It's the reason they decided to start producing completely on their own with _9._ They were getting tired of the constant comparisons, the suggestions from some that "Kevin is the real genius behind their work", and being viewed as an inconsequential side-project of Tame Impala. Regardless of how close they are with him, that's really got to be grating. I'm glad they struck out on their own as _9_ and _Stung!_ are among the best albums they've ever recorded, but it seems that most music publications still can't help but mention Tame in the first paragraph of their reviews for Pond.
Nick seems like such a legit cool guy. I _love_ the direction they took on The Weather. That album honestly made me love them _more_ than Tame Impala. The songs Sweep Me Off My Feet, 30000 Megatons, and The Weather are all damn near perfect. Modern pop at it's best. I'm still kinda iffy on Tasmania though....need to give it a few more listens before I make up my mind.

_MIFLSA_ is absolutely incredible, but I'd definitely say _The Weather_ is where they truly hit their stride. Everything since then -- _Tasmania,_ _9,_ and _Stung!_ -- has been perfect imho.
make an album without kev. i think it will be better. get rid of the cages around your soul and music mate. kev's great but i think working with him limits your potential.
@@dcmushi and studio lights are bright af, i hate them as well lol. He looks so much clearer than years ago tbh, he definitely was heavy into drugs back then, prob still is but seems way more healthy and clear

Couldn’t agree with you more. However, Tasmania is a banging album. Give it some time. It is right in the money.
I feel you on The Weather, but Tasmania is really special too. Selene is an all time fav.
