I'm about to start my thru hike of the Pinhoti trail and every time I think about hiking everyday I think of Harvey. I'm just a little older the he is I'm 60. He is such a special little boy and what great stories he will have to tell the rest of his life. thanks
@S M a lot different experience my pack was half my weight and very bulky. We have so many convenient items now. Pay phones in towns was my communication. Paper maps and a compass was my way to get around I backtracked a lot somtimes. We only had about 300 people on trail then. Some of the northern parts were routed different. But people were still very helpful along the way. I was only 19 but it was a life experience for me.
So I was just on the elliptical trying to flush out sore legs from the Whites this weekend… and was like wow I wish there was a Sutton video to pass the time. And pop! Up came an alert lol… THANK YOU. This video may be my favorite of all… such a wonderful experience in Maine and Harvey just makes me smile every time I see him. So glad you had good weather … I remain in awe of your amazing son and what a great job you 2 (and 2nd dad SM!) do with Harvey on this adventure. Safe travels to K!
I've enjoyed watching your family on this great adventure. It will soon be over. In 1971 I was on Moxie Bald with a friend and that is where I was first dreamed thru hiking the AT. In 2004 I sat at the same location of the old fire tower which had been taken down. I too was staring at the end of my great adventure. I kept that dream alive all those years. I was so blessed to have seen that dream come true. Your family will cherish these memories too. God Bless!
So close, I’ll be sad and happy when your done. Maine born love their Moxie. I’m a transplant and believe it to be the medicine that it taste like. Many years back a moose ran through Portland and jumped my fence and continued down my driveway, your in moose country now. Good luck on this next leg. I’m cheering you on . I can’t imagine what it must be like to sleep in a tent each night for 190+ days. Keep up with the positive drive forward. Harvey shows that drive in your videos. Does he ever say, I want to go home? Or does he keep his eyes on the prize? I remember when my now 22 year old daughter said to me at 12, I didn’t know i had the choice to say no. May Harvey continue to appreciate the outdoors. Hope Harvey's bite didn't bother him for too long. We hiked jefferson yesterday and met a sobo that stayed in the same place as you guys. I think he said in stratton. He was from ohio and wore a kilt. We also met orange and whistler when were hiking kinsmans i think we spoke to them on the fishing jimmy trail. Good luck, as of this posting you must be close to finishing. Congratulations if you're done.
the best views are in Maine and NH on the AT weather permitting of course and I did not get to see my first moose until I got to Potaywadjo Spring Lean-to just at the end of the 100 mile wilderness. I woke up in the lean to and there she was
