The Sony focuses a little quicker but they updated the the Canon focus since it first dropped so it's not as bad as it used to be.

Hey, Just a heads up you can get a more natural look if you turn off the skin smoothing feature the Sony has... They automatically have it turned on straight out the box but that def will give you a more natural/crisper image. Also you can mess with the color settings to get it less red.
I just got mine today and then read all the issues and am afraid to open it. But like you said the bad views are like 3 years olds. Hope we like it😊

I also bought a G7XMark3 and it shoots beautiful videos when in VideoBlog mode!
I'm in the UK. I bought a G7X mark iii in October 2021. On receiving it I did the Canon firmware update that was supposed to fix the focusing issues, it didn't, the focus problem was a massive issue for me. After 10 days I returned the camera and then bought the G7X mark ii version. The mark ii doesn't do 4k or have an external microphone socket, but the sound is still good and the focusing works much better due to the camera running a different processor to the mark ii (same lens as iii). I am now very happy with the mark ii although I now think the Sony ZV-1 is the camera to have now.

After a year what are the pros and cons? I am contemplating about getting one for pocketability purposes.
Overall, they are both good cameras, great quality. The only problem that I have is the focus on the mark iii, it’s very slow but the quality it great. I would recommend the Sony if you are concerned about the focus. But if you don’t really care, either or is great.

I like the warm color of the ZV1. The Canon looks a little too blue/cyan to me. The ZV1 is a newer camera how come ur mom wanted the Canon which is an older model?

What settings do you have yours on?
For the Sony, the only settings I changed was the beauty filter. I’m still playing with the settings on the cannon
