BTS is composed of three rappers (RM, the leader; Suga derived from Shooting Guard aka Agust-D, i.e. Daegu Town, his hometown, plus Suga backwards; and J-Hope) and four vocalists (Jin, Jimin, V, and Jungkook). The original concept was for them to be a hip-hop idol group, but then they evolved. They are currently on hiatus serving in the military as others have pointed out. Before their enlistment they put out solo albums. Just like BTS covers a wide range of genres, the solo projects are also quite different as it allows the members to put their own tastes in music first. All members are multi-talented and have been involved in song writing and producing. Currently four members of BTS are full members of KOMCA (Suga 2018; RM and J-hope 2020, Jungkook 2024) For the rap line, the cyphers 1-4 or Ddaeng are a good starting point.
