Personally, I prefer rolling guard to adaptation for Volt, and here's why: 1. In some basic testing I did a while ago, adaptation didn't make a big difference against higher level enemies. I was getting shield gated at about the same speed. 2. With an energy efficient build, you don't need to worry about how much damage your shields are taking; capacitance can regen your shields very quickly while stunning almost everything around you, leading to very good survivability. 3. I found that toxin procs killed me far more often than anything else and I didn't have an answer to that problem other than to hide in operator until the effect wears off. This is just my personal opinion, and I hope it helps others find their own build. If you can't decide between adaptation and rolling guard, they both use the same polarity so just experiment and see what works for you! 😁
The passive damage also works with fishing spears. If you can't be bothered to switch between (or can't afford) all 3 PoE spears, Volt works as a stop gap. Very niche tech, still marginally useful

Honestly surprised you didn't mention the Shocking Speed augment at all for Volt's Speed ability, despite mentioning the augments for every other ability. Paired with Archon Stretch, this augment gives a good amount of energy generation, CC due to the electric procs, and it even opens crates as you zoom past them. I run my Volt with this and Nourish for a bunch of passive energy regen, and don't even need Equilibrium because of it. One bizarre interaction that's supposed to occur with Discharge is that you apparently you can cast Shock on enemies under Discharge's effect to "result in an overcharge, creating an area of effect burst emitted from the target". I dunno what this actually does though, I'll need to mess with it some time.
Thanks for explaining the Passive. I can finally understand why I thought it was bad, the Passive is simply outdated. It can be used at the beginning but it will stop being useful really fast.

You can shock the shield and it generally needs to be shocked for it to onock down enemies when used as a battering ram. If youre getting knockdowns before that, its probably your bullet jump. The pick up volt shield from the augment for allies prevents you from picking them up. Theres also a useless synergy between his 1 and 4 where enemies explode for piss poor damage if hit with his 1 under the effect of his 4

Eclipse being used is kind of criminal when volt is already so tanky and roar would be better damage or have nourish for viral to then use shock trooper and a toxin mod on your weapon for corrosive to then free up a mod slot on your weapon too
Interestingly enough. I used the Stropha with Volt in the latest EDA and it as some interesting interactions. The Gunblade firing attack seems to count for the Tennokai activation, it also benefits from the shield, as well as the melee arcanes(I think), in my case a max rank Melee Duplicate. While fighting the Demolisher Necramechs, it shred through them in like 15 to 20 seconds(solo damage), even factoring in Nourish viral procs, I feel like it shouldn't have caused as much damage as it did.(And I was running Nourish, just to be clear) So Volt can even act as a great option on arguably the toughest game mode we currently have.

Im bored by Roar, so even though it's usually the correct pick when what you want is "simple and effective," I'll mention a few more Helminth options. I really enjoy Wrathful Advance on Volt- it pairs very nicely with Speed. Although, Wrathful Advance pairs very well with a whole load of warframes, so that's hardly innovative. Gyre's subsume ability, Coil Horizon, is a more thematic option, great for grouping enemies to strike with Capacitance Discharge and take advantage of that AoE scaling factor. One thing Volt lacks, and which can greatly improve Discharge's efficiency in high-end missions, is an armor strip. My favorites are Tharros Strike, Ophanim Eyes, and Fear, though Fire Blast and Pillage are good choices too.
Volt main here. I've found that doing a "core build" isn't a good idea. Volt is definitely a frame you build for a specific purpose. I've found trying to round out stats and build for everything ends up getting me running out of energy and getting killed very quickly. So I have 3 builds I switch between for several things. I have a "speed run everything build" and a "kill everything" build. and on all of these I tend to use terrify for survivability along with the one mod this video said wasn't great. I use that with gaurdian to basically shield gate everything on my "speedrun everything build" and for nuking rely on the stun with 4 (which does actually open up enemies to finishers it's just rare and not always active. Sometimes to have to melee.) I do also highly suggest using arca titron with volt. Especially if you mod that maximising the slam capcitance and use abilities to increase the melee speed rather than directly modding it for that. with the right set up and context volt can shred anything. Except bossfights. but I've been with volt from the start and it's hard for me to use anyone else.
I run a max speed build (or rather, 3 max speed builds), and I had to subsume electric shield because I outrun it. Hope we get a QoL patch one day. I'd love to further bully enemies by going full battering ram.
I was experimenting with a build using the augment that shocks nearby enemies when you get near them. I wasn't able to make anything all that interesting but the idea is use archon stretch and the augment and you can regenerate a lot of energy that way, Maybe someone else here can find a better way to utilize it.
Came back here because I was wondering about something. If my Kuva Nukor has radiation, magnetic, corrosive, and electric damage all at the same time, how does Shock Trooper affect them? Would the augment buff only affect the electric damage alone?
I noticed you can’t electricity the shield anymore too, as I just last week returned from a two year break. However, the by default I noticed the shield now HAS the effect that would indicate you applied lighting to it, so it might just automatically add the bonus now?
well recently the shield apperently doesnt have the seperate instance thing prob a bug and might be diffrent between players oh yeah u still cant gain energy from pizzas and energy per sec effects while carrying the shield
I love Volt, but his passive is kinda ass. My take for his passive would be similar to Yareli's where if he moves he gains an additional electric damage for his weapons. Gaining 1% electric damage per meter traveled and he starts losing 1% of it every second when he stops moving for 2 seconds. This caps out at 100 and maybe he gains more electric charge when he deals electric damage both from abilities and weapons. Or Screw it, as the original electric warframe maybe his passive makes electric status effect take the refreshing stat of Heat allowing additional electric procs on enemies refresh all the electric dot duration timers. This essentially allow Volt to snowball dot damage on groups of enemies
People using Roar, Eclipse, Xata's Whisper yada yada and then there's me: ARCHGUN VOLT. Let's just say I subbed Dispensary in, kept his Speed Shield Discharge (with Capacitance in), and balanced my build around an OK amount of range, some strength, MASSIVE duration and a slight penalty to energy. Then slapped an Archgun (Mausolon, Larkspur etc), and go to town. Why be space ninja when you can be a... space super marine ninja with a big f**king gun I guess?
Oh good, I actually was looking into playing volt for real after 3k hours. This comment sounds sarcastic but I swear to everything holy it's not I've never actually built into volt
Hey, could I ask you to do an take about elementalist mods vs faction mods for status procs dps builds? I'm having the feeling that faction mods, despite not liked by many including me, are more worth of sloting on a build because the upfront damage and final multiplier on the status procs than elementalist mods that just affect the procs. Please?
@TheKengineer Could you do a video about rolling guard I never really understood why someone would want to use it when there other more effective means i.e. defy, aviator, eclispe, some companion mods, and vasca kavat?
@noahedenborg I see where people use it but is it actually useful when there are other means. The status cleanse is useful though but again it's just such a weird mod to use in practice with warframe's movement system thats why I want someone to do a very constructive breakdown of it's uses.
I wonder what a good gun (SP viable) would be to run in conjunction with Volt. I have a Saryn Prime build where alongside Toxic Lash and held Spores, allows my Torid Incarnon to truly shine with an incredible damage boost and synergy with viral and toxin.
@@lookalike4805 Thats true! I'm just starting out on getting SP viable stuff so I'm not really sure what to acquire. I've been having fun wrecking house on Saryn P with Torid Incarnon but she isnt viable for some stuff and i want to expand my toolkit for more tools. AoE weapons are so fun to play with
I have a question: I'm a Kullervo main and i was wondering if I put 5 violet archon shards for mele crit dmg (I dont see any better options/ other buffs dont appear to be better ) will it be better to ignore organ shatter on mele and go with primed preasure point and condition overload or are deminishing returns worse on base than critical dmg?
since u have a lot of CC from ur 1 keep organ shatter and PPP CO wont be that useful when playing kullervo but go test both and see which i like using more
There's an argument to be made that Volt is the Best Warframe In the Game.... However one should ignore such Arguments and play who they Like. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
While it is fine showing the build YOU are currently using, it is NOT a starter frame; it is a Prime frame. That makes pretty much the entire video irrelevant to the initial target audience: the new player. It would have been much better, in my opinion, to do the video with an actual regular Volt frame if that is what the title of the video implies is happening. Oh, and not using a bunch of Mods that a new player simply won't have access to when the frame hits 30.
@@Lando2x._ True for most 'frames. Not true for weapons. In any case, as a video targeted towards beginners, they would not know that. In addition, it does not address the issue of using advanced (for beginners) Mods. So, I think the main point still stands: This video is not good for beginners.
Im sorry but his only use is his shield for eidolons there is nothing endgame about him. Usually i agree with your vids but I wholeheartedly disagree with this entire video

Sometimes to have to melee.)
I do also highly suggest using arca titron with volt. Especially if you mod that maximising the slam capcitance and use abilities to increase the melee speed rather than directly modding it for that.
with the right set up and context volt can shred anything. Except bossfights. but I've been with volt from the start and it's hard for me to use anyone else.
My build was insane speed coupled with fast energy regen and spamming the 4 ability as I ran up and down hallways like the flash
"curse titania"
10/10
I run a max speed build (or rather, 3 max speed builds), and I had to subsume electric shield because I outrun it. Hope we get a QoL patch one day. I'd love to further bully enemies by going full battering ram.
Thank you.
I was experimenting with a build using the augment that shocks nearby enemies when you get near them. I wasn't able to make anything all that interesting but the idea is use archon stretch and the augment and you can regenerate a lot of energy that way, Maybe someone else here can find a better way to utilize it.
nice builds
Came back here because I was wondering about something. If my Kuva Nukor has radiation, magnetic, corrosive, and electric damage all at the same time, how does Shock Trooper affect them? Would the augment buff only affect the electric damage alone?
16:53 volt is good for speedrunning profit taker too
I noticed you can’t electricity the shield anymore too, as I just last week returned from a two year break. However, the by default I noticed the shield now HAS the effect that would indicate you applied lighting to it, so it might just automatically add the bonus now?
Fell on leggo
Can you do mag next?
Electric boy
Yesss i love volt
Kengineer 👍
well recently
the shield apperently doesnt have the seperate instance thing prob a bug and might be diffrent between players
oh yeah u still cant gain energy from pizzas and energy per sec effects while carrying the shield
I need a trinity brake down video
Probably after her rework
People using Roar, Eclipse, Xata's Whisper yada yada and then there's me: ARCHGUN VOLT.
Let's just say I subbed Dispensary in, kept his Speed Shield Discharge (with Capacitance in), and balanced my build around an OK amount of range, some strength, MASSIVE duration and a slight penalty to energy.
Then slapped an Archgun (Mausolon, Larkspur etc), and go to town.
Why be space ninja when you can be a... space super marine ninja with a big f**king gun I guess?
As a new Tenno that was fascinating and made very little sense 😂
Oh good, I actually was looking into playing volt for real after 3k hours. This comment sounds sarcastic but I swear to everything holy it's not I've never actually built into volt
I love the guide and the explanations and newbie builds. But i will always choose Mag, sorry.
Can we have video about warframe that buff operator (volt, jade, dante, ???)
Please?
well elementalsit mods are like eclipse
a final multiplier and it comes after faction
plus their other stats on their mods and nice to have sometimes
@TheKengineer Could you do a video about rolling guard I never really understood why someone would want to use it when there other more effective means i.e. defy, aviator, eclispe, some companion mods, and vasca kavat?
its mainly used when u go so far in a mission where dr wont cut it
plus it cleanses you its nice to have
@noahedenborg I see where people use it but is it actually useful when there are other means. The status cleanse is useful though but again it's just such a weird mod to use in practice with warframe's movement system thats why I want someone to do a very constructive breakdown of it's uses.
How did you change the enemy's colour ? ( they look like someone used Bladestorm )
Enemy highlighting is an accessibility setting. You can search the settings for "highlight" to bring it up and set your preferred colour.
finally
Is the sound kinda weird in this video?
I wonder what a good gun (SP viable) would be to run in conjunction with Volt. I have a Saryn Prime build where alongside Toxic Lash and held Spores, allows my Torid Incarnon to truly shine with an incredible damage boost and synergy with viral and toxin.
Maybe the Tenet Arca Plasmor, or some other super good electric weapon.
Anything that Crits...
Volt has nothing that Benefits from a weapon Specifically dealing Electricity Damage. 👀
AoE weapons are so fun to play with
Nice
I have a question: I'm a Kullervo main and i was wondering if I put 5 violet archon shards for mele crit dmg (I dont see any better options/ other buffs dont appear to be better ) will it be better to ignore organ shatter on mele and go with primed preasure point and condition overload or are deminishing returns worse on base than critical dmg?
since u have a lot of CC from ur 1 keep organ shatter and PPP
CO wont be that useful when playing kullervo
but go test both and see which i like using more
@@noahedenborg4221 ok thanks for the tip
So who are you and what have you done with Thekengineer? You may be wondering how I figured you out. It was easy. You recommended eclipse.
I recommend Eclipse, I don't recommend Eclipse. Eternalism.
There's an argument to be made that Volt is the Best Warframe In the Game....
However one should ignore such Arguments and play who they Like. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
How do you have the enemies glowing red? I need that.
in the option, something like "highlight the enemys" (i have the game in french so don't know the exact English word)
@@paulamblard3836 THank you soooo much
What!? Aren't starter frames Excalibur, Mag amd Loki? God I feel old now like this joke.
Yeah man, I think that changed with Duviri. I think DE’s thought was that Loki can be a difficult frame for new players that are new to looter RPG’s
@@stephenlonon4605 volt has been the starter for years, loki was gone before the time of the dinosaurs
Volt is definitely in my opinion the best frame in the game better then any other by miles but I’m a gauss main
Is Gyre's submsume ability good on Volt?
u honestly have better grouping options aka cordon from nautilus
mainly cus coil horizon has physics
@@noahedenborg4221 Ty
never go titania. other frame will feel damn slow after that.............
volt players annoying everyone with their speed buff for 11 years:
Dante existing for a week and getting nerfed bc people hate overguard:
Titania thermal sunder spotted opinion ignored
But I thought everyone wants to go fast??
If you read this, swap Augur Reach for Redirection. Double down on that shield pool
Prime variants have literally zero strength buffs outside of the slight increases to health, they’re purely fashion statements in all honesty
@@Lando2x._ True for most 'frames. Not true for weapons. In any case, as a video targeted towards beginners, they would not know that. In addition, it does not address the issue of using advanced (for beginners) Mods. So, I think the main point still stands: This video is not good for beginners.
Warframe slavery
Im sorry but his only use is his shield for eidolons there is nothing endgame about him. Usually i agree with your vids but I wholeheartedly disagree with this entire video
EHEM
influence
like hes literally one of the best influence users
big electric dmg melee attack speed and speed and shield so u dont take dmg while runnin towards the enemy
like bro think before thyn type
@@noahedenborg4221 maybe it’s you who should think
1. Shock trooper is available in helminth so an influence set up would be stronger on rhino kullervo etc.
2. His shield sucks the small shield only cover his front while u have to stay 1 place for the big shield.
3. U brought up influence when the best influence melee is xoris and that thing needs heavy wind up speed not freakin atk speed. Not to mention his shield crit bonus doesnt work on melee either.
So all the points u brought up are meaningless. Again maybe it’s you who should think
@@turkeykent3719 actually
Xoris is not the strongest influence melee
That's nsmi solo
And that's not coming from me
You know we low on content when the kengineer is doing reviews on existing frames!
Out of curiosity, how would you have me review a frame that doesn't exist?
@@TheKengineer Although I'm sure you have endless projects at this point because of how wide the game is, I think it would be really interesting to see how you would go about designing a Warframe of your own if you had the opportunity
@@SquishyBoi5463 In my opinion, information on the Warframes is far more complicated and important than the weapons and other in game systems. I think it's pretty important that these videos exist for everyone, especially since we have over 50 unique warframes at this point. There's been a lot of changes to many of them and there's an ever shifting list of mods and game mechanics that make these guides valuable
All frames are existing, even the ones in concept art. I'm not sure you even understand the meaning of the word existing.

Had no idea capacitance was actually good. Shield gating with him with brief respite made me hate him (and most frames that rely on that) so this'll help thanks
