Just saw them on Wednesday in Orange County at their first show and they were so amazing! They click so well together. You can see how much fun they are all having together up on stage. There music is so great and a breath of fresh air of something new. I loved every song they played that night. I can't wait to get their album!

the melody is beautiful. davey's striking as always. the song kinda (just a little) reminds me of a flock of seagulls' "I just ran, i ran all night and dayy" vs "how i'd love, how I like to like you". both may have similiar bpms, very cool.
I think you'll find plenty of 80's influence in many recent AFI songs as well. Check out the songs Feed From The Floor, A Deep Slow Panic, & Veronica Sawyer Smokes to name a few.
I get what you mean but it also depends on what AFI era you are reffering to , for example his screams are pretty good . Moreover , i think he has quite a unique voice that you don't usually find in Punk ( Early AFI ) or just hardcore bands in general .
See I always thought the contrast of his voice was one of the things that made AFI so special. It was always great to hear him transition between the rough screams and the smoother notes. Of course a lot of his earlier singing for AFI was tougher and there was a lot more screaming.
