Why didn't you report the police? Keep all evidence such as transfer slip, lease agreement.
You should have published the info, including the name of the contact, to alert others to the scam.
Perhaps your vlog "encouraged" the culprit to refund your deposit, rather than risk the possibility of being exposed. Anyway, good to hear you got your money back.

Yes getting scammed is awful but apple scams people out of a lot more than $100 on practically every product they sell and people in Thailand don't have jobs available or even have enough to feed the family! Meanwhile you have fat Americans laying around all over the place!
I remember coming to Bangkok once without a reservation. I went to the hotel I usually stayed at and they tried to get me to stay at their NEW property, two blocks away. The price was too high, so i told them I would keep looking. Suddenly, they found a room in the main hotel. It was worn, but acceptable. I moved up the street the next day. There is NEVER any problem finding a hotel room in Thailand. You can literally walk next door and find a room in your price range.

Cool that you’re hanging around for a while. I will be in Thailand from 3rd October- 10th November. A few days in Bangkok before heading north to Sakon Nakhon for the Wax Castle Festival. Also crossing the border to Vientiane for a few days and back to Nakhon Phanom for the Fire Boat Festival and a short trip to Chiang Rai.Enjoy your travels.

I grew up near the beach in San Diego, CA and was used to the cold Pacific Ocean water, and at the age of 19, I went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and had the surprise first experience of warm ocean water.
Great look at your surroundings, Ethan. I lived in a hotel called The El Dorado in downtown Los Angeles in 1959 and 1960. Charlie Chaplain once had lived there. The room was about 650 square feet. Great location on Spring Street, the financial district with big theaters one block away on Broadway. The room rate was $45 per month. Now the building is all lofts with prices near one million dollars. You have great opportunities for low cost of living. The rip off lady is hopefully just a one time experience. You have a very pleasant voice.

I went to Hua Hin with my Thai partner over 35 years ago. OMG I'm old. There weren't any good homes like in your video but the beach was beautiful and it wasn't touristy like Pattaya. I remember having steamed crabs and coconut on the beach. I also remember the shock of being charged for coffee in the hotel room. Anyway, although this is an 8 month old video, since I just recently found your TH-cam channel, I've been watching some of you old postings. I lived in Thailand for a year. It's amazing how things have changed but yet so much is still familiar. I've been living near Jakarta in Indonesia for Nye on 30 years now. So whilst I might not be back in Australia, I'm still in the region of S.E. Asia. Keep up the great videos.

I was in Bangkok many many years ago and that was the most different place I have ever seen saw the "Bridge over River Kwai" which was an old movie was fun to walk across the bridge , also Jamaica was a very cool place to see try to get there sometime, they have some very nice beaches also a Nude beach if you like.😄🌴

Ethan, I am not sure whether you found a house already or not. If not, I suggest you should survey a house around Bangsaen beach. Bangsaen is located in Chonburi province and near Pattaya. The area is located near Burapha University. So there are many university students and it has a very good environment. If you travel a lot, you can ask university students to take care of your puppy. Moreover, the university has a medical school and a veterinary school. Very nice place to live for an expat.
Too bad about the Airbnb, but those things happen when traveling, especially overseas. Good for you, you've really thought it out 👍

I live -- and have been for 13-14 years -- a coupla hours south of HuaHin, in Saeng Arun, Thabsakae, Prachuab Khirikhan. Come down this way and we can go to some nice restaurants, go to a nice beach nearby, etc. Amazing views from a temple on a mountain top in Prachuab City.
Cool! I've bee n to Huahin! It is a tourist town. I stayed in a hotel. It was reasonably priced. The food (restaurant) was expensive. I think the fee for an ATM was expensive. Hope you have/had fun! I would go back there again.

Most dryers usually vent their hot air outside. Doesn’t AIRBNB have a toll free number you can call them from anywhere any time for issues like that. While waiting for her should have called AIRBNB and got them on the phone she needs to be reported and have her listing removed permanately.

Ethan, you mention visiting Egypt. I would strongly caution against it ! From what I've read, LGBT rights are virtually non-existent there. You can be arrested, imprisoned, and worse ! On a lighter note, the rental costs are truly amazing in Thailand for all you get! Best of luck and stay safe :)

I hope you get your money back. Interesting fact, the price of gas is the same all over Thialand. Not like US where it varies from state to state. Also excellent roads everywhere. Hua Hun is indeed easy get to the airport, Otherwise not so interesting but plenty of beautiful places nearby. Wonder how you do your visa? If it is still 30 days it's easy to go and Icome. I used to go either to Burma, Cambodia or Laos. All well worth seeing .Hua means head and Hin means rock. There is are some big rocks there.The beloved former king loved Hua Hin and spent a lot of time there and had a stray dog he found on the beach named Dang (red for his color).

If on your travels through Thailand, try & make it to Prachuap Khiri Khan. It is a wonderful seaside town with great main street that I think shuts down every Wednesday & everyone comes out on the street with food, entertainment, drinks & typical market stalls. What makes this place different is no one tries pushing you to buy stuff, they are just really, friendly & helpful. There is also a Military Base right beside the town & you can sign in or drive in to great beaches, exhibits & a food square where for $2 or 3 will get you a decent lunch. The whole area is worth a 3 or 4 day visit.
It sucks to see how unprofessional that host was, hope you can get a full refund. Overall I enjoyed the video, I always get inspired and I hope that one day I could do the same, stay out of my comfort zone and start knowing new places, but in the meantime, I will keep just enjoying your travels. I suggest you have a look at Prachuap Khiri Khan which is about 80 kms south from Hua Hin. In my eyes one of the nicest places in Thailand - judging from my 25 years of living here...

I live in Bangkok and go to Hua Hin often, the prices in Hua Hin have dropped off the charts since there are no European tourists co I g, it’s technically low season. Generally hotels in Thailand will jump in October. Hope too see ya in silom

Why you did not choose Phuket ? has international airport within 1 hour, from Hua Hin 3 hours, Phuket 12 NICE beaches, Hua hin 5, Phuket 12 islands and close to Phi phi, Hua hin 0 islands, Phuket lot of shopping malls, entertainment ... also Khao sok national park

Thank you for this video and listening to my advise from the last one on showing us more of Thailand. This is awesome information and this place is on my bucket list for the future. I dated a Thai guy long ago and he was very very hot. There are hundreds of thousands of expatriots from the US and Canada who live in Thailand in retirement. Thailand only offers a one year visa so everyone has to leave the country once a year to renew their visa. Thailand is tropical so it might not be for every one but everything has air conditioning. Otherwise with a very nice and inexpensive house with a pool and near a beach is the way to go. Thank you for listing the prices. Also, Thailand is very very gay friendly. The Thai Monarchy never banned it. The US Navy also docks in Bangkok and thus both nations have an excellent relationship. Also, there are a few I-JCOR hospitals in Thailand and thus health care in Thailand is at the American level. Being scammed a $116 is not the end of the world. Last year someone shimmed my debit card at the walmart gas station, sold the card # on the dark web which was then picked up by some crooks in the Chicago area who went around Gary Indiana and racked up over a $1000 in charges over night. My bank called me the next morning and I told them that I live in Austin and shopped at WalMart last night. I stopped by the bank after work that day and they gave me a new debit card on the spot and refunded me every cent. Nowadays I have one credit card and two debit cards just in case and I no longer buy gas from walmart. Thanks again Ethan and glad to hear that you are having a great time over there. Please continue to show us more of Thailand and also try to include lgbt info. Also, since you will be based in Thailand I have a request that you and your friend do some Travels to China, Japan, Phillipinnes, etc. Would love to hear your thoughts on those places. I don't know about different countries economies but with those houses it shows how much we get screwed here in the US as far as pricing and what you get.
Hua Hin is a good area for you to stay. But watch out for jellyfish in the water at the beach.
Go to Tamarin market for good affordable food. Next to Cicada.
Thailand is amazing! Check Koh Pagnan. It is a small island, very calm, local people (come tourists). Hope you enjoy south Asia. Philipines is great too :p
I looked at a Craigslist ad for a house in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. I found a beautiful home, online but it didn't exist in reality because the address led to nothing that resembled it. Did a reverse search using the images and found that the house was in Wisconsin. When you are looking in South Carolina an address in Wisconsin is very inconvenient. 🤣 I wish I had been looking in Wisconsin, because it was a great house at a great price. 😁
It amazes me how some young people today are so mature, worldly (in a good sense) smart and able to be realistic and pragmatic ( again not in a way that intimidated or belittled me once). No, I'm not whining or asking for pity, times are just so different now for every reason from the internet to just expansive thinking and awareness if open to it. It gives me great joy, love it and please do it with respect, care and sustainability for all. I have never heard of him discussing the sleeping arrangements of the travel buddy, travel friend. Any time you have a group of un married people sharing a house/hotel room, the issue comes up.
