How to use a throwline (water rescue equipment)

This simple video shows how to use a throwline to rescue someone from water.

How to use a throwline
If you see someone struggling in the water, call 999 immediately
Never jump in to rescue someone.
Get the throwline. Hold the end of the line in one hand and throw the bag with your other hand.
Aim your throw beyond the casualty
Shout to them to grab the line, not the bag.
Once the casualty has a firm grip on the line, stabilise yourself and pull them to safety.
Wait for assistance.

Great they show this, but I may cause a bit of controversy here, I'm a canoeist and in white water rope rescues you never wrap the rope around your hand, should the casualty be pulled by a currant you cannot release, and the rope will tighten around your fingers ( possibly causing major injuries) and you could also be dragged into the water because you could not release the rope, I know that their heart is in the right place, but it takes more than a minute on TH-cam to do it safely, Big 👍👍👍for all our emergency services, you are fantastic ❤️💕💕
