      dude there were dozens of them (and they were good or even finger likin' good) but barely any article about them, most people still have mindset "early access/kickstarter=scam and never ever release"

      Oh right, I forgot that you can refund game after full release (out of EA), then good riddance, it won't come out, ever.
      So many games went in and out of EA and were good with way lesser budget and fame/hype it's not even funny.

    Bought the game on a whim twelve hours or so ago. Had planned on having a quick looksie before going to bed. Forgot to sleep. Did dive, and survive (so far). This is the best 20 bucks I spent on a game in at least a decade.
    And I ordinarily can't warm up to survival games.

    • @romanclark

      I did the same thing yesterday. I got the game on Epic games for free and I usually don't like survival crafting games. I started playing at 9AM. With breaks for eating and using the bathroom, I played all the way until 11:30 PM This game is awesome!!!

    • @blabla-rg7ky
      @blabla-rg7ky 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yep. Fully agree with you 2. Got it over an year ago, around 10 PM, started playing uninterrupted (except for 2 or 3 toilet breaks) then I look out the window and it's dawn. I go "oh, it's morning, I'll finish scanning the seaglide and then sleep". Fast forward 3-4 hours and I'm still playing the game xD ... I don't remember if I have eaten after those 3-4 more hours, or if I did go directly to bed, all I remember is that I have slept with my daily clothes on, and woke up dizzy 4-5 hours later and went right back to the computer to continue playing. Fucking neat!

    Unfortunately, the creative director of Subnautica seems to not be interested in providing modding tools and that's a damn shame. I can think of a bunch of improvements modders could bring to the game, like a recipe tracker that tells you exactly what you need on your hud to craft something so that you never forget, new monsters and, of course, co-op whic his something the devs aren't really interested in creating.

    • @Omar_MH

      They are interested in co-op but they said it would take way too long and they wanted to release the full game. They also said they might make another version of the game with co-op at some point though.

      Oliver Wilmot - Dane Cook is....was a stand up comic whose humor was crass and juvenile. The majority of his audience appeared to be teenagers who enjoyed toilet humor and big dick jokes. Think of a loud, dumb jock in the back of the classroom.
      The nail on Dane Cook's coffin came when his joke stealing escapades from more talented comedians came to light.

    I love how relaxed and almost meditative this game is in places and, at other times so stressful and even scary. They did a great job. I normally only play single player rpg type games so I feel like I lucked into this as my first "survival" game. I sure hope they keep co-op out of though. Such a success as a single player game. I love seeing that.

    A Co-op mode would be perfect for this
    A normal co-op where both players are in the same pod
    And a hard one where you have to find each other first

    • @blabla-rg7ky
      @blabla-rg7ky 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I honestly don't understand the craze with co-op. As someone who likes single player more than multiplayer I find Subnautica's map pretty small even for a single player. In co-op you would find the other player within 15 minutes of gameplay, since there's only 5 or 6 possible locations for the lifepod in the shallow. If the locations of both players are random generated (and they're in the safe shallows like they should be) your lifepods will be spawned at close distance to each other and you will find each other just by scouting in all directions. On this map size there really is no point in playing co-op, so why is everyone so vocal about this feature?
      Besides, when you drive the cyclops there really is not enough map to justify the presence of a cyclops, so it would be even worse if there were 2, or more of them. You would bump into each other so often that it would be no fun anymore.
      And last, but not least, the exploration (which is one of the selling points of Subnautica). Exploring the ocean is fun as long as you have plenty of space to explore, and even as a single player I have come to know all of the corners of the map after only 2 gameplays. If there were 2+ players spawned on this map at the same time the exploration area would be even smaller for each player so, again, what is so special about having a co-op? The way I see it there will be only downsides to this, but maybe you know something that I don't?!?

      @zacharyclarke4240 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i know im 3 years late but as long as you were in a voice chat with eachother finding eachother would not be difficult at all, not to mention there's no where to spawn but the shallow biome

    I think the game is kinda better off without co-op. The game is very atmospheric and makes you feel isolated and having a second player around would kinda mess that up

      I enjoy the solo aspect too, but I've played it before in the same room as a friend and our interest in what was going on in eachother's games makes me really wish it was. Subnautica is a game that shows more than it tells really, so in that aspect it's suited great for making memories with a great pal. A comment that spurred from a discussion with that friend was that if Subnautica had co-op it'd accomplish what Fallout 76 tried to do in terms of storytelling but miles better.

    It's not actually the planet's core you go into. In the game the Aurora actually crashed on a crater, which explains why you're surrounded by "The Void" which is just open ocean populated mostly by microscopic life. It's an inactive and active volcano that you go down into.

  • @DonJohn87_YT
    @DonJohn87_YT 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yeah it's a good game but after a while it gets very tedious looking for equipment fragments and blueprints. Here's what I think this game should needs:
    - Free look camera so that you can scan the environment more easily while traveling
    - A map that you gain after some hours into the game, one that will show you only the places that you've been at. It's good that you're completely lost at the beginning but after a while it gets incredibly tedious trying to remember where each biome are , what resources are in each biome, where you've yet explored etc.
    - Scanner room keeps showing items like databanks even after you've open them which makes absolutely no sense and it's incredibly annoying.
    - There no info on the range of the scanner room, and the upgrade to increase the range doesn't say anything about how much.
    - The only fish you can eat are sardine size. Why can I kill something of the size of a big tuna but not eat it? That makes no sense.
    - I get the devs doesn't want you to wreck havoc with weapons killing everything but they still should've added more and better countermeasures that causes the aggressive creatures discomfort making them go away.

      Yeah the game is good, but for me it gets a bit frustrating that such a unique game have flaws that seems rather easy to fix. The devs are going to continue working on the game though. -It would be quite amazing if the game had mod support-
      Edit: seems like there are some mods already but not many. I'm hoping the modding community are willing and able to do whatever they want to!

    I really like that this is a survival game that doesn't suck hopefully we'll see more in the future. My paralyzing fear of open ocean renders it unplayable for me, however; but I'm glad others can enjoy it.

    Hey Gggman! You should review Urban Chaos: Riot Response. It's a super good fps from the ps2 era where you play as an agent who has to save a city that's full of gangs. It has fun gameplay and cool challenges, as well as a good variety of weapons. Your videos are awesome :) Keep making great content!

      Also it was the first game made by the studio that did the Batman: Arkham games (Rocksteady), so it's interesting to see the start of a company who went on to make some pretty highly acclaimed games.

    I picked up Subnautica when I heard it had released, and spent the next five days experiencing the best and the worst it had to offer. It's beautiful, even at the lowest settings, which is good because optimisation is still hovering around PUBG levels at the moment, my 1050 and i5 4570 will hold around 40-70fps on medium, but low will stick me between 50-90. Once they polish that up it'll be a fantastic example of Early Access, as it is, I'd say it's very close to that, but not there yet.
    Also fuck the ocean.

    in my opinion the main thing that makes subnautica so good is how everything feels alive, you feel like you're actually in a living alien world with believable yet still alien creatures.
    hell i wouldn't mind if they made another game that was on a different alien planet, because just exploring these biomes and learning how things interact with eachother is really fun in and of itself.
    if they did make another then i'd say it would be a good idea to improve creature ai even further so they interact with eachother more and have more quirks, land or sea i'd be down for it.

    This video convinced me to finally get Subnautica. At the time, I was sick of all the survival games. There's just too god damn many of them. But Subnautica did something that made me enjoy the formula again, and I lost count of the many audible "what the fuck was that" that came out of my mouth as I explored deeper.
    Finally got around to building a base in the Jellyshroom cave, and it's quite serene watching the Crabsnakes go about their business from the observatory.

    • @blabla-rg7ky
      @blabla-rg7ky 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh, don't worry about the reapers. They always stay in their own place, so they won't come after you unless you get close to them, but even so, you can hear their roar from afar and once you do you can back off.
      Besides, the reapers are food for something else.... something bigger... so you really should not concern with the reapers ^_^

    The only things about this review I really disagree with is the desire for an auto swim feature as exploring the beauty of the world is part of the amazing ambience of the game and you aren’t supposed to mindlessly travel like that. Also the difficulty in finding the alien bases is very exaggerated. The game pushes you in the right direction with the various early game events and it’s up to the player to pay attention and use the info provided to figure out where to go. It’s one of the best parts of the game piecing the information you received together to pinpoint the location of the bases.

    • @Gggmanlives
      @Gggmanlives  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, but sometimes you're just swimming a couple km's back to your base, not exploring. Those are the times I wished I had it.
