difference between the two coolers gives an unfair advantage to the yeti being as it is white in the Ozark is Gray. FAIL!
You can't run an efficient test on something that's older than the other, running a test on something that's wore out 😂😂😂 next time purchase it at the same time, then run your test. My boss has a yeti cooler it holds ice for 1 day my Ozark trail holds ice for 3 days My Tumbler doesn't hold ice like it use to, shit wears out. 🤦
Holy smokes captain. When I first saw this video my heart sunk when I thought you were going to cut the yeti in half. I'm glad you saved it. I've always been a fan of yeti. Intact I have two of them. There great when your on a multiple day venture and need the ice to hold up. Thanks for bringing that video out. They are very expensive compared to the competition but I think there worth the cost. Also captain I need your help if you can. I started an Amazon affiliate account. And I'm trying to figure out what's the best way and place to gather all the links together so you can copy and paste them in the description all at once. I see you do that on all your videos. I tried to copy on Amazon and paste in another folder on my computer but it won't paste outside on Amazon platform. Was just wondering were you store yours. If you don't want to make it public you can Instagram me at 1fish2big. Or FB oceandeepfishing. Thanks captain. You definitely inspire me to do more stuff. Tight lines....
Hello cap. And yes I agree there are awesome coolers and where I keep my links is in one of my videos in TH-cam then when I make a new video I copy those links and I pass them on to the next video that's what I've been doing all the time captain and it works perfect try it so remember put oh remember put all the links in 1 video and you'll end copying them from TH-cam to the next video and add new links as they come at you Thanks for watching
Besides better insulation you do know that just the color white reflects more sunlight..
I'll give you an example of a simple experiment done. There was a mountain in tibet that no longer was getting any snow when in decades past it was always covered and the melting snow for water was needed, all that was done was that an area that had rocks was painted white and just because of that snow began to accumulate all around that area so a proper test would of required equal colors
that is awesome info cap. i never herd of that thanks for sharing cap.

Great video you’ve had Ozark those three days that’s pretty good I have that one but I just bought a yeti
Yes i agree the Ozzar for the weekend is perfect but the yeti for 5 days work for me better , Thanks for watching
Yes, you are right those items should be included 👍
I'm looking at getting one of these ozark trail coolers. I need it to fit in a metal frame that I have so it needs to be a certain size. Would you be able to give me the measurements at the very bottom please. Side to side and front to back. Thanks.
hello cap im sorry i thru away the cooler weeks ago cap my apologies
Look into the Dometic CFX3 75DZ or 95DZ You got fridge in on compartment and freezer in the other and less ice to deal with.
I know cap. But i have no room inside the pilothouse
These coolers are also supposed to be cooled down first. I always have to sacrifice a bag of ice to cool down the cooler before putting anything in it. Once cool, then the next bag(s) of ice last a really long time.
That is a great way to prepare the cooler cap. Thanks 👍🛥
I had no idea! Great tip
You convinced me to buy a ozark cooler 😂
lol they are build great for the price cap. you cant beat it👍👍
I bought Ozark too!
same! LOL ...a white one
Bought my 52qt for $50. It's been great for fishing, camping and hurricane season
You can paint the top white and should stay cooler? If it keeps ice for the whole weekend, it's a keeper for me😅
We'll i already tested the Yety and i got over 5 days of ice but yes painting the cooler will help a lot
I have owned YETI coolers for years and love them. Good choice Capt!
Thank you Randy I love how this yeti cooler performs soon I will put it to the test on a long trip thanks for watching

Approach what's best with caution. The most expensive isn't always the best. Investigate and get the facts before making the determination like what we see here by the Capt!
It would have been a better test if you tested them both in both white or in grey as they both come in multiple options
they don't have one in white cap
Was on the edge of my chair waiting to see if you would actually cut that yeti in half.....lol. I have two of them for my boat. Love the cooler, hate the weight.

@@NicsHODLN The color is a great point captain

And yeti takes advantage of that their cooler are great quality 👌
Thanks for the great tips

Might go with one of those
Hello Jose and yes there ia great other brands out there half the price and great performance Rtic is a great cooler cap. Thanks for your comment cap
look at orions. less cost than a yeti and made in the usa vs china. plus their numbering system is legit capacity size. so a 65 is a 65 qt capacity.

I wonder what happens if you paint Ozark to white 🤔
i herd from other viewers that it will work cap. just need a good plastic paint
I also think the color made a difference but the Ozark was 100° cooler inside and the yeti was 50° colder 🤷♂️

That’s true capt. You fish a lot over night for days. I don’t over night on my center console so the ozark fairs well. I would think the difference would be a lot more as far as temperature wise tho. @@OutOnTheReeflmao
Captain, yes the color makes a difference. I have bought both Yeti and Ozarks. I have painted the Ozarks with white plastic paint from Rustolium, and the Ozarks last just as long as the YETI. I don’t know why Qzarks paint their coolers grey to attract more heat. However, I can’t justify buying another YETI when, a small fix to the Ozarks fixes the issue.
great idea cap and it makes sense ,thanks for your comment it really helps us understand cap 👍
Great comment and yes the color has lot to do with but the yeti has a better closing gasket then the Ozark and that makes a huge difference, i know the yeti is overpriced by $300
The real price for the yeti should be no more then$250 but for sure i see better quality on the build of the yeti cap.👍⚓️🛥💵💵
@@misterdeeds2172 wow cap. I think you need to sell that cooler to the public so that competition can make the Yeti come down in prices

@@OutOnTheReef good video, thanks man.
@charlesmunson3232 thanks for watching cap 👍
Bro you testing a dark cooler against a white cooler of course white one is gonna be cooler
Great point but this company does not have white coolers. So this is all I have captain.
You have to cut the YETI dude. If not, your comparison has diminished credibility. Go for it!
Lol you got it cap. But i need another 500$ to buy another one ,can you spot me 500$🙏🤣please so i can afford to cut it.
@@OutOnTheReef Great answer!!! Lol😀
@@azphilip1960 lol thanks cap.😁👍⚓️
OOOOUUUUCCCCHHHH.... but informative... ty
Tha ks Louis for watching cap ⚓️
You can buy alot of ice with the $400 difference!
But not in the middle of no were wile im fishing for 4 to 5 days cap. I thought of that too😉👍💵💵
This is not a fair test as the color difference between the two coolers gives an unfair advantage to the yeti being as it is white in the Ozark is Gray. FAIL!
Very true but Ozzark dont have a white one🤣
I can buy a lot of ice for $400
@@OverlandOrange Very true, captain. But not in a remote area without stores
@@OutOnTheReef That's true. I'm hunting for a cooler for not-so-remote camping, and I appreciate the review. It solidified it for me.
@@OverlandOrange awesome cap. And keep it on the shade and will last longer
The Jeti… 😂
Cut the damn yeti to prove your one sided demonstration.
Lol idont have $500 for a new one🤣
Don't agree at all. I have done this test myself and the results were much different
The color of the cooler makes a huge difference cap.
White stays cooler
Yes i saw that is a huge difrence but why company use other colors that are terrible efficiency?
this made me cringe so bad, all i have is an old coleman from the 70's lol
sorry about that 😂 and the Coleman is a great cooler too👍
That was a "Cool" Video! LOL! 🤣👍⚓
Thank you captain Rick for watching and I almost cut the yeti lol
I think because it’s white is the difference.
Yes it makes a big difference
The YETI had a larger compartment to cool than the Ozark...it's bigger. Making the Ozark even worse even though it is gray instead of white.
Very true captain surprisingly by being bigger a did better
Still not going to spend 500$ on a cooler.
great point cap
Color dude, nothing to do with the brand.
Wow so I paid $500 just for the color
You can't run an efficient test on something that's older than the other, running a test on something that's wore out 😂😂😂 next time purchase it at the same time, then run your test.
My boss has a yeti cooler it holds ice for 1 day my Ozark trail holds ice for 3 days
My Tumbler doesn't hold ice like it use to, shit wears out. 🤦
I found out the color of the cooler makes a guge difference too👍
Jeti
Is better cap
yetis are overpriced and made in china. no thanks. Ill take an orion cooler over a yeti anyday.
But i herd they ware made in USA cap
@@OutOnTheReef thank you so much. Didn't even think of that.
@@oceandeepfishing4555 anytime cap i hope the best for your channel cap
Jeti
Yes agreed 👍
