From wikipedia -> Zhang Yujun and Geng Jinping were executed on 24 November 2009. Zhang Yujun (alias Zhang Haitao), a former dairy farmer from Hebei, produced more than 600 tons of a "protein powder" mixture of melamine and maltodextrin from September 2007 to August 2008. He and eight other traders, dairy farm owners and milk purchasers who bought the powder from him were arrested in early October
In the US the Death Penalty offenses once included grand theft and rape, but is now limited to 1st degree (premeditated) murder, usually with some special circumstances like extreme cruelty or murder for hire and it only is used in some States. It also depends on the leadership. Gov. Newsom of California commuted all death penalty cases, even though California reaffirmed the Death penalty in a referendum in 2016. Included in the commutations was "The Tool Box Killer" who got his name as a serial killer who tortured teenage girls to death using hammers, pliers and screw drivers. Under Federal law, Obama was not pursuing executions, but Trump's Dept. of Justice is. However, since a prisoner, once given a death sentence is guaranteed to be heard at every appellate level including the US Supreme Court, a prisoner on Death Row is more likely to die of extreme old age than of lethal injection (unless it is for compassionate euthanasia). My understanding of the Death Penalty in China is that it is carried out within days or weeks, a few months at most, and any appeal to a higher authority is unlikely.
I lived in Japan where executions are rare, but I thought it was interesting how the vast majority of people were in favour regardless of age, wheras in England its skewed towards older people
I am sitting here in Newfoundland Canada. Watching instead of traveling due to covid. Bemoaning my fate in retirement. Thanks for reminding how nice it is here.
Great video, guys. Interesting thing to note is that in many ways the absence of death penalty in the east European countries, like Ukraine and Russia - where from time to time support for capital punishment exceeded the opposition - might be attributed to such requirement for the membership in the Council of Europe (Belarus for example is not a council member, because it exercise capital punishment yearly). Also, can I ask do you plan doing videos on the Chinese institutional parties? Obviously these are puppets of the CCP and they are used to make the political system look democratic, but still it's interesting are there any other reasons why the communists allowed other parties to participate in their system. It's such a weird thing, even hokey Kuomintang has its seats in the National People's Congress
I hope you're staying safe out there SerpentZA and C-Milk. No doubt in my mind that the Chinese government is watching your videos and who knows what they may want to do about it. Stay safe guys
I was terrified entering China with my medications that were correctly endorse by my Doctor. My pain medications were sufficient for six weeks with a lot of opioids. I contacted the Embassy twice with no reply before leaving home. When we arrived at midnight in Beijing, there were no customs inspections. As I was taking my meds into the country, I had to also get them out on leaving. Unless I got them aporoved, I had a problem. So dumb or not, I stood in customs, with no officers around, saying I have something to declare. Finally someone attended and I go cleared. While I was waiting a line many people built up behind me. Everyone else had just been walking straight through to the exit.
As a Canadian, I'm sure enough that is a potential death sentence enough that I would not travel to China. Haven't been able to since the Huawei exec thing. For any reason. It's been iffy before, but now it's pretty clear cut.
Yeah, that always pisses me off. When it first started, I used to downvote videos that didn't have long-enough leadouts to push that crap out of the substantive content; but I figured it's really out of the creators' control, and I shouldn't penalize them.
What?! Locked up for weed in my hair samples?! I eat cannabutter. I must be .2% cannabis total. :/ The land of hemp and mulberry was a long time ago, i guess. We're late to the party.
I believe in the death penalty for let's say, a guy who unrepentantly rips the heads off toddlers as a hobby. Letting someone like that walk free is far more evil than killing them, and keeping them locked up at taxpayer expense is an insult to law-abiding people everywhere. People should suffer as their victims did. It isn't about right and wrong, it's about sending a message so that people don't think they can just do whatever awful thing they want and get free room and board. Granted, I don't trust China or most governments to only execute those kinds of people. But I am someone who had a friend raped and murdered by a guy who also tried to kill me because I didn't let him bully me. Hell, he couldn't even stop committing crimes when he was trying to escape to Canada, he got arrested in Canada for breaking into several homes and robbing people. He has no remorse, and thanks to Canada putting pressure on the US NOT to give him the death penalty, he'll be getting out of jail soon, if he isn't out already. Some poor girl is going to die again. because TJ is not in the ground where he belongs.
Agreed. The fact that there continues to be criminals to execute is evidence that it doesn't really solve anything. It ends up just being a form of revenge in the end.
Anyway, some persons who committed appalling crimes deserve to be executed. But execution must not be violent. Maybe... to keep an inmate all his life in a small room is heavier punishment, but it's a waste of money supporting terrorist or maniac's life in a prison. They won't change. What the point of it? Prison must change people for the better.

Of course, but since China's government is notorious for even covering things up among each other to hide blame both internationally and to cover themselves from their superiors, you can never be sure if a crime was actually real or not
(7:11) Cowardice was actually a capital offence in the British army during World War One. If you bottled it and refused to *_"go over the top,"_* there was a very high likelihood that you would later face a firing squad. That's if your sergeant didn't shoot you there and then, on the spot. >
@@Lobsterwithinternet it wasn't napoleonic tactics, they just didn't have any other way of attacking entrenched positions. Attacks would often succeed, at a heavy cost, the problem was that they couldn't bring up the logistics to pursue the enemy and exploit breaks in the line before the inevitable counter attack. Low level tactics evolved and reduced the death toll somewhat, but it was more about the decelopments on the operational level and technology that broke the deadlock. Generals of the day knew they were sending men into a meat grinder, the just didn't have any alternatives until tanks and trucks showed up in large numbers.
It's been awhile, fellas. Always enjoy your posts - so full of information in a unique presentation . A dynamic team abroad. Well done. But C-Milk, that gauge on your bike is whack!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like the origin of these videos was to promote China by showing the landscapes, scenery, etc, and just discuss the nation and how it is to live there. The more recent videos the vibe is that riding around inconspicuously was the only way to actually discuss the situation there. Glad you both are safe and in the west again
Man I would get out of there as soon as I could with the number of things that can get you killed. Not to mention concern over potentially being blamed for whatever even though innocent.
Guys, I have to disappoint you - the death penalty does _not_ deter criminals, a high probability of getting caught does. So if you get 20 years for murder, but a 100% certainty that you _will_ get those 20 years … you wouldn't kill anybody. If the penalty is death, but the chance for you to get away with it is even only 30%, you'd probably do it. So, contrary to “public opinion”, harsh sentences don't do anything, working law enforcement and judicial systems do. The system employed in most European countries is quite rational.
As far as the death penalty goes, I think that life in prison without the possibility of parole is a much worse option for the convicted. Once someone's dead, they're essentially free. But every day they are locked up at night they are reminded that _that_ is their fate, til the very end. Til they expire. I mean, just look at the numbers who commit suicide after being given a whole life sentence. No. Death sentence is easy. Life without parole is a real, proper punishment that lasts, literally, a lifetime. I also think the death penalty is more about vengeance for a lot of people, than a deterrent. In fact it's been proven that the death penalty is not much of a deterrent when you compare homicide rates side by side of countries that do and do not have capital punishment. >
There is one weird law in China, originally meant to tackle opium dens: If you own or rent the place where OTHERS consume drugs in, you are seriously punished. Not the death penalty, but it will get you several years in prison. And this is quite strictly enforced. So if friends smoke THEIR OWN weed in your hotel room: Boy, you can be in deeeep trouble! And because you never expect that to be illegal you will have admitted everything before you ever see a lawyer.

I lived in Japan where executions are rare, but I thought it was interesting how the vast majority of people were in favour regardless of age, wheras in England its skewed towards older people
Old proverb, the older a civilization gets the deeper the rabbit hole gets. China is one of the world's four ancient civilizations.
Winston, I hear you say “love you all the same” every now and then. Did you get that from your dad? It’s very endearing.
The last trucking company that I worked for will do a hair folical test before they hire you. This is the largest company here in the UNITED STATES.
Sooooo the burning question is, do you get the death penalty for drinking and driving? Great tease, you two!
youtube just recommended this and it has such a beautiful charm. i love this video it conveys everything so real but its still is somewhat surreal
You guys are awesome keep it al up!
As a Canadian, I'm sure enough that is a potential death sentence enough that I would not travel to China. Haven't been able to since the Huawei exec thing. For any reason. It's been iffy before, but now it's pretty clear cut.
11:54 The damn ads for the next video covered the text. I'm guessing Sri Lanka due to the pun lol
Yeah, that always pisses me off. When it first started, I used to downvote videos that didn't have long-enough leadouts to push that crap out of the substantive content; but I figured it's really out of the creators' control, and I shouldn't penalize them.
I loved being a 12 years old at liberty junior high school 24/7!!!
That was a Sri Lankan diplomatic car by the look's of the flag on it.
Thanks for the new video!!!

9:14 The guy holding the shovel is looking at you guys like he wants to hit you with it
I believe in the death penalty for let's say, a guy who unrepentantly rips the heads off toddlers as a hobby.
Worthless wips is my favotite chanal you guys make.
I’m actually first
Thanks for all the videos on China, they are really interesting🖤
People who comment “first” would be executed in China
Glad I'm not first. 😳

Death Penalty doesn't really work as a deterrent
Agreed. The fact that there continues to be criminals to execute is evidence that it doesn't really solve anything. It ends up just being a form of revenge in the end.
I disagree. People like pedophiles deserve the death penalty.
You have no idea because you can't know how many crimes didn't happen.

I an subscriber from china uncensored, grate videos keep them up
I think the death penalty is fine -- with a higher standard of proof, sort of like "beyond an UNreasonable doubt." An example: Major Hassan who killed the soldiers at Fort Hood -- death penalty.

That's a terrible thing.
Gotta remember this was the same war they used Napoleonic tactics against modern weaponry.
So don't be too hard on them.

Awesome video 👍I miss Vietnam,
you’re a very fortunate guy
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like the origin of these videos was to promote China by showing the landscapes, scenery, etc, and just discuss the nation and how it is to live there. The more recent videos the vibe is that riding around inconspicuously was the only way to actually discuss the situation there. Glad you both are safe and in the west again
Thanks for the ride!!👍
Too funny, that 'magic bracelet' ad played during your video.
The "MAY BAT" shield in the beginning made me giggle hehe
How many cc are your bikes and what brand are they ? Are they dependable ?
Technically cowardice in battle can get you the death penalty in a lot of western countries, they're just way less likely to actually do it.
If it gets one of your unit companions or your entire unit killed... There's gonna a severe repercussion.
Have either of you been in a motorcycle accident in China or elsewhere?
No, because you would get the death penalty.

Cool video. The flag is from Sri Lanka. One of two flags that have swords on them, actually. Good pub quiz question. Cheers.
That was a Sri Lanka flag on that political car if anyone wanted to know.
So how do they still have episodes to release?
Nice vid!
