Mahoraga was almost summoned a couple of times in season 1 if you can recall. That's why sukuna became interested in megumi. And yes toji did go after the strongest, because at the time megumi had the most cursed energy. Finally, Megumi is indeed strong and has immense potential, he just doesn't know how to bring out his best, gojo told him the same thing back in season one
Nah that’s the thing, they do… their previous episodes were normal, but this one weirdly keeps swapping between blu-ray shots and tv version shots. It’s really odd… and it includes a couple extra scenes but only from the start, not any of the longer cuts… this is such a strange thing, if the person who made this copy had access to the blu-ray, why did they do this chop-shop job on it all over the place instead of just post the blu-ray?
@@SojuAndWaterlong story short, in Japan they have a law against fast flashing lights on tv, all throughout season 2 they had to blur and dimm the light on almost every episode. That + they had problems with time constraint during the release of season 2 so what happened is that ep17 ended up not being their full vision they wanted so instead they made it so their blursy version of season 2 has no blur no dimm light but also for ep 17 specifically they added a bunch of new scenes which makes this episode way better
So Toji did choose the strongest (Megumi) he didn’t know it was his child he only realized it after he had stabbed Megumi up close, the reason Megumi is dying is because he was attacked right after his fight with Toji…out of the whole Group Toji saw Megumi was the only one with a Domain (the top jujutsu move)
So mahoraga was almost summoned a few times in the series if you go back and watch. The first time Itadori transformed and the 2nd time that Itadori transformed and faught Megumi. Each Shikigami he summons has to be defeated but Megumi himself in order to control it. Mahoraga was never defeated by a user of the 10 shadows. You are able to have others sorceress help defeat mahoraga if you need but if you do have help it nullifies the victory. Thus being able to summon Mahoraga again if needed to attempt the subjugation again. He has to solo the subjugation in order to have control of Mahoraga. It is not guaranteed that Megumi dies when he summons Mahoraga. He just did it out of desperation this time he knew that “sword hand guy” would be dragged into the ritual and have to fight Mahoraga. Sukuna stepped in and nullified the ritual so Megumi wouldn’t die by defeating Mahoraga. If sword hand guy died than Megumi would have died and that’s why Sukuna grabbed him before he got crushed by Mahoraga.
You need to understand that Megumi just broke into and out of a Domain expansion (almost impossible) and then he fought and survived against the physically strongest character in the verse….and then he got gashed across his back. Megumi is far stronger than Nanami and it’s truly not close. This show did a good job making people believe Nanami is some over powered strong character when in reality he’s arguably one of the weakest 1st grade sorcerers.
I haven't read the manga but I remember having the same theory about the Toji/Magumi thing. In the fight, Toji seems to be more on a defensive mode rather than straight up attacking relentlessly like he was doing it againt Dagon. I thought maybe Toji was testing his son rather than fighting him.
Nice reaction, yeah Megumi needs to tame each Shikigami before being able to control it, by killing it in a subjugation ritual(except the Devine dogs they come with the technique). So he needs to get stronger before being able to progress to next one. He knew he wasn’t strong enough to tame Mahoraga yet so he uses it as a last resort.
The subjugation ritual put megumi in between life and death till the end of the ritual. Mahoraga kills everyone participating in the ritual. Sukuna killing mahoraga saved megumi from the ritual
Mahoraga being summoned for the subjugation ritual meant it hasn't been tamed yet. So megumi dragged Haruta into the ritual because Megumi was going to die so he wanted to take him out as well.
@SojuAndWater yes. The Shikigami of the Ten Shadows technique can be summoned as many times as needed to subjugate it. But for Megumi to gain control over it he has to destroy it by himself. Then when he summons it again he can control it. Once tamed though, if it gets destroyed again he can no longer summon it.
right about mahoragas adaptation, it's not that sukuna was so strong that mahoraga couldn't adapt rather mahoraga was adapting to sukunas slices that whole fight and when sukuna did his domain expansion he could still not kill mahoraga cause it had adapted to his slices so he resorted to the fire arrow he used against jogo.
At the moment when Toji chose Megumi everyone else was hurt severely. The old man from the Zenin clan was very strong, but his hand was gone. Nanami was bleeding from that death swarm attack. Megumi was fresh and he was not attacked at all during the fight with Dagon. Also, this guy launched a surprise attack on Megumi right after a very unusual battle with Toji. On the other hand, Nanami was searching for this vermin. So, there are a lot of other factors at play.

Seeing how Sukuna destroyed Itadori's mentality was truly evil. He was truly a real villain.
So much destruction...
its called "The Shibuya Incident" for a reason....
at 2:50 megumi was the strongest because nanami maki and nabito were drained from being in the domain that’s why
And he is stronger than Nanami normally too. Imo his domain and versatility are big points

Toji going after Megumi after Dagon was because Megumi has a Domain Expansion. That guaranteed hit effect is extremely strong.
