    The install of hood stack components went much smoother than the removal of the EGR, ASV, and DPF. Although - Mounting the hood stack is going to be a two person job as someone is going to have to hold it from the bottom in order to get the clamp on at the flange coming off of the turbo.
    The code that was thrown was a code P2101 code, this code has been resolved and another video is going to be released on how we did that!
    Overall, I am enjoying the hood stack A LOT. It is turning a lot of heads and from the short amount of time between doing the work and posting the videos I have already had multiple people stop me in parking lots asking me to start the car or what engine was in it, etc. I am loving it, I had no idea what I was missing. Although - this car is 100% going to need some engine mounts soon as I can now see how much movement the engine has

    What did you do to get the check engine light off in the globe plug to stop flashing

      There is an update video that I put out, but Malone (Tunezilla) initially didn’t tune out the ASV! So the check engine light was on for it. No big deal and they got it settled quick

    I'm thinking of doing the same hood stack and tone to my TDI but I am curious about what it has done to your fuel economy? Right now I get 35-45mpg, and I am worried it'll drastically degrease fuel economy.

If it is too loud make sure to give my other video a watch I threw a "muffler" in it to make it a little more manageable on the highway, here is the link: th-cam.com/video/nqgqxF3mfiE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qvO1lSuhyRTzkj4m

    Do you get fumes inside the vehicle alot. Thought about doing it but the dump is right at the fresh air inlet to the cab and figured the exhaust would blow in the window all the time if windows were down.

    How did you go about getting that glow plug light to stop blinking? TUNEZILLA told me that they cannot tune out the primary EGT sensor and that is what’s causing it. They told me to install it into the hood stack pipe but I don’t really want to cut into it. How did you fix yours?

      @NRCThings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jake, thanks for the comment! Make sure to give us a like on the video and subscribe to the channel. I am not going to lie, the car is pretty loud with just the stack. I drive 100 miles round trip to work and it got a little annoying. Although - I have already found a solution. I ordered a baffle type of muffler insert to put into the stack. I have a video in the works on that, but have had no time to edit here lately. It makes it much more manageable. Comparing it to my straight piped 6.7, it is louder. That is due to the short run of exhaust, but it was expected

    What size is the vband off the back of the turbo?

    • @nissangeek
      @nissangeek ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm at the same place. I've been fussing with the vband for hours, it seems to be a hair to small. I have the bolt almost all the way threaded out but it won't pull tight enough to slip down in it's notch. I wonder if Darkside sent me the wrong part.

    • @nissangeek

      I might just run to the parts store and get a longer bolt...

    • @drewdewey9202
      @drewdewey9202 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its not a run of the mill vband, its a 2.5"-sh sized marmon vband. I wanted to know before tearing into the exhaust but went ahead and gutted the dpf instead of trying to make my own. Alot of work, but worth it.

    • @NRCThings
      @NRCThings  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a two person job. Thread it all the way out and get somebody to hold the stack from the bottom. It is TOUGH. I tried to do it by myself and fought it for two hours with no luck

    • @NRCThings
      @NRCThings  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also - proper size is 75mm. At least that is what is the direct replacement. The VW part number is 1K0 253 725 B. That is right below 3"

    Was the DPR and EGR removed and the block off plate installed on the other end of the EGR pipe that goes to that intake flap right there near the intake manifold in the front? Otherwise if you have hot exhaust gas going to your blockoff plate thats not a good thing to trap it all in the DPF/EGR and can cause serious problems.

    Do you need to Install a block off plate for the pipe that was removed along with the dpf?

    • @NRCThings
      @NRCThings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man thanks for the comment. Which pipe are you talking about? The stack replaces all of the DPF components, and the one block off plate I installed was the only one needed. I hope that helps! The “pipe” that needs the block off plate is the cross over tube that runs from the manifold to the EGR

    • @malakimetcalf03
      @malakimetcalf03 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NRCThings I was talking about the egr cooler pipe I believe. The one from the egr valve to the back of the engine. I put the blank on the pipe that connected to the egr. Wasn't sure if I need to blank off the hole that's on the back of the engine, from when I took the dpf and what not out.

    • @NRCThings
      @NRCThings  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@malakimetcalf03 if you go to my removal video it may show the pipe you’re talking about. If you’re removing the cooler completely you won’t have any other block off plates other than the one for the cross over tube that runs from the drivers side of the manifold around the front to the EGR valve. We may be talking about the same one

      Hey man! Thanks for the comment, make sure to like and subscribe to the channel! My advice - measure 15 times and cut once. It’s a daunting task but it isn’t impossible. My stack had some room to rotate (forward toward engine, back towards firewall). When doing your measurements have it dead nuts centered so if you’re off on either direction you can rotate on the turbo flange. Keep in mind, when the hood closes all of the way the stack moves back towards the firewall. I’ll be it moves every bit of 1/4”. Do it with the same size hole saw I did and send it. Good luck buddy! Let me know how it goes
