I have a friend that used to love doing this when we play, only one in our group that likes to play support as well.
He's started to catch himself, but most of the time he still ends with several more kills than anyone else, and when that happens we usually get rolled over. If we don't, it's because the adc in our group won the race to late game and turned into Rambo resurrected, roaming the jungle and slaughtering everyone in his way.
When he gets rolling the game goes from MOBA to Survival Horror for the enemy team, I swear.
My Adc and the enemy Adc at 2% HP and i can't throw my CC because i can " KS ", But if my adc die, " GG Sup "
As support you shoud do everything to save life of your teammate, nomatter if you kill someone for it. If they dont understand it, they are probably silver or bronze.
I know that, I will ALWAYS throw my CC, Unless of course i waiting for something, But this is only situational
ikr, if there is 100% kill potential I w8 for my adc/mage/ whatever, If they cant kill him I go for secure. Only when I go full combo f.e. after using Sobek ult I go burst same with Kumbha, Xing and try to get kill. Or you if you are trying to lock f.e. Serq, Thor, just all in, in this case it doesnt matter who gets kill, point is to kill target.
i had a khepri game where if i didn't kill the enemy they would survive with 1 hp and ulting still didn't change a thing

Just never ever hold an ability to get a kill. Just fire everything you have in the moment when it's most useful.
Not all the time. I was in many situations when I wanted to give kill to my ADC and he just wasnt able to land last hit or spell and enemy was already under tower, in this case I can just jump in, land last hit and confirm kill. But you must know when to do it and how, best is if you are on curse. Just to be 100% sure it is kill. Its kinda hard to explain, you need good teamwork and comunication with your teammate.
In clash or arena, true, it doesnt matter just go for kill, but in conquest its more tactical.
Troodon SK Unless you are absolutely 100% sure that he will get it, don't hesitate. I can't tell you how many times someone escaped with one hp just becase their jump, aegis, sprint, meditation came off coolown when I waited for my retarded ADC to finish the job.

I feel with you.filmed a save penta with rama and I only had to kill kumba while he was sleeping,but fafnir did the last hit for fun and stole my penta.Has no impact on the game but a penta is a penta.
i had a game where i was sobek and went 14-0 all tank items. adc went 2-1. i told the team i think we can all agree that im the adc now. THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

+Freeze close. I think I had the 2nd highest damage besides our sol. Our adc couldn't aim so I did pretty high damage. Is say I deserve that since it was sobek. He's not very damaging besides his fully charged ult

There is one kind of kill steal that i care about. When you are on quadra and going for the penta and they just basic attack it.

I can understand why it's kind of a big deal in Conquest , because of low gold-spooling and less xp overall. But when people bitch about it in Arena i get a bit annoyed at times. Why does it matter who got the kill? The tickets will go down regardless, and if the screen at the end of it says "Victory" it's all good to me.
And, if all my years of playing Mobas, MMOs and other competetive games has taught me anything, is that you play to win. A simple concept that alot of people have trouble understanding.
Next to winning, I also want to have fun in playing games. It is not fun to 100-1% 5 people and then have some random shitty player who is failing hard take the finishing breath of air in the general direction of the guy you just solo'd.
I 100% play to win, but having your kills taken you worked hard for by someone who just turned the corner matters to me and a lot of other people. I would call this killstealing.
I agree, but a support can be allowed kills. Just don't hold back. Kill the enemy by any means necessary. Besides, if a support doesn't get anything, then how the fuck do retards expect them to keep anyone safe? How is an under leveled support, without any gold, gonna do shit to even keep themselves alive? Get real. If an ADC cannot finish someone fast enough, someone has to.

No actually. No one own them so how could you steal it? Yeah, red to mid and blue to solo is meta, but meta is not a LAW, it's only how pros play...

Oh god, I hate this crap. Especially when I play a mana hungry god like Tyr for solo and then our Nu Wa mid steals it even when I let them know I need it. And their response is."Well I am a mage so of course I need the mana regen." Like you realize that physical attack gods have far less options available to them when it comes to mana regen right? I mean in some cases I can understand if you let me know before hand. Like if we have an Ah Puch, I am okay

KSing exists when you down kumbhakarna and ur teammate waits until he's on his last hit in his passive before they hit him.
Securing is an honorable thing to do. The only thing the other team should be seeing is the deicide screen. You can't let the assassins go cause they will off your mage. In a team fight, the other team should be dead by any means necessary.
As a rule if they saved your ass its not ks.
So uhh if I use all my kit and I'm about to throw a basic for the finishing blow, and this Loki suddenly ults him, is that kill stealing?
I main support so i give them the kills as often as I can :p
My biggest issue is when you do all the damage and someones standing right next to you hogging their abilities for the last hit

Though I would say there are a few exceptions to the "you can't KS", even in other gamemodes than conquest.
- Xbalanque with less than 6 kills
- Kali's target when she's low health (this is ofcourse remedied by the heal you get for an assist but restoring kali 80% hp instead of 15% can be huge)
-a dead chiron in his ult (who can revive from killing an enemy with his shots)
there is only 2 times i hate being ksed one is my target as kali exp when it ends up getting me killed because i got no health or enough health back to live... or xbala building stacks
That doesnt exist for me...exp/gold share, team game, team kill.
The only killsteals that matter that much are pentas, kali passives, and xbal passives. In all other scenarios, it's a team game. Your stats won't be quite as good, but there's not that much of a difference.

Kill stilling is definitely a problem for kali or someone who tower dives to get a kill to have the shield from bloodforge save u to escape, so more than 10% more like 20%
it seemed to be an issue in LoL, but in Smite as long as your team's score goes up its really irrelevant. If the Aphro ends up with the kill, she can only help out more....
But someone if kali picked that kill up instead, she could slaughter the entire enemy team with the qin's she buys with the gold and that extra level, while aphro would only be losing that last bit of her rod of Asclepius and maybe 100 damage and 60 healing in a given team fight.

Kill stealing matters when the support steals them.
As long as you dont KS a kali's target late game, or xbalanque before he gets 6 stacks, it doesnt really matters. Always try to fed your adc and hypercarries, but if you kill one for accident, better for the team. I've lost tonnes of kills because rama was using ult and i had to let him finish the target and he fails, so better if I get the kill.
This is a really good point about gods like scylla and zeus. Zeus is well known for pressing 3 and taking your kills, but he is your hypercarry; he needs it more than you will 9 times out of 10. Scylla for once you max your 2, you want to only blow it up right before they get out, or when they will die from the damage. People keep bitching about it and im just like wtf dude you know that i need the kill, and unlike other gods like zeus and loki, im actually helping by not detonating my 2

I think KS is a lot more relevant to games in which you do not share the gold for minion kills or otherwise just get gold for being around a dying minion. For the most part I don't call it kill stealing I call it kill securing. I don't always know what a person has on cool down or how close it is to coming off cool down. For that matter my teammate may miss an ability that would have otherwise killed an opponent. That final blow that I hit has secured that the enemy is out of fight and as such is no longer in lane gaining gold or exp. In various parties I hear folks giving other players a hard time for having more assists than kills. Kills don't matter. That person assisted in the fight. He or she did something that lead to the advancement of the team.
Remember, a Loki main will complain about kill stealing. It's just how the world works!
The only time I care for kill stealing is if ive got the quadra or triple kill then someone takes the last kill I need when I did all the damage
The problem with "kill stealing" in most game modes (to a lesser extent in some) is that at the end of the match players may have a ton of assists but to their teammates a god going 1-6 looks horrible whereas 16-6 looks better. This can affect the players morale and if you get stuck with some or all of the same players in a later match it can negatively affect how they see you and how they'll play with you
The title triggered my ptsd and made me remember the 73672 kills that have been stolen from me.
man only 73672... that's kinda low... then again this is coming from a solo-lane hunter player who finds my jungle "ganking" when the enemy is at 5 hp very often... doesn't stop my scaling into the late game... just means that the "ganks" are often taking whole pentas instead of 1 or 2 kills
As a player that came over from league of legends (mostly cause my pc can't handle the game anymore), it's really weird as a support main to see so many players say "No Problem" after I apologize for finishing off the kill. In LoL it happens but most carries in that game are SO greedy, and threaten to go afk if the support takes another kill. Really nice to see this difference shine out.
I think sometimes people forget that getting the kill doesn't matter either as long as your enemy are low on health and/or mana then the fight was well worth. Simply because it leaves your enemy in a predicament to back causing them to lose exp and gold or if they stay their risking the chance of dieing. Of course you have to remember it could be bait and the enemy team can set a gank. However, if your team is very aware of your surroundings with wards this can be avoided. The point that I'm trying to get at is you having that kind of pressure on the enemy team will cause them to slowly fall behind in gold and exp. "Therefore you getting to late game faster" for being a sustainable lane.
The only time i have any problem with KS is when they deliberately try to steal my kill. Other than that, i usually would pops in [VEA] or [VER] once. I don't know if that's considered sarcasm or whatnot, and i sure do hope it wasn't interpreted as such.
Most of the time however, i raged because it should've been my kill, but the game decides that it's not.

the BIGGEST problem with everyone trying KS is when kumbhakarna goes in his passive. everyone waits for the last tick to steal the kill and he gets back up and lives.
It's a team game I don't see why getting the kill is so important. It's childish as hell.
I play thanatos main and people like to steal kills from me when I dive tower and I die because then I don't get the healing so fuck you if you kill steal from me because then you give them a kill also
the only time I get mad at someone for kill stealing is when an enemy is clearly dead yet they ult just to steal it. An example is when I played bakasura in joust earlier I was 0-5 with 11 assist while our kukulkan was 9-0 he ulted 6 different times just to kill and enemy I was clearly going to kill. and then would spam "I'm the greatest you rock cancel that"
You made a lot of valid points in this video. IMO kill stealing doesn't really feel like a thinh if my team doesn't need that stacking passive or gold like(Kali,xbalanque). There have been countless numbers of tines when I play support when my team drops a kill just because I didn't want to get the kill or sonething. Then everyone gets frustrated
what about a support like bacchus holding their ult off during the team fight so instead of initiating they get last hit and can get kills
I mean guilty as charged, i do that sometimes. Only because half of the time i can't even trust me team to engage when i ult with bacchus. Its a corruption ult, making you miss auto's and skills. If my team can't initiate when i ult from the beginning its a huge waste.

Thats how it is sometimes for me. My friends are cool with it if i am talking to them on skype but sometimes people just get mad when you give up a kill. I dont drop kills like that anymore

Killstealing doesn't bother me at all, the biggest problem I have is when the team holds abilities out of fear of getting jumped on and ends up dropping kills. Preventing the enemy from farming is far more important.
Only time I get mad is if I'm a Thanatos/Kali/Chiron and they take the last hit and I die because of it.
And I don't say they KS, I'm just like, "Dude.. You just killed me, I needed that heal."
3:40 Xing Tian's leap really needs a fix
Same with Fenrir´s jump.
Same with Terra's ult and dash. Almost every game I have to double activate it and sometimes I'll go through the complete animation with the sound effects for the 10s period. And by the end of the team fight I realized I died cause my ult didn't go off for the heals and unlimited mana thus screwing me. It's especially prominent if you through your 3 down first then ult. Always takes 2 to 3 times to get it to work. With her dash there was a couple times I got stopped by minions or her wall refused to break and I was the only terra.... And no one was around to silence me.... I was super confused and locked myself in the tower. Hahahahahah annoying yet hilarious cause I a 12 to 0 at the time. :(

I figured Xbalanque would get a mention as his passive literally demands he makes the kill. I have no issue with allowing him to secure especially if he doesn't have all 6 stacks yet. That and Kali's mark passive are the most justifiable reasons to use the phrase "Steal". Otherwise, it is a secure for the team, not a steal from an individual.

Xbanbleque robbed of a penta twice today. I was playing as Zeus and got all 5 in my Ult and I got 2 triple kills because both times Xban killed 2 people before I hit my 3 and finished off the other 2.

Haha. I try my hardest as a support to not kill steal. Even if it does help me cause I don't honestly need the, as terra unless I go bruiser. But I spam sorry if I take a kill that could of easily gotten the kill. But several times they did get away and sometimes that did change the game, cause it gave them another chance to catch up instead of being dead for 30 sec. Can be good and can be bad. Love this video, great tips. Must share with friends so they understand as well.
Yes, wtf, if you are going for a kill, and someone takes it they basically take your experience, and if you are getting under leveled, this is like a slap in the face
I think all of your arguments are valid but there is one problem. SMITE isn't just about winning for 99% of the players. There are some exceptions but they are insanely rare. There is a reason there are K/D/S'. People want to have a good KD and it gets destroyed by Killstealers. If people have a bad KD they will try to improve it by killstealing. There is nothing to do.
I never understood people who only look at their K/D in a MOBA, might as well play a game like CoD. I don't play Skyrim if I want to play an MMO.

Never steal a Kali's kill when she's low. I've died more from my team stealing my kill than I have by making a mistake.

Most of my kill steals aren't intentional. Usually it's just timing or dot that ends up getting me the kill. Kinda sucks having to apologize for nearly every kill though, lol.

One frustrating moment when i was playing as Thanatos on Arena, I already had a quadra and the enemy Izanami was half health after hitting her with my 1, when i was about to get my first penta, all of a fucking sudden Scylla, Ravana and Apollo simultaneously ulted Izanami. I MEAN WTF?
there is one non functional aspect, but equally important, in non contest modes that u didnt mention - fun. Deliberate steals where the mofo literally waits to last hit are fun killing, specially in modes that most people play for funzies, it is bad.
Another aspect of deliberate KS which you should have mentioned, and that affect the game a lot and does happen is performance overal. People who play with that mind set harm team performance. Sometimes extremely. For example, I had this fenrir in my team once that would often wait you to wear two enemies down 2vs1, wait you die and then move in to get a kill or two. Now that is the extreme case, between that and the completely innocent "ks", there are many degrees and none of them are good.
I think it depends. I've had plenty of situations where I'm 1v1ing somebody with a teammate nearby who isn't using their abilities and isn't fighting just so they can wait to burst them when they're down to 2 hp. Had a Thor stand by me while I fought to the near death only to use his hammer once hey got to 1hp
My friend needs this video because he thinks he's the best at smite and yells at his teammates when they take his kills so then he can't get fed. There is a difference between skill and getting over leveled and steamrolling the other team

I once had a friend in Xbox who always played guardian and always yelled at everyone else in the party for kill snaking, once, he was playing Ymir and missing every auto and ability on this one guy . I took my time and strolled on over from across the map, placed my Odin cage and killed the guy in one auto. The guy left the party after
for me kill stealing is getting 1 basic on the enemy and killing them. Athena's passive ranged basic is very good for doing this and can really annoy friends. one thing that is very annoying is when people bm you for kill stealing when the damage came from DoT, sylvanus, khepri, xing tian etc.
People would prefer the enemy gets away sooner than I secure the kill in solo queue. smh.
I call it KSing only if I'm low on gold/xp and need the additional rewards for the kill, otherwise I'm just like "thanks for secure bro"
It's absolutely the people who hold onto abilities strictly for grabbing targets from people who were going to get the kills anyway.
If you fire a Ra ult into an Awilix pull on a full-health target and get the kill, it's absolutely justified because insane combo damage and confirmed kill off a setup.
If you fire a Ra ult at Kali's target when she's ulting and they have no health anyway, that was a stolen kill and you probably just screwed your teammate.

does not matter which mode but decent gods ... all chars using blood forge and depend on a finish to survive with bloodforged shield ... is important ... no gold for enemys or even continued teamfight...
characters who especially "snowball" are thanatos and khali ... if you kill theyre target youll destroy their kill chains
there is a difference between saving if both are low ... or probably enemies escape will be ready soon
I think it does but only if a support or someone that doesn't help as much snowballing early into mid or late game but if it's like a mid 'ksing' hunter then it doesn't really matter

I don't agree with what you said about solo lane. You assume people only play warriors and guardians in solo lane, but there are plenty of people who also play mages, assassins or hunters in solo lane.
what about when your auto is 90% on the way to your target with like 3 hp and ymir frost breaths it? THATS STEALING ALLRIGHT. ESPECIALLY WHEN UR FALLING BEHIND
Yet getting some kills early as the solo laner can help the whole team snowball through the midgame bc having a warrior that has some kills and got to freely farm is just a pain in the ass beeing so tanky and still doing damage at that stage. It´s just so easy to get towers and other objectives in midgame with a warrior that has the highest level and most items at that stage. I usualy try to let my mid and jungler get the kills but it´s ok to get a couple for yourself.

I was in an Arena match the other day, and our Odin was a completely rude jackass. Spam VGS, BM'd constantly etc.
We were in control of the match, and I really didn't like the guy. So I just stuck by him the entire game and just used my 2-3 as Xbal to steal all his kills. The bird bomb-gungnir would get them close to death and I'd just finish them off before he could auto.
Lol, he go so mad. But it was worth it.
every single time i get an assist as izanami is because of when i do that 2nd attack on someone who is 1 hp left... then the kill goes right to the other guys! every killsteal ever

I actually don't believe in Kill Stealing.
Especially not in Arena or Assault. In Conquest, Kill Stealing CAN happen, but it is rare and if it happens it is mostly malicious.
Whenever I "Kill Steal" in Arena or Assault (take the final hit even if I've not done a lot before), I will say "Sorry", just to not make people angry.
If someone "Kill Steals" me in Arena or Assault and says "Sorry", I will always say "No Problem".
After all, I want to WIN the game, not have a lot of kills. The important part is that that guy is DEAD.
I just hate when someone doesn't help the team at all and they wait until someone uses all of their abilities and come in, hit once, and recall. It's annoying. at least help the team
I hate when they use an ultimate especially Ares or an important ultimate. For someone i'm about to finish with one more basic strike. That the shit that aggravates me.

I never care about kill stealing unless a.) People hold back abilities because they want the last hit and the person ends up running away, or b.) someone is bitching about it. Other than that I could care less if someone else gets a last hit. Both these problems aren't an issue in higher ranked play for me now where people care more about winning than getting the kill, but whenever I see it in casuals, nothing tilts me more.
everyone things we complain of ks because we want to be fed or we want to be the best....... NO! I personally complain about it because im very competitive and i want to progress through the game and become a great player. I wanna challenge my friends, build my reputation..... I now that smite is a team game and i dont usually complain of kill securing, but when i deal 1700 dmg to the enemy and one of my allies deals only 100, im fucking pissed. Not because i want to get fed or take credit, because i want to improve my kds and my xp and my achievements. For example: i was doing a road to penta and i played 20+ games to get there, in one of the games i had quadra and a guy just stole my penta with 2 basics..... I dont care thst was a team fight, i want to have achievements and more xp and develop into a better player
I see this comment as selfish, just by the way you put it. I get the competitive thing, and sure the example you put anyone would get pissed and improving is a good thing, but when I saw this comment I saw someone who isn't levelheaded. Build your reputation, but don't have a reputation to make it out that you are a dick. I've been through that stage and I never want to be remembered by it, you should get mad if someone steals a penta, I've had countless pentas stolen from me, but try your damnedest to be levelheaded about the situation. Everyone wants to grow as a player and build reputation but in my opinion the ones who can't be levelheaded in almost every situation in a "TEAM" game are the worst kinds of people to have one your team and I would never want you on my team I wouldn't care how good your reputation is.

Yes that's ok, but getting mad inside doesn't help either. Like a said get mad do whatever but don't stay mad or try not to stay mad for more than 5 minutes if possible because sometimes that will ruin the game without you even knowing. Like I said I know where you are coming from and I get it. I'm not asking you to change anything, in fact what I was actually saying is that most people who read this will think you are are selfish and/or a dick, now this is just my assumption and me speaking from personal experience.
If there is a team fight, fuck it get the last hit, it doesn't matter but when I'm having an isolate 1v1 in Arena and out of nowhere a Thanatos gets the last hit, I'm pissed.
better yet team-mate gets a penta where I did 99% of the damage to every enemy in...
I see so many early-mid game junglers get 60%+ the total kills in a game and it limits the team fighting potential late game. Been in several games where an enemy jungle is carrying until late game comes and it's GG for them. Lol.
I actually do not mind one or two KS, but i quite hate it when they take it as an habit; specially when i am playing as relatively top dmg rolls like mages or ADC. Some people just want to watch the world burn...
Only time I hate kill steals is if I have bloodforge it's 1v3 and I work a enemy down to 5% health and I need that kill to stay alive and escape. Other than that it does nog really bother me.
Well duh, only kill steals that really matter is if you take the kill from Kali or Thanatos. And that is simply because they get health back on those kills which means they can stay around longer to help. Only other times when it would be 'wrong' to ks is if someone just got a quadra and about to get a penta...at that point it is just cruel. God knows I once escorted our Artemis through the phoenix and into fountain just so I could get them that penta.
the real answer is : doesnt this apply more to the game mode? as an example, i played an assault game where i played gem and multiple damage items on cabrakan, i saw enemy agni dash forward, i blink and have him on 10 hp or something after using my 3 and jist kept that on, my teams vamana runs in and just takes it from me. i got kinda pissed off about it, i did not buy damage items because i just wanted a laugh, i wanted to acctually see how strong he can be in a game mode like that.
