- Russia has rejected South Africa’s plea of not sending president Vladimir Putin to next month's BRICS summit in Johannesburg. This is according to the South African deputy president's statement to the local media. Earlier, Russian officials had informed about the uncertainty of Putin’s attendance which was because of an international criminal court warrant to arrest Putin.

The ICC acts as a formal agreement between signatories, however African led nations have on numerous occasions expressed dissatisfaction with the western led agenda. The ICC tends to only condemn countries, governments and people that go against western interest.
The inequality that exists in these agreements are being recognised and a power shift is currently happening where developing nations previously or currently exploited my the western powers are coming together to steer this great shift.
South Africa is a sovereign nation and can choose whatever it wants to do. The same way the US and UK can easily back out of unfavourable deals or agreements... So can any other sovereign nation.
