  • The Republic of Mauritius rests off the South East coast of Africa.
To most of the world Mauritius is famous for its pristine beaches, turquoise waters and wildlife that are unique to this tropical island.
But beyond the palm fringed coastlines that circle Mauritius lies an even richer story, the story of a rising financial powerhouse, a vibrant and diverse tourism sector and a master class in the fusion of the worlds’ cultures.

After being freed from slavery most people went to work for themselves. They had nothing. Most of them became fishermen. Due to this fact, a lot of people african origin have not been able to move to upper echelons. After slavery, the British went to fetch people from India to work for peanuts.

Are existing house prices increasing; and are the apartment rentals increasing in price because of the financial prosperity in Mauritius?

The average Local mauritians are not participating in these activities hun. They can't afford these. The beaches are being bought out by the hotels. Soon we will have no beaches left to us locals....we will watch tourists lounging on our beaches while it's no entry fo us. Yes big economy, polluted island, rampage poverty....beautiful for the outsider....shit for us insiders
