The 2007 Backyard Brawl Pitt Vs WVU needs a Deep Rewind episode done about it. Pat McAfee missed a 19-yard field goal (extra point distance) because the ball was spotted off-center at the hash mark and a difficult angle for the kick. The best part, WVU tried to take an intentional delay of game and move the ball back 5 yards for a better angle. Pitt declined the penalty and made him miss!

This 2007 season was my senior year of highschool and I have never been apart of a crazier season that took so many twists and turns. The upsets that happened that season, especially to number two ranked teams and even number one ranked teams lost multiple times: I think LSU was ranked number one twice and lost to Kentucky and Arkansas, Missouri was ranked number one when they lost to Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game and I think Ohio State was ranked number one, when they were upset at home by Illinois.
I always remember each week at school we would always talk about how the BCS standings were shookup week after week. No other college football season tops 2007.

Trust me. Bama’s resurgence has been anything but “the second golden age of football”. More like the dark age of football. An age where you know how every season is going to shake out before it starts. No thanks. Give me back the 2000’s when every year was full of surprises. When you never had any idea how the season would go. Where any team within the top 15 could win it all.
