- They're charismatic and cute, but the tree frogs that live in Cusuco National Park in Honduras are being decimated by chytrid fungus. The fungus has spread worldwide, causing hundreds of amphibian species to become endangered or even extinct. Biologist and National Geographic explorer Jonathan Kolby has set up HARCC, the Honduras Amphibian Rescue and Conservation Center, to study and treat these frogs. Some of the species are found nowhere else on Earth.

As a child I used to collect frogs and play house with them. Both me and my twin were referred to as "children with their noses in the grass". We love frogs, this just breaks my heart. I hope they will be able to save and I'll try donating to those who are trying to save them
Such quintessential little critters! It's definitely awful that they have to be so critically endangered. I have a lot of respect for what HARCC is doing to help these animals - they are truly amazing people.
Thank you so much!
Who doesn't like frogs?!! Honestly
jippalippa We need more batrachologists to document biodiversity
Frogs are cool
Save the frogs now? XD
Thank you.
Gatekeepers of our diverse ecosystems, alongside bees...👍🐸
Thank you for all you are doing to help save frogs.
Thank you so much Susan!
I love frogs they're so adorable
Frogs are my favorite animal I cried watching this 😭🐸❤️🩹💔💚
I watched this with my second graders today. The video generated an interesting discussion and helped the kids come up with some cool ideas. Thank you!
Sadly we still have no clue how to combat BD(and its salamander counterpart) on a global scale. The mass extinction of amphibians is not a issue talked about at ecological conventons, and without support a majority of endangered and critically endangered species will without a doubt dissappear.
But hey we saved the ecologically extinct panda so it's all good right?
You're right! These issues are incredibly complex and definitely need greater attention.
But pandas and frogs are very different.
Oh my I am in love! 💚🐸💚
Fascinating creatures 🐸 🍃
save the froggies!! :-(
Frogs are awesome and they are definitely beautiful! 💙🐸💛 just a few years ago there would be at least 5-10 on each of the windows at our house during summer nights.. now there is about 2 to 3 on each window, sometimes none at all. That worries me.
..and these are the Green tree frogs here in America. I'm not seeing as many of them, each year there's less.
🐸
I love frogs ❤❤ my red-eyed tree frog came up the tank to listen to me talk. He was my best friend. Super cute, and I want to go into herpetology conservation to help them
I was very fortunate to have lived in Cusuco for over a year and working on the park for 3 years. I worked on Environmental education and ecotourism. Some of my best days of my life were spent exploring looking for nature trails and keeping a bird list. Bless you HARCC. Is there any way that I could get my Bio class doing research for you guys from a classroom in Illinois?
I love frogs. I used to have poison dart frogs, and sold them to someone else due to my limited time to care for them.
You all are doing a great job. Keep it up....
so cute frogs :)
frogs are nice, they look nice, they sound like funny.
I LOVE FROGS AHHHHHHH
Natural selection is incredible
Thank you for the compliments.
So true frogs are very interesting
Any success yet, Jonathan? The Center looks so well planned! I can see donations are well used.
Well done Jonathan and everybody !
I love frogs 🐸 so sad that many might go extinct 😭
cute and so tiny
wow, this is interesting
I love frogs, save them!
Thanks
Love frog
ima spread this video all over animal amino
I am interested in going into conservation biology does anyone know what it is like in that field and how hard it is to get a job in it
I want to go into herpetology conservation mainly. I'm not entirely sure what it all includes, but I do know that if you are passionate, and DO want to save a species, that's basically all you need to travel heights, go into danger zones, and combat poachers and diseases to save them. This all includes vaccinations, travel money needed, places to stay (usually provided), and a heart of gold that tells you that even 3,000 miles of family will be worth saving an animal.
As far as the jobs, you collect offspring (like turtle eggs), take blood samples, swabs, anything that could tell you about any sort of illness, and how to counteract it. As well as poachers are a threat if you are looking inti caring for the big animals like rhinos, leopards, and elephants. There's always a risk, but I'd say, if you want the job, passion is a major step into it
Nice
stay safe khaild bte praying for you dont forget your marami
froggg❤
does anybody have an idea of what type of camera they are using?

the most savage click bait I've ever seen.
If your worried about these animals going extinct and thinking there's nothing you can do about it then your wrong go online buy some of the frogs and breed them everyday people can help keep these animals alive even if it is in captivity
Most website's do over night shipping to prevent any death of the animals
That doesn't save them in the wild. And one of the biggest threats to amphibians is poaching to supply the exotic pet industry. Many amphibians and reptiles are going extinct because of this.
@@grisflyt it doesn't harm them in the wild if you captive breed animals and it's better for them to be alive in captivity than not at all
@@snacky-cp8hm Yes, captive bred are not a problem. The problem is that poaching still goes on. It doesn't take much to wipe out some amphibians and insular reptiles.
no dislikes...
that's new

Guys is it animal abuse to put a frog on my head for a photo and then put it back, asking for a friend
Well the frog wont like it and potentially shampoo or oils from your hair could damage the frog so I just would not do it. Frogs absorb things from their skin so any oils or shampoo on your hair are going to be absorbed into the frog and that's not good for them.
*PHROG*
I feel bad for them their so cute and what did they ever do to us other then kill a baby that touched a poison dart frog

Or stop overpopulation…
They are beautiful? .dammit i throw up when i see one of them.. I will choose spiders overs frogs everytime
Fuck you.
spiders over frogs... youre trippin.
I just post my opinion and this guy comments fuck you and gets 10 likes for it.. That's everything wrong with this world in a nutshell haha.
+mma Well not really, frogs may easily be more important to him than you to him. You are but another human. We are overpopulated and so many of us do nothing but harm to the world anyways.
Its a good thing more people think frogs are more cool or cute then spider then.

+1 s
I don’t understand why humanity feels the need to step in. Nature deemed them fit for extinction, why are we trying to combat nature? This goes for every animal that doesn’t go extinct because of direct human action.
Because the amphibians that this disease infects are crucial to the ecosystem. Amphibians help control malaria, for example. Without them, human lives are greatly affected. It’s the same reason we step in for any species, without them humans are at a disadvantage. Of course, there’s other, possibly more important reasons for keeping amphibians around, but their relevance to humans seems like something you’d understand.
because we mainly caused this infection ??? it got transmited by us traveling over the Earth ... it started to decimate populations of frogs because of climate change caused by US...
i hate frogs
If you hate frogs, why click on the video?
honestly what kind of person goes out of their way to hate on FROGS??? jeez...
Molly Haugen I hate frogs too
