Thanks for reinforcing my decision to embark with any reservations on a New career path, as a Sterile Processing Tech aka Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST)

On my first traveling spd assignment, in a small town of Texas and I love it. Yes, there is a shortage and demands of spd travelers. You're right about knowing your craft, decon, assemble tray, scopes, vendors trays, pulling case carts and each method of sterilization. You can't fake spd work, management will call you out on lack of knowledge. Good info.👍🙌
@Majestic Meno You can if someone can confirm you worked in spd, have 2 years experience. I know of nee hired coworkers lied about how many years they have and got the job with travelers agency.

I really hope its worth it and I want to make sure if I pursue this I'll always have a job lol in your opinion is it still worth it in 2022?
I'm gonna put this out there but learning the sterile processing part is a plus in other fields also. I work in the pharmaceutical manufacturing field and we manufacture vaccines or medicine for animals and humans. To do the processing part before we even get to packaging, you have to do a bit of sterilizing to be able to work with the product. So you can definitely take this experience and branch out to other fields if you find that this isn't for you.
Nice video. I really appreciate your effort to ease the part for some of us. My question is, which site can u recommend for self-study. I know u did mention the organization where u got certified.

Not sure if you guys still trying to get into this field, but INOVA is hiring, and you don't need to be certified. I just started last week, and I'm not certified. They train you for 6 weeks. Also, if you do want to become certified, they give you free classes on Saturdays once you get hired.

Thank you so much for this video! Best real information I have found to point me in the best direction for CRCST/SPT info and learning. Also, knowing that ultimately an "online course" that may cost tons of money is not necessarily the best route to go (as there are a lot of online options out there) is huge. Hi, this is a field for all ages. I do have to warn you it's a lot of walking and standing depends on the facility. Some have chairs in the department some don't. Decontamination is a major part of the job and it's gets very hot in there especially with all the protective gear you have to Don. The trays should not exceed 25 pounds but that is not always the case. Also you don't need to have any past medical experience it helps but not a requirement. You learn a lot on the job.
