This is so poetic, no wonder the Album is called the Rise of the Monarch, the songs themselves are chronologically the story of why the Monarch became a villain. From the Embers Monarch who originally a servant of light fought a war for her lover all for a lie. As she died knowing she was taken for a fool her righteousness broke. And so died the servant of the light but the future villain rose up from the embers. Metamorphosis How can her lover sleep in peace when the man toyed with the servant of light. Nightmares, pain, trauma the servant of light endured everything for love. But knowing there was no going back after she rose, she transformed into the villain that will trample him when the time comes. Gone was the devoted lover of his now only the vengeance and a broken heart remains. From the moth that died to the fire to the blaze that will shallow you whole. Call me king It was not as rehearsed as the servant of light was the mans devoted knight. Together they aimed to change the kingdom. yet due to him abandoning his lover, she now returns to not crown him, but to take his place instead. More powerful that ever before, the Dark Monarch sat on the throne edging her old flame to take his shot. Both of them knowing full well nothing he could ever do would ever make a difference. Wonderfully executed.
i earnestly want this story in Merryweather comics, it would be splendid. The Hero's journey is only outshown by the tale of a villain's start. Cause the best villains are the ones you can empathize/sympathize with.
there's a lot of Villainess Webtoons with a similar theme, though they don't actually become a villain, or are rewriting the history that made them so in the first place. One of my favorites is "I'm The Queen In This Life"

I love the hopeful hero turn karmic villain character arc in fiction, its always a satisfying view to see.
