Not only was Dierks Bentley my favorite country singer when i was younger, but him performing “American Girl”, one of my top 3 favorites from Tom Petty (my favorite musician of all time). I was at the awards and I was happily surprised by this! This song also means a lot; i would Play it for my Norwegian family (i am the only American born girl from our norwegian family. So thanks. Congratulations CMA, you ruined what could have been an epic performance. The staging is horrible; the sound is horrible (on the instrumental solos; the featured musicians are lost in a sea of how many backup players? Whoever planned this format should be fired.
