- Menthya (menthe) or methi seeds dosa recipe explained in this video with Kannada narration and English subtitles. Menthe dose or Vendhaya dosa is prepared using very minimum ingredients or I would say just 2 ingredients. This menthya or fenugreek seeds dosa is prepared using idli rice and methi seeds. You can replace idli rice with dosa rice, however dosa comes out better with idli rice.

Ingredients: 1 cup idli rice (or dosa rice)
2 tbsp fenugreek seeds (1 tbsp = 15ml)
1/4 cup beaten rice or avalakki (if the climate is cold)
Ghee or oil for cooking
Salt as per your taste

Madam its cute. But please tell me, after the rice and methi seeds are ground, do we have to leave it for 4hours or so, then make doses?
Not 4 hours...minimum 8 - 10 hours fermentation is required. So grind it in the evening. Next day morning you can make doses.
Very simple yet healthy recipe.Going to try it. 2 spoon methi,will it not make dosa little bitter?
Please try. It will not taste bitter if fermented well. However slight methi taste will be there. Thank you.

It will not be bitter if fermented properly. You get slight methi smell that's it.

Yes..idli rice is par boiled rice. It is also called as kusubalakki. Short grain, white in colour and it will be slightly hard to grind even after soaking.

I Followed the same measurement told in this video and this didn't turn out good at all and was very disappointed this morning... I think it should be 2 teaspoon of methi should be added not 2 tablespoon..
oh.why? I am so sorry. But believe me..the measurement is correct and it turns out really good. It's a very healthy recipe. Can you please tell me what exactly was the problem? Which rice did you use? Was the batter fermented well? How is the climate there?
