- Something different, but lines up with my work as a sound designer.
I spend a lot of time listening to ambiances like this, I find it strangely soothing (despite the nature of the content). So I figured I'd create one myself.
I pieced this together with sounds I own, or have recorded myself. Hope you enjoy!

My father was a World War 2 combat veteran, I sometimes would wake up and find him sitting in the dark. He would say he couldn't sleep. I wonder if he was hearing this in his head. He would be 96 now, lost him in1994 . Love him and still miss him.

There is a forest in russia (Myasnoy Bor) where you still can hear the war:

I used to watch my dad play cod from my room and the TV was placed in a way so I could watch from my bed. he always played real late at night so the sounds just became a part of falling asleep every night. Now I can't fall asleep peacefully without loud ambiance, so finding this video made my night!

@Ben Wilmot Tiger reliability was good for a heavy tank at the time. Less but better tanks also uses less fuel overall so this stereotype is a fallacy.

While the Tiger I didn't drain all that many resources in combat, it was amazingly heavy and had an unreliable transmission prone to breaking down in the Eastern and African fronts. The other heavy tanks of the time were more reliable and cheaper to produce.
@@azzucks It didnt have Transmission problems in the mid and late production tigers. That was a very early on. Almost every tank has teething problems in the beginning and they were all worked out eventually and it was as reliable as a heavy tank could be expected at the time. The other heavy tanks really wernt any better reliability wise. The KV1 was prone to break downs. The Pershing which didnt reach the front until 1945 was prone to break downs. The IS2 has equal reliability to the tiger and thats not even taking into account germans has less spare parts than soviets in general. Can also. Then to add to that and further prove my point, the t34 which is considered one of the most reliable designs of the war had terrible reliability when it first reached the front in 1941. The only tank that had consistent transmission problems due to a design flaw was the Panther tank however every other design problem that could be fixed was fixed.

Probably because it's all distant. I feel relaxed hearing this too. But when the gunshots are close, they're not tranquil. It just sounds like popping sound so loud that your eardrums feel like they're gonna get nuked. And not only that, but if you don't know the source of the gunshots, and you only know they're gunshots, it's really horrifying. Trust me in the beginning of July, I hear gunshots EVERY DAY from the 2nd to the 6th, and I don't know why everyone goes Texan for 4 days straight, but it's horrifying.
Currently writing a Science Fiction Novel about a Soldier in WWII stumbling upon a giant German conspiracy involving the reanimation of the dead, genetic splicing, Die Glocke, forces beyond mortal comprehension and the existence of 'angels', combining the various conspiracy theories surrounding WWII with Lovecraftian-inspired horror and Biblical Mythology. Currently on chapter three right now, when things start to get a bit more interesting, and while not the most befitting ambience for an abandoned German bunker in Ardennes during the snowier months, this was surprisingly meditative for my work. I think I'll save this for the later chapters when the action begins to heat up.
Also, did I forget to mention that the protagonist is a Tomboy with the same kind of personality as Ash Williams from Army of Darkness?

When you're in Germany in 1945 and you realize Steiner couldn't assault the Soviet forces near Berlin, ending up in a merciless surrender
Edit: one of ya'll think I'm referring to the movie. This is also what really happened in the last days of Berlin. In April of 1945, at first, the Belorussian front created a huge Salient on their Southern front. Hitler ordered Felix Steiner to attack with the 9th army by sending the three division 9th army corps to facilitate their attack and defend Berlin at any cost.
This attempt attack resulted in being pushed back by the Northern front - Felix Steiner and the 9th army didn't facilitate their attack (aka Hitler's outrage scene) because the Panzer division (Steiner's army) weren't defensively mobilized and didn't have necessary combat weapons. This desertion of order resulted Hitler's suicide and unconditional surrender)

That was a horror story. I was never there but from what I've read it was absolute horror.
Had some relatives living there. They describe it as "Hell on Earth". Luckily they survived they the war. But the horror stays with them i can surely tell. I want to go see the death camps and mass graves to remind me of what humans are capable of doing but it would break me. Peace man, take care.

House Dracul Sound is probably too “distant” to be able to hear those, but I definitely want to create a closer more “immediate” version where voices are appropriate

Well this isn't actually an Eastern Front style. This would've likely been Italy or France. The Soviet Union's guns fired faster thsn those heard in the clip.

my great grandfather told me he remembers the constant sound of something the whole time he was in Europe until the end of the war artillery or some distant firefight or a plane always something. he was a truck driver in bastogne.
