That City game, bar the mistake he made, he actually helped United to win. Everyone was losing their heads, yet Scholes soon settled into the old routine and just controlled the game from midfield. I think his pass completion rate was 97% and it remained in the 90s all season. If United had won the league - and remember it only came down to goal difference - he'd have been a massive part in that. He was the Football Writers 3rd best Player of the Season and that was on the basis of only a few months' performances! Legend.

Very accurate, very few mistake, zero stupid risk taken. He was good in interceptions, sometimes hard on the man, but his passing game was simply outstanding.
